Physical Graffiti is a drastically under-appreciated DOUBLE album, yet it’s truly fantastic. One of my favorites. I had the shirt long ago, that was the front of the album cover. And I wore that shirt until it was in threads. Literally 😂 Presence and In Through The Out Door are also fantastic albums. Zeppelin was always evolving, pushing forward, stretching the limits of what rock music was suppose to sound like and what was possible in those times of and that era of recording. That’s why their music is so varied, unique and incredible; and they never got stuck in a box making only one sound or being a one note kind of band. They could do it all. ALL. Them sounding different in different songs and albums is a thing that some people complain about the most but it’s actually one of the very things that makes them so great.
the drum delivery is so cool...I wish they would have used more harmonica..in their songs
And of course the" Black country" is an area of the West Midlands near Birmingham England called that because of the heavy industry and smoking chimneys in the 1800s
And, coal mining.
@@dwanpyrtle3134 And pork scratchings
I live in Rowley Regis, heart of the black country, there's a black country woman at my job, she's insanely hot
And where Robert Plant and John Bonham were from
Presence is a superb underrated album. Good on ya" SB Keep Rockin!
So pleased to see you back on UA-cam. Your reactions are the most insightful and concise.
Your efforts are appreciated. I quite enjoy your discovery of Zeppelin's talents. I've been a huge fan for nigh some 40 years. They simply are the very best.
Keep up the great work and thank you.
Cool, thanks!
This was recorded at stargroves which was a mansion and garden owned by Mick Jagger.
Mick is also rumoured to be the harmonica player on this track. If you listen carefully you can here Robert say “go Mick” during the solo
This is 1 of my favorite zep tunes. Underrated. Simple but perfect.
My favorite Zep album!
That is the smoothest drum entry to a song on the Planet, Hats of the The Late John Bonham!!!
They record as live band in the studio . The airplane fly n in the recording . No band leaves that in .. No band records live anymore ..
That was plant telling the engineer to leave the plane on the recording not page
Back then, a double album cost twice as much more or less, so to debut at #1 was a big deal, just like goodbye yellow brick road, Saturday night fever, the wall.
There will always be fans who get so invested in the objects of their admiration they feel that they own them and like the people who pester you they become obcessed . Like the guy who shot John Lennon
Excluding greatest hits, live or compilation albums:
The Wall by Pink Floyd
The Beatles (White album)
Electric Ladyland -Jimi Hendrix
Exile On Main Street - The Rolling Stones
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John
Tommy and Quadrophenia from The Who were both successful but didn't reach #1 on release. Quadrophenia did get to #2, but Yellow Brick Road prevented it from reaching #1 upon release. Tommy reached #4 in the U.S. on release.
All Things Must Pass - George Harrison Although it's a triple album
Are a few #1 double album Rock albums
This song was recorded outside. Just before guitar starts you hear an airplane fly over. Producer says let me get this airplane out. Page says nah leave it in there
An airplane was flying by just as they started recording.
Plant says : no leave it.
Love your reaction to a favorite Led Zeppelin track. Subscribed
a real toe tapper
here's a great link to an interview of jimmy explaining how he/they did everything...ua-cam.com/video/WZQ8oSuq4Kg/v-deo.html...if you ever had questions about Jimmy's talent here's your answers
"physical graffiti" is an excellent but inconsistent album. the first 4 songs on side four, of which "black country woman" is the 4th, are the best grouping of songs on the album. i NEVER play these songs out of sequence. like the first three and last three songs on "sgt pepper" they BELONG together.
this is the last album zeppelin released of any real creativity or consequence. thanks for the video.
great...just great
Love the reactions
No such word, conversating.the word is conversing.
That's no longer true. Watched Judge Judy correct someone over that and Bird told her that it's now in the AMERICAN dictionaries as an ACCEPTABLE and RECOGNIZED word. Shame on them...
Notice the drums sound exactly like D'yermaker and the Crunge? It's because the only way they had enough material for a double album, listen to down by the seaside or the wanton song which are by the drum sound were songs that were shelved by the 4th album.
I always wondered if this was about Robert's ex wife who was from the Black Country. They divorced about 10 years before this was written. When he sings 'that's alright I know your sister too'. He did have a relationship with his wife's sister. It was said to be after their divorce but who knows, maybe it's what provoked the divorce? I don' think any of them will discuss their personal lives though. If they get questions like that they steer away from them.
Page would just grin at your question.
The Wall
Double albums often fall flat, true.
It's "Black Country.....Woman" The "Black Country" is an area in Birmingham UK where Robert grew up around the factories that spewed "Black" smoke in the air. Hence the name. Alot of people mistake that.
The Black Country IS NOT IN BIRMINGHAM - It has nothing to do with Brummagum.
