- Well, my AlderGlo 325c58 is gone, and out of its shed cocoon comes this beautiful MapleGlo Rickenbacker 381v69. Built in 1988, this thing looks like it's never been played, but guess what? I'm gonna play it. Yes, I am. Stay tuned for me actually playing my new Rickenbacker when the kids aren't screaming for their dinner downstairs.

That´s another tip to recognize an original RIC, smell under the pickups and you'll find that sweet scent

I wish I had money for guitars. I hate being a teenager. All I own is a Hofner ignition bass. I really want a Hofner cavern bass. Which are like 2000 and I'm a lefty so I have to pay even more
Well, when I was in high school and college, you couldn't buy a 'real' Hofner at all unless it was a $1500 German made version. I had to buy a fake Hofner at a pawn shop that never quite looked right to me. The Ignition Hofner is a good bass! I'm glad you have that one. It's a good start. By the way, they make a Hofner Contemporary Cavern bass that only costs $800. Maybe a little more for a lefty. It looks exactly like a German made Cavern bass. The Contemporary Hofner basses are like the next step up from an Ignition bass. Not made in Germany, but also not as expensive as a 'real' one.
The I was thinking of getting a contemporary cavern bass, though on eBay they are about $1000. And here in Australia you can't find much hofner.
You're right. Finding a lefty Cavern Bass downunder might be a bit tough. Still, a local guitar shop could order one for you when the time is right. Good luck!
Yeh I remember I went to a guitar shop and asked if they had any left handed Fender Telecasters. They said they can order them or any other guitar

At least you CAN order a lefty Höfner. I tried ordering a lefty Rickenbacker 4003 and they said they weren't taking orders for lefties.

Nice guitar and by the way have you sold the C58 yet because my younger brother is after one and Rickenbacker have ceased production of that particular 325 ? :( But for me luckily they still do the C64.
That thing looks pristine. What did it set you back? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on one.
It cost what the going rate is for these, used. I won't say exactly, but it's a pretty penny.
this is the advantage to live in America..... you can get a Rickenbacker without waiting 1 year ..... by the way i hope you do a lot of videos from now on

Yes, I did. It was a hard decision and very bittersweet, but I felt like I needed a full scale Rickenbacker. 'Needed?' Well, wanted. I sold the c58 to a very nice guy in Georgia that is a Beatle guitar nut, too. I actually wondered what you might think of my selling it. But, I've got a new 'woody' one now and I'm going to have to make a plugged in video soon. Once again, the offer is open. If you're ever in Austin, come by and play it! I still like watching your 320 unboxing video. Nice modifications to it with the oven knobs and new pickguard.
I just got a Jetglo c58 today it was given to me believe it or not! I’m extremely lucky to have my dream guitar at 16. But the 381 is a beauty as well

Ridiculous. Rickenbackers spend their time in the closets. Complete with case candy. Ridiculous. Guitars are meant to be played. We do not even get to hear what it sounds like. Insane!
