A great overview of of a seldom covered topic. Any time you go to the range, you should have a plan on what your goals are for that session, even if you are out there with a bunch of your friends and their wives. In that case, my goals were no AD's, no trips to the ED and no PD. On of my range bags was a small bag from Lowes that I had all of my target equipment in, sprays, staple gun, a big magic marker, 3x5 index cards and 5x9 cards a 50 ft tape measure, pasters and so forth. Several bicycle cones to lay out the distances. Also I would mark the sticks on the stands holding the cardboard targets every 6 inches starting at 4 feet and ending at 6 ft. I found shooting much more enjoyable even if you were on a limited budget, if I bought a box of cardboard backer sheets built a target stand out of pvc pipe and showed up at the range with enough gear to do some good drills instead of scrownging around Krogers and the ABC stores trying to find cardboard
Would you please tell us what kind of paper targets you use? I like the SMPD colored dot targets, as well as several others that I have purchased from Alco Targets. Thnx.

Do you ever use the steel targets that hang on a T-post?
