I was ready for a super complicated prism adjustment after watching other videos. When you talked about your simple customer repair of just unscrewing the front bits and screwing it back, I tried it. 30 seconds! Thank you!
Many thanks for the detailed video. Cleaned the optics and wondered why I had a double image. Assembled and disassembled many times until I watched this and found the hidden screws. Like new now.
I fully disassembled and cleaned a vintage pair of binoculars because they had fungus in them. After reassembling the lenses/prisms were now clear but clearly need aligned. Would this fix work with these or is the problem much deeper?
just i watched your video.thanks to the video, good tutorial. i have a pair of nikula 7-15 × 35 binocular.it gives double image. i purchased 20 years before.from purchase itself the problem exists.i couldn't find out service centre in india.i think your video will help to solve the problem. one thing i want to know that what will happen to prism position if i do prism adjustment screw loosen or tighten.
In most case, misalignments are not apparent when looking at terrestrial views. On my binocular, the I can see double vision only when I look at the stars at night. So wouldn't it be easiest to perform collimation during night time focusing on a bright star? Most of time, you can easily verify if collimation can be achieved by simply rotating one or both of the objective lens (screwing or unscrewing holder for objective lens). Screws for pushing prisms should be last resort because it might put too much stress on prism and cause cracking.
if there are screws in the binoculars, then they can be turned within reasonable limits. and twisting the lens body will not do anything, you only need to twist the lens with the adjustment ring. you can look at anything through the binoculars, I just showed all the methods of adjusting the binoculars with my own eyes

It is a tasco replica. But the layout and the build is the same My only issue was that i could not find the little spots to aligh the prism with, but it was at the end of the barrel under the rubberband. Managed to align it 5 minutes ago perfectly. Thanks for the fast reply tho!
I have these binoculars i got from an old lady they are made from ussr and i have dropped them when i picked em up they were having the prism issue i believe but i dont think i have a way to get inside the system
the lenses must be covered with cardboard so as not to damage them. you can try applying a little alcohol to the thread of the clamping ring. I also had a case, I could not unscrew the ring, I put part of the binoculars in the refrigerator freezer for 1 hour, and then unscrewed
But who would pay high repair cost to justify such expensive repair equipment? Certainly not owners of old porro binoculars. Even nice old porro binoculars can be had on ebay for pittance. Maybe if you are specializing in repair of high end roof prism binoculars, but then most of those repairs are probably done through official company repairs.

I am not able to move the indents in the front lens. I am afraid if I use more force i might break the binoculars. Any suggestions?
