Really liking the videos Covid19 "pushed" me back into the hobby and as soon as Waterbox decides to send me my tank and I get it cycled I definitely will be stopping in!
Astrea kept dying. But as of 2021 astrea is anywhere from .75 to $1 vs trochus 4 to $5 a pop. So if trochus are cheaper at around $2, I would definitely choose them over astrea.
Trochus snails are basically the same and they are able to flip themselves. Also don’t load up on CUC because once your algae problem is gone your going to run out of a food source and then you’ll have dead snails decaying and have to deal with that. Use good tank husbandry to keep your algae down not 50 snails in a 30g tank. You’re asking for more issues.
Imo, trochus is the ultimate snail, flip themselves over, they breed in the tank and they are good at defending themselves against wrasse and butterfly fish plus they eat every type of hair algae and diatoms. What happened to the micromusa lords then? Salinity?
@@fragboxcorals I doubt the dragon soul torch was salinity... I think we dont know hoe to keep the yellow torches right yet, my indo gold just decided to polyp bailout out of the blue and I keep hearing stories of gold torches dying.... I think one of the leading causes of torches dying is coral warfare my theory is they dont like touching or be touched at all even by other torches
I got some astrea’s and Mexican turbos in my nano and boy are they work horses
Definitely helped my tank thanks for the advice they had it good in about a week
This is my go to snail. Always a great eater!

The only salinity tester u can trust completely is a professional grade hydrometer. The glass floating type.
If asrea snail die, will it poison your tank if you don't get them out?
I have 3 trochus and I was told they were heaven sent little algae nukes but they really don’t eat much
Mine haven't eaten any, they're cool looking though
Golden trevally avg size is 3 ft but can get to 4 ft.
Great videos
We miss Tia… hope she can be a special guest soon
Why do they always seem to be at the top of the tanks like right at the water line?
do you already have a video for Bryopsis removal?
What about trochus snails?
Do Astrea snails eat dinophlagellates?
Do they often breed in captivity?
Awesome store
What about dinos? Anything eat that?
How long can an Asrea snail survive on its back?
They can't, they are useless and die fast, as soon as they tip, they are goners
@@boostedbadboyzx12r31 well, they most not flip over a lot because I’ve had a dozen in my tank for months and have yet to find one dead on its back
I personally found that money cowry (Monetaria moneta) snails are far better in cleaning. Specially with hair algae. It's also low profile.
this is true ! only issue with these is we rarely get them in :(
