I’ve been following Liam since he appeared on FIF. I’m nothing but impressed with his work ethic and passion for his craft. If I had a Hoffman axe and some Nicks boots I would use them for all my family outdoor adventures. I would then make my kids compete for my affection to see who gets them when I pass. 😉

Not gonna lie, I hated my last pair of boots. They were cheap Brahma garbage made in some sweatshop with no care or attention. They fell apart after only 8 months. The soles and heels were made out of hollow rubber instead of solid rubber cores and fake leather instead of real. A real pair of boots like these would be a Godsend! I do about three miles worth of walking per day on different surfaces, concrete, asphalt, gravel, moving materials. Then on the weekends, I take my daughter out into the woods for walks and wilderness education.
As for the axe, this would go well with my Go-bag or my BOB, either to be a supplement to or as a replacement for a hatchet I've had for nearly 20 years, which would also be going to my daughter at some point.

I recently purchased my own piece of land on a small inland lake where my Grandfather use to take me fishing when I was young. It is a little wooded island that I remember exploring with him. My hope is to build a small log cabin, clearing a spot on the island by hand. It will be a multi-year project. Whenever I take on a new build, time doesn't matter, I am all about quality. I love working with my hands and look forward to this project. A cabin, built by hand, with the help of a hand-forged, overbuilt Hoffman axe and a pair of Nicks Handmade Boots, both showing real American Handcrafted quality, well that would just make the project even sweeter.

I remember seeing a kid on facebook/Etsy selling some sweet copper looking rings! From that first purchase to the saddle axe my wife bought me for our anniversary, I have loved using what Liam has made and following what he has been building. I wear boots every day for work, lots of it in the mountains. I’ve moved from the desert of the southwest to the Pacifica northwest in the last few years. I look forward to teaching my boys the value of hard work and passing on to them the skill of using an axe. I’m sure if it is one of Liam’s axes, they will one day be passing it on to their children as an heirloom. Keep up the great work, brother! I’m proud to support what you do!

Two awesome artisans joining forces! Love it!
I’m an arborist, tree worker working in my hometown of Paradise California which was nearly destroyed in a wildfire. I’ve been hard on my equipment these last few years as we clear flammable vegetation, dead trees and brush to make way for our neighbors to come home and rebuild our town. My wife and I are about to begin construction on our own house so we can do our part to give new life to the place we call home.

I’ve been a proponent of Liam’s for years, since he was killing it with Audrey, and love sending customers his way. I’d love my very own Hoffman axe, like it was a second child (don’t tell my other axes I said that). There doesn’t seam to be a better more perfectly matched set than a pair of Nicks beautiful boots and a Hoffman axe to give a guy a lifetime of wood harvesting adventures. I would gladly wear these boots while teaching in Baltimore city, to show my students what quality really looks like, and then strait home and into the shop to show the world on UA-cam, and then to the woods to process some wood for the fire pit with the Hoffman. Couldn’t ask for a better day.

I grew up in a small eastern Montana town on my parent’s farm and ranch. My family homesteaded there and grew the farm through the work of my grandfather and father. I spent my youth working the ranch with my father until I left for the Marine Corps. Service was something I felt compelled to do. After completing my service, I ended up in Southern California where I continue to live and work. I was fortunate enough to keep the farm in our family as I started a family of my own. As a family now our focus is to invest our time in returning the farm to the condition it was in before I left. I enjoy the work myself but more importantly, I feel it gives my children a taste of the experience I grew up with and a way to reconnect with our family history and a very different way of life they need to appreciate and respect. I will use these boots and axe to help me in rebuilding the buildings, corrals and legacy my family built there with the hope I can kindle the love of land in my children and hopefully theirs when that time comes.

Growing up, working and living off the land since a young age, both in the mountains and hills, I learnt very quickly to place my trust in quality made gear that you can depend on with your life. Living this closely with the land also made me conscience about wastage that is disposable equipment and clothing. Both Nicks Boots and your Axes will last a lifetime of dependable and quality use if looked after (with maybe a new handle and a few resoles). To serve me and my family, living the life our ancestors did, in the mountains and hills.

