      why do so many polyglots refuse to learn Hindi/Urdu but learn Latvian or Danish instead ?

    • @louiserocks1
      @louiserocks1 6 місяців тому +4

      @@belstar1128hah that's so true, I don't know why, but probably because similar culture, western mentality, religion. So it's easier to understand each other straight away because of that. And similar sense of humor too I guess.
      When someone's mentality/culture is completely different to you in almost every way, then it's hard to make friends with them. They ask you questions like "why is your wife not on a leash" or something weird like that lol

    • @belstar1128
      @belstar1128 6 місяців тому +1

      @@louiserocks1 yea but they also often learn Chinese or even Arabic. i will say trying to learn Hindi most Indians don't get my hobbies. most of them only care about more mainstream things like sports and movies. compared to Europeans and Latinos were you got more hobby communities despite the low population. but i think its because of poverty but maybe not since this stuff is also popular in places like Ukraine or Venezuela. but not in south Korea

    It's great that you made it so you had to guess the country instead of the language. One the one hand this really helps you with things like filipino languages, but it also creates some fun scenarios like with the guy from Northern-Ireland or the English-speaking Maltese guy.

      @@DavidZ4-gg3dm English is an official language in Malta. And in many studies is shown to be slightly more widely spoken than Maltese. It's very common if you go there, many signs are only in English. But this is also partially because Malta relies a lot on international tourism economically.
