I stopped following them the moment I realized they were not determined on paying me,
Walking away from government suppliership saved me stress, time and servitude.5 yrs later I’ve rebuild myself and healed from those wounds.
With the county government of Nairobi owing me millions which am Owk with wether they pay or not,my heart goes to those honest and hard working suppliers who gave their all to build a nation that now has turned against them.
I suggest, since Public procurement has a time frame for which money should be paid upon invoicing,in the event the money is not paid it should start accruing interest just like money owed to banks or money owed to KRA.
That way procurement officials will be pushed to pay since not paying makes the bills worse.
sorry about that
Sad....pole
Very beautifully done and great reporting Brenda, i think its time this government undergoes psychiatric evaluation.
This was a sad but nicely done documentary
Rule no 1: never do business with the government.
This is a conman government
2 don't even dream about it bruh
It's very sad and disheartening to be in such a predicament. I have gone through the same thing and it's really hard trying to trade in a very hostile and uneven playing field
Billionaire businessman Narendra Raval said he has never supplied anything to the government. Raval, who runs the Devki Group of Companies, explained that it is his company's policy not to do business with the government.
He's a very smart businessman. And he is still a billionaire because his goods still find their way to the government through tenderprenuers. But they pay him cash, and the small profit he makes has made him a billionaire. Our people then triple the prices and sell to government, and end up losing everything.
All legit self made billionaire business men avoid the government like plague. They know how ugly it can turn very fast.. From intimidation to threats of someone's security if you don't play their ball
Very true. I remember this...
When my business got on it's feet, I applied for a tender to maintain vehicles in a particular county. A lady who worked there and had a crush on me told me to walk away she wouldn't like to see me suffer.
Later she sent me a text telling me to avoid doing any business with any government.
True to her words the guy who got the tender ended up in debt. I pity that guy up-to-date.
That lady saved u alot of pain and debt.
So ulikula huyo dame ama???
Hehe
@@Msapere Hehehe, No.
She was a decent person and she still is. She was interested in marriage and am not.
Weh! Keep away from Government contracts. That is the lesson here! Sad!Sad!Sad.
To get a GOK contract you bribe @ 10%. The Bank (your partner) charges >10%. KRA charges ????%. You get 10% Mobilization. Your area MP, the youth, the wazees and the relatives earmark you for you are the new Millionare. Any payment you bribe until you become financially anaemic. You get stressed and you get hospilaized for blood pressure, blood sugar etc. You lose contact with your family and friends. Is it worth it?
Heart breaking. Good reporting.
meanwhile the one who ate the money for suppliers is a governor.. actually chairperson of all governors😭😭
this country needs to stop rewarding theives
And she was elected with a landslide by people.
😂😂😂
It wasn't one person only. Many of them are still walking out there 😢
She's built several houses and estates in Syokimau. Sad!
I hate to do this comparison but at the end, it’s educational: USA, the Supplier is paid on delivery, the receiver of the goods or services deals with the bank. That said, Kenya needs to adopt this system!!
You are not clear in your explanation. In addition, I have conducted business with states and feds. Where do banks come in ?
It's extremely difficult to get a tender to supply anything in any government institution or county government. Those who get the tenders are either relatives or close friends of the management team or whoever is in charge. Now after getting the tender no payment will ever come, the relatives disappear without paying you 😅😅
Aki very true, venye nilijaribu hizi tenders aki😮😮
True knowing Kenya, there is always a story behind the story. Maybe someone has already been paid
I work for a State Agency here in the State of Oklahoma and I have my own budget and every once in a while I need contractors. I love the way Americans conduct public business. The accountability is top notch and a contract cannot be awarded unless the money is there which is always there because it is allocated during the fiscal year and everyone is informed how much the agency has.
@@b.3940 that's the beautiful thing about Amerika and most first world countries, the systems work.
Homabay county and Rongo University are sitting on our millions to this hour and keeps telling us to wait and years are passing. Please pay us for the supplies and the pickup leased to you plus all the pending millions!!!!! 😢😢😢😢
I know of someone who’s not yet been paid over KES 100M to date by the IEBC. Almost seven years later. They gave up & moved on. Lucky for them, their business does a lot more.
You would rather sell roasted maize by the roadside than do business with the Kenyan government. Never, ever be tempted to do it. You’ll rue the day you were born. Never. No matter how connected you feel you are.
Alafu shareholders wanajidai kujipiga kifua😮😮
It's true
I also know one who's yet to be paid 1B by the national government. It's been 8 years. Whenever he approaches a politician to ask for help, they ask for kickbacks in millions before beginning the process...