I decided to start smithing during COVID, after talking about it for years. I bought Liam's book and started acquiring tools and equipment. I even inquired about lessons with him. When I'm not working my day job or being a husband & dad, I'm down in the shop practicing and creating. 10 months in and I'm making what are starting to be functional axes (and a few knives). I won't be quitting my day job any time soon :) but it's a creative and physical outlet I really need. Those boots would be awfully nice in the shop, and the axe....well, I'm sure I'd use it, but I'd probably hang it on the wall for a while as an example of what I'm aspiring to some day. 51 yrs old and still learning new things.

I have been a huge boot nerd after switching from sneakers over a year ago. I also just finished building my home in rural northern California. While the interior is done (mostly) i still have a ton of work to do on the exterior of the house as well as the property. These boots and axe will give me the proper tools to prepare wood for the winter as well as continuing to push through all the outdoor tasks that still need to be done. Ive gone for years using non-handmade goods and am ready for the boots and axe that will last me and my home for a lifetime. Thanks and keep up the good work!

Liam's videos helped me get started working with and restoring, hand tools. Especially the videos on hanging an axe handle and proper use of a drawknife. It's been a couple of years now, my collection has grown and I've been using them quite a bit. I recently finished off a round wood framed woodshed, since lumber prices went through the roof, and have a list of projects to complete this autumn. I've put a beating on my current boots and have been drooling over Nick's Instagram page for a while. New axe and new boots would be put to good use around the property!

I spend the majority of my free time outdoors and having high quality tools has always been important to me. I can say that Nick's boots and Liam's axes are at the top of the quality chart for both products. Some (maybe most) people that buy these high end items don't use them as they were made to be used. Most put them up to save for "special" occasions. I am not that person and will use these as they were designed to be used. Outdoors in all weather conditions making memories for both myself, children, and grandchildren. These, I am sure ,will be passed down for generations to come. Thank you for the opportunity to win the best boots and axe made today.

I am a volunteer construction worker living in CA right now, helping to build places of worship and provide disaster relief. I am also a camping enthusiast. I work part time to facilitate my volunteering and camp whenever I get the chance. Quality boots are obviously very important whether you're hiking trails or building concrete forms, both of which I love to do. It's been a dream to own a pair of Nicks and a good camp axe for a while now. My aim is to be equipped to volunteer even more for disaster relief because as we all know there are plenty of disasters happening right now. It's an awesome give away you're doing and it's awesome to see how people are keeping craftsmanship alive and making it accessable on UA-cam. Keep up the great work!

I am currently on my way on a deployment. I’ve worn thru many boots over years that just can’t handle day to day moving thru bush and day to day standing and walking. These boots would have the chance to test themselves in one of the most hostile places in the world, Africa. In addition to being in the Army. I have a start up game going, right now we have 21 chickens and a large garden set up for next year. I’ve had to cut down plenty of small timber on my land and turn it to firewood. Using some off the shelf axe made that work long and hard. This ax would also have be used for family camping and passed down to the next generation. Been a big fan of your work since I originally saw you with the Samurai Carpenter. Both of you have influenced how I do work on my house and look at tools.
I will still be saving and looking for when I can get an ax of yours to take home after this! Y’all keep working hard!

I would use the axe for falling trees, to drive some wedges in, an awesome real handmade axe by a great craftsman would be way better than my cheap axe, will also looks way nicer. Pulling it out from my truck like, ok now we are in business!! Would be also a great tool to have when I go camping with my children.

This November me and my buddy are taking a small group of young men from our community out to experience camping and get some outdoor experience for their first time. Our community isn’t necessarily outdoors focused so giving these kids a chance to experience that world is a big deal. We hope to make this a frequent event. Wearing these boots and swinging this axe, teaching them to chop wood and care for our outdoors would be an epic experience! Cheers.

