Adoro! Da quando vi ho sentito la prima volta a Lucca ho sperato che prima o poi avreste fatto una cover di Final Fantasy XIV ed eccoci qua! Keep going strong kupo!
Beautiful cover 🎉 I hope, there will be more from XIV. Answers, Bee my Honey, Scream, In the Balance or The tireless One (just to name a few) are just made for you.
I've listen to this one every time I jump in the car. This is such a good version. I was absolutely in love with Susan Calloway's version (political drama aside) but this is more my vibe!
You know what? I'm going to do something nobody asked and give criticism. First of all, I'll preface by saying this is a good performance. Full stop. I listen to a lot of music and I try to understand what I like and what I don't like. So the criticism I'll give here is subjective. However, I believe it has some value because of the intersubjectivity of a piece's appreciation. In other words, people might agree, and it might not be just an opinion, but there might be some truth or something in there that will resonate with people. The voice. While the voice is extremely good technically, here Beatrice didn't push much, remained in her octave (might have switched a tiny bit) so it felt a bit boring. Another point on the voice is the emotional expression on this performance compared to the original is obviously very inferior. Another way to say this is the original singer knocked it off the park and believed every word she sang. Truly hard song to cover after that. The music. Super engaging, dynamic, but also very "busy". It felt a bit like a wall of sound at times, overstimulating for a long time. The whole. The singing kept the original rhythm of the song while the music was accelerated to a power metal level, which resulted in slow singing and fast everything else. This creates a sort of dissonance, which, while interesting conceptually, doesn't quite work in my opinion. The rhythm of the music picks up at about a minute and remains very fast until 4:12, where the song finished as calm as it started. It was ballad in the beginning, turned power metal (but not the singing) in the middle and finished ballad. There are multiple ways I can imagine this song could be improved , making the music slower, matching the voice, or making the singing more power metal, matching the voice, or giving more empty space for the voice to express itself emotionally. Just my two cents. I don't have any qualification or significant experience in the music industry, but here it is, I liked, it, but it failed to live up to its potential in my opinion, for the reasons I've shared. I hope this is helpful, if not, well. Fuck me I guess.
Thank you so much for your comment, we do actually appreciate constructive criticism and your is a good point for sure. We knew that choice of having a softer, slower and dramatic voice in contrast with a proper power/epic arrangement would create a sort-of dissonance which, I understand, wouldn't fit everyone's taste. Beatrice wanted to give her interpretation of the original line, trying to avoid mimicking the amazing Susan Calloway (it wouldn't have no sense at all), and we liked it this way :) [MIke]
@@chocobobandofficial Can't perfectly please everybody with art, that's for sure. It's also what makes it interesting. You make the best choices you can and hope it strikes true. I appreciate the answer and the context it gives :)
I feel like around 3:30 there’s a spot where the vocals and the background separated somewhat rthymwise? Maybe that is the point. It does stick out to me
Thanks all so much 💜
Closer in the distance!