So so sorry for this predicament. The worst part is that people who squandered NYS and other depts' money are living lavishly. They have built buildings & apartments all over.
Ann Waiguru and the houses and estates she's built in Syokimau
There should be an exit plan for all offices so that people are paid and the office is left clean before the new office holders come in
The theme here is supply the Goverment at your own risk then pray hard that they pay 🙏.
What needs to be done is to table and pass a bill in parliament criminalising issuing POs and contracts and then not honoring the terms of contracts. This is not just common with government, because the private sector is also absolutely failing businesses by delaying payments, in some cases up to a year plus....
No I think the budget for procurement should be locked
I onced supplied maize to acounty government waah my advice DON'T DON'T & DON'T.
It is purely corruption. These tenders were awarded and the supplies officers were paid hefty bribes just to award the tenders. The accountants were waiting on the other end to collect their kickbacks, and only those with fat wallets were moved to the front of the line. They ask you to over quote, they add their own commissions and demand it upfront. When you are not paid, it's not only the cost of the goods but also commission paid upfront. It's a pity.
At least you are the only person who sees the reality in these games of tenders...pure corruption
That 71 million invoice for a 2km paving is crazy. Probably 7x the actual cost of the work.
@@hoodiegamer9256 They end up losing even the little they put in. 😒
@@franciskarumba5353 yea haha an attempt to steal tax payers money gone wrong. At the rate I did my home, that 2km shouldn't cost more than 17million and that's assuming its as wide as the standard 2 lane road, 9meters.
They need to band together and sue the authorities.
There is no problem here. Why are officers not taken to court for diverting funds meant for settling some bills once approved by the OCOB???? This is the problem.
"Peter Njoroge " supplied but now hiding behind AI ..
Fraudulent are the ones that get paid because its the officials money, genuine work is thrown out. Why was this issue not there in kibaki govt
These pending bills stories are very unfortunate and a lot of people are losing their properties through auction, and others die because of various diseases due to stress, and are buried before getting a single penny from the National and County governments; yet a lot of money is being made to Counties and other government entities whereby a lot is being pocketed by those running the various government institutions. It is a shame that even NMS in their short-term working in Nairobi only left contractors out of pocket and quietly wound up their offices without a care in the world. My prayer is that people should categorically desist from taking any tenders from all government entities and just be comfortable doing small businesses on your own and with some peace of mind. My heart ♥ goes to allthose that have been affected, and may the Almighty GOD come to your rescue because HE is theonly one that can HELP.
Getting a government contract in kenya is throwing money in trash. Never get paid . Avoid them by all means necessary.
The host you have done a good job..congrats
Kwani what do governments do apart from increasing tax and fugazi manifestos?
I have never seen an economy that kills the supply side. This will be costly to the government which will result to more additional taxes for Kenyans.
Anyway, I have learnt an invaluable lesson, the government will take and not pay.
I hope the suppliers get paid + interest + damages caused.
Great insights there.
We hope they will be paid
Uhuru formed a multi agency team, verified everything, money was allocated, bit suppliers were not paid. Where the money go? Now ruto has formed a another multi agency team, same story. Disregard of the law and stinking impunity in the country is causing all this.
When you have wings don't fly very high. You will melt and fall..
I'll keep that in mind. Thanks
@@emmanuelcalpymbella657 The richest companies in Kenya sales products worth KSh 1-1000.Safaricom airtime , mpesa charges etc are within that range.

I'm not in the tendering business. But I can never ever be a government supplier.
The problem is NYS operating a deficit budget on the premise since they are a government unit they will always be funded. They should be remodeled to only spend what they earn or what is allocated to them on their budget by National Treasury.
Perfect documentary.
This claim of pending bills being fake is so ludicrous. Anybody who understands how govt invoicing and payment works knows this makes no sense. You cannot con govt unless the govt allows you to con it.
It is sad.
Be that as it may, I pity our tenderprenuership culture. We need to put these monies into innovation. Young people have innovative ideas that could do with financing from the 'tender' monies. We need to start financing potential start ups in Africa.
NYS should have not been revived in the first place,it is a canduit for siphoning monies from government.Maybe it should have been transformed to an institution of training private guards thereby earning money for government.
Uhuru left a total mess! Sadly, it will take a while to work through all these issues.
mbwa wewe
Your name suggests you..
Felix is too judgemental to judge Uhuru.
This did not start with Uhuru. It started long time ago during Moi's time. Kibaki and Uhuru reduced the time it took to pay supplies. I hope RUto will reduce it further

The only way you're guaranteed to get paid for a tender is if you promise to sort the chief Procurement guy a kickback after receiving the pay. Nakwambia, ata you will not follow up for the payment, he will do it for you knowing there is something for him at the end. Alafu the Karma of inflating items also catches up with the tenderprenuers. Thats a big shame on the govt/parties responsible to make the the payouts. You wonder if someone(leader, tender bosses or those involved in issuing the tenders) would watch this and try to make things right with the contractors, or atleast try to have these matters expedited.