I was just on your website last night looking at your axe ordering schedule. I have a baby on the way and it has had me thinking about the quality of the tools I buy, as I’ve been inheriting tools from my grandparents. My grandfather is no longer in the shape necessary to care for the land he lives on so, I have taken it over so he may continue to enjoy the land that he has taken care of so well for my whole life. Just yesterday I fell 6 trees on the property and bucked them for firewood (you can see where the axe would come in handy). I also work for the town I live in taking care of the town’s weed and fire abatement, I am on my feet 10hours a day at work then I go home to take care of my pregnant wife and 2 dogs, or to my grandparents to help them. It would be a true blessing to own either a pair of nicks boots or a Hoffman axe. The thought of owning both is truly overwhelming. Thank you for putting this together

There are products that are not something you use for a short time and throw away, there are heirloom quality items that can last for generations. Other Nicks Boots and Hoffman Blacksmithing made products are perfect examples.
I have been a city person my whole life but have come to appreciate being I. The country. When I retire in a few years I hope to have a cabin in the woods and be able to use these fine products as part of my every day life.

Handling hundred of thousands of livestock each year on clients farms and processing them livestock selling centres I am constantly going between dirt, gravel, mud and concrete all in a day and quickly takes a toll on footwear and the body if the footwear isn’t suitable. Also run a family farm where an axe is a tool regularly used be it fence maintenance, firewood for the winter and harvesting and processing meat for the table for the family. No tool is so versatile.

Both the boots and the ax are remnants of a better time, when putting your name to something was a meaningful expression of who that person or company was, and the quality they stood for. It was taking pride in their craftsmanship.
As a fireman I understand the need for comfortable, well made boots when doing wild land firefighting. I would use the boots in so many different applications from working in my shop, going hiking in the mountains or if on a wild land fire deployment. The ax would be an heirloom tool that would be used around the property, taken camping, teaching my son to appreciate and use quality tools. It would be taken care of and passed down to my son. The chainsaw may be quicker at felling a tree - but the solace and enjoyment that comes from an ax cannot be beat from time to time.
    Keep up the great work!

Especially since, I've taken up blacksmithing/ bladesmithing & so I need a pair of boots that won't hurt my feet after standing/walking for a long period of time. I would use the axe to help my brother chop is wood pile into usable pieces & I would use it when I go camping to make pieces of wood that could be used in the fire. Thanks yall for doing this & God Bless

Im 18, and I’ve been watching a lot of Hoffman blacksmithing videos as I begin my blacksmithing journey. all of the things that I’ve learned from this channel is truly astonishing. I’ve been restoring vintage axes and making handles for some time now and a Hoffman axe is a sought after tool to me that I would love to add to my collection and have hanging in my where I work on my axes. I would use the boots while making my axes and knives, as well as for camping or doing yard work.

As a knife maker I'm on my feet all day. I burn through boots and they never give me enough support. A pair of Nick's would certainly make a huge difference and my aching back would be thankful. As for the axe, one of my favorite things to do is cook out over a wood fire with my kids. One of Liam's axes would be a treasured tool that we could use together and that could be passed down to future generations. Thanks to both Liam and Nick's boots for making quality handmade goods that live up to hype and hold up to a lifetime of use 👊

I would use the axe for the camping canoe trips my son and I take throughout the summers. The boots are hands down some of the best out there. I have seen the videos from Liam and Wranglerstar doing the long term reviews, I am currently waiting to receive back my boots from a full rebuild. It's been a long 20ish weeks of waiting. I am a shop teacher by trade and also a volunteer firefighter. The boots have been the best investment to my body and feet. Walking around on concrete floors of my school shop and hiking through the woods for hiker/lost person calls or wildfire these boots I have no fear of twisting my ankle because it holds everything together so well.

