I enjoyed your video! I love how your take your son with and see the smiles he has. My Dad hauled my brother and I around the mountains as well, and although a young senior now, I still horse camp and ride the trails. I spent 10 years in the field, researching our infamous bigfoot, thanks to my Dad's interest when I was young. Back in the early 90's, my ex and I owned the Bonanza King mine, during the time I was working for a gold mining company. We let it go due to lack of funds and liability issues.
Thanks to your trail guide I spent a nice couple days working my way north through this area just last week. I will definitely be back - the rivers are beautiful!
My grandmother, Betty Carlson was stationed there for 20+ years. locals new her as Bonanza Betty. I spent alot of time there as a kid visiting. Making the trip from French Gulch in Grampas old Datsun truck. The best of memories of my childhood!
Looks like a fun trip! I recently went up Trinity Mountain road from French Gulch, then down Dog Creek Rd with a nice wade in Clear Creek. Unfortunately it'll be a while before I'm out again because I'm working on the Dixie fire, and my beloved Nissan Frontier burned to the ground last week.
It was an out and back to the Bonanza King Lookout. You could effectively pull a trailer on the Shasta-Trinity Backcountry Discovery Trail, but lots of downed trees and washouts after this year's winter storms.

Looks like a good trip, glad you didn't step on that rattler!
lol the kid in the beginning
I’ve noticed that no one is pulling any trailers, is this trail too hard for that?
