  • Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has some hilarious stories about his days on the road with KISS and drinking with everyone from the New York Yankees to actor Nick Nolte. He remembers roadie’ing for Jimi Hendrix and what he originally thought about Gene Simmons’ new band discovery, Daddy Longlegs (aka Van Halen). Trixter guitarist Steve Brown, who produced, engineered, and co-wrote Ace’s new solo album, “10,000 Volts,” also joins to talk about the making of the record and what it was like to work with one of his childhood heroes! Plus, Ace talks about his relationship with Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, the 1996 KISS reunion tour, and how he feels about not being included in KISS’ final live show.

Ace had some of the best solos through Kiss Alive II, back in the '70s. I couldnt imagine anything being better than the ones he came up with.

Ace finally put a hole in his retelling of this story by saying it was 70, the Hendrix Experience broke up in 69, so Ace must be just talking about the last lineup Jimi performed with before his death, which is kinda crazy.

Ace has said that he is horrible with remembering dates just look up the concert at the place ace said it was at and you should find out the year and the bands if Jimi was at the show some one should have info on it one would think 🤔

@@adamcrawford3297Honestly, I just prefer him being vague, not calling him a liar and saying it didn't happen, it just makes his retelling a bit fuzzy. It is crazy to think how close he was towards the end of Hendrix's life and career. But upon research like you said, it would have been July 17th, 1970.

@@vegetasasuke0 I love Ace and never met him. But you are right about how close to jimi hendrix Ace Frehley was and maybe he passed something along to Ace if you believe in that kind of stuff. Ace Frehley has the best stories and I could listen to him talk forever just a very good cool person I live in Canada so I'll probably never get to meet the man the myth and the legend I would love to meet him for real. He's the reason I became a kiss fan in the first place watching kiss meets the phantom of the park as a kid. And in the opening where they are singing rock and roll all night and you see Ace frehley spins his arm and and pushes his guitar back hooked and wanted to learn how to play guitar right after that. But playing guitar like Ace is a hard thing to do.

@@adamcrawford3297My first experience was listening to Kiss with my dad, and I believe my first experience seeing them was when I was shown a VHS copy of the Psycho Circus music video, I was hypnotized by the look and advertising of the Cherry burst, so much so that my dad and grandfather both ended up splitting the bill and picking up one of the 300 signature series, to which I have to this day. I am happy to say I was able to see Kiss on the original farewell tour, and although my music taste has expanded quite a bit, Ace's playing does hold a significant spot in my heart for how simple, yet effective it is.

If you listen to the whole podcast, this clip is the most Ace spoke. This other db is taking over the spotlight. Ace doesn't seem to mind but it's obvious.