Liam, I've been subscribed to your channel from the days of your first shop. LOVED your video's, LOVE your product. I purchased one of your camp axe's way back when and truly appreciate your craftsmanship! Nick's boots ARE amazing boots. I've wanted a pair for several years now but have been in and out of employment so purchasing them has been a "wish list" item. I use my camp axe around the property and it stays nice and sharp, especially when I do a touch-up with the sharpening puck. But boots nowadays leave much to be desired. Nick's boots incorporates the items that I need in a proper pair of boots. Things like arch support and metatarsal support. Years back when my Sears steel toe work shoes gave up the ghost (they did have the arch support and metatarsal support that I needed) I had to buy sub-standard boots. My feet pained me 24 hours a day because my arches were falling and there was no metatarsal support. It would be wonderful to have a pair of boots, especially Nick's boots, that incorporate that which I need for happy feet! Peace, Love and Happiness to you and your family.

I am already the proud owner of a Hoffman Wasatch axe and a pair of Nicks Boots, so I would give this set to my brother-in-law who lives in the Yaak Valley, Montana where he works tirelessly to provide lumber for the victims of wildfire. Over the past few months, he has been running his mill 16 hours a day to provide Larch wood for home and business reconstruction from fire loss. I've been bragging about my boots to him for a while, and he's been jealous of my Wasatch ever since he used it on a camping trip last year. I know he would love both. Thanks to both Liam and Nicks boots for their awesome products!

Entering this contest was easy, since I was already subscribed to both channels! I’ve been following Nicks boots ever since you first introduced them on your channel and the craftsmanship and care that goes into them is incredible. I would love a pair for my shop as I continue to improve my blacksmithing and metalworking hobbyist skills, all the boots I’ve owned get destroyed in no time flat and just leave my feet hurting after a long day of grinding or hammering. As far as your axes not much needs to be said, they are works of art and I’ve seen first hand in your shop the dedication you’ve poured into them to make them the best axes being made today. I would make sure it’s by my side every time me, my girlfriend and our dogs go hiking and camping in the blue ridge. We have a trip coming up at the end of October so this would be perfect!

I use an old jersey pattern plumb which I restored a few years back. I’ve always wanted a nice pair of boots and have always wanted a pair of Nicks, but could never justify the price point with my own money or to my parents to buy them, but they’ve always been on my wishlist. I have always adored Liam's axes but never owned one. I have always been on the lookout for good boots, but never found the ones for me. Now that I have my first done, I plan on teaching him everything I know about the outdoors and if I had these boots and axe, I may just stay out here instead of going back to work.

As a maker myself, I've come to really appreciate hand made tools and items. Everyday Im making forging hammers. Hot scale, steel, and sparks wear out my clothes and boots pretty quickly. I have been wanting some Nick's boots to withstand the conditions I work in. As for the axe, I know from my experience that the right forging hammer makes all the difference. I can only imagine how a proper axe can be a game changer. I could use a nice axe for splitting logs for the stove this winter. We already got 5 inches of snow in Montana.

I"m a forester and a wildland firefighter, and I've been wearing Nicks for about 10 years. They are by far the best bang for the buck in the boot world today. Turns out, my current pair are about due for a rebuild. Were I to win, I'd have the ones I already have rebuilt and set aside as a spare set, and start a new pair next spring. Those 2 ought to get me through the rest of my career. As for the axe: that's a normal forestry tool that gets used all the time. I'd rotate something out of my truck and this axe into its place.

Thank you Liam for teaching me proper care for an axe in your videos and posts, as well as showing me how a young entrepreneur and craftsman can compete and succeed in the American manufacturing market without compromising quality or values. Thank you Nicks Boots for teaching me how to properly care for my leather boots. I was taught to just toss 'em and get a new pair when you needed to. You guys have shown me how to properly cherish a quality piece of equipment (my boots) so they can always do the job for me that they were handcrafted to do. I have a great vintage 2-bit axe right now, but I would love to have a domestic top-grade Hoffman Axe. But all of that is a moot point unless my feet are protected. Which is where Nick’s boots come in. Because of my student situation, I am generally unable to afford these kinds of products.
