Again a great one! ... we sing this arrangement for years now.. a great one. Audience always loves this! We will for sure listen to your version as a group to give us new ideas to improve!!
Loved it. Now this is a song custom-made for that great falsetto. It’s a unique do-wop, barbershop take on a classic song. It’s right up there with versions by the Tokens, Nylons, and a great version by Ladysmith Black Mambazo & Mint Julep.
Dear Sonny. You are a man of surprises !! I’ve heard so many kinds of songs from you that I thought you couldn’t surprise me anymore. I was wrong ! I had a great time! Thank you ,and congratualtion .
Well done! Glad you recorded this arrangement. Scott Turnbull arranged this after hearing the Robert John version on a cassette tape I made for one of our road trips in my first quartet, "The Ivy League". Scott had introduced me to performing in a barbershop quartet format and became one of my closest friends. My subsequent quartet, Metropolis, sang a modified version of this same arrangement (we shortened the "bop, doo-wop" segment). Scott was an extremely talented individual who brought more than 50 other people into the hobby of singing barbershop. If not for him, I would not have had the opportunity to travel the world singing in Metropolis, which also gave us the opportunity to sing on a show with The Nylons, as well. Thank you for your performance!
I loved the harmonies so much!! And the control over your voice really shows that put a lot of work performing this arrangement. You never fail to amaze me with your music, keep it up :D
Perfect, and obviously a perfectly suitable Sonny song. Surprising that you haven't done it before. Of course, there are so many suitable songs and only four of you. You'll just have to keep on singing. That will make us happy. Thank you again.
It's so in your face obvious to do it, that I always kind of tried to ignore it. But since I was in need of a great popular tune, why not go for the big guns? Thanks for stopping by, man!
I'm sure you've all kinds of songs on a list somewhere to do but I would absolutely love you to do I'm Walking Right Down the Middle of Main Street USA! It's such a favorite of mine and it's such a classic barbershop/disney song in my mind!!!! Love your content!
Thanks for the suggestion, Alex. Right now I'm going by orders or if I can find a great chart by a super popular song from not too long ago (Your song, Mr. Blue sky,...). But I'll definitely put it on the list to consider. Thanks for the kind words!
Very nice cover, love the harmonies. But sometimes i got the feeling you were rushing, but maybe thats just the inflection you use on certain words,.. or it`s me, from the many other versions i heared over the years
I have a confession to make: I didn't want to listen to this. I didn't want to watch this video. I'm very burnt out on The Lion King (long story), and at first all I noticed was "Lion King" and not "Lion Sleeps Tonight." Even when I realized what song it is, I always argued myself out of listening. "Yeah, but this song existed long before the movie!" "Yeah, but Sonny wrote 'The Lion King' right up there in the video title, so I can't ignore the connection." Tonight, though, I was feeling very mellow (mainly due to a J-Hey three-run homer in the 9th for the win, but that's another story), and I clicked on UA-cam before heading for bed and there you were, all four of you, smiling and making faces at me, and I couldn't say no. And you charmed me right out of my cantankerous bias. I loved every second of it. Bravo.
For over 5 decades, this has been among my/my family's favorite songs -- we had as much fun singing it as you are apparently doing! Particularly melodic arrangement, providing wonderful background for your silvery falsetto and a great contrast for the jungle sound. [If you'll take 2 1/2 minutes to watch Roy Zimmerman's "The Liar Tweets Tonight," you'll understand why I'm grinning more than usual at a Sonny song: ua-cam.com/video/TkU1ob_lHCw/v-deo.html]
Your smile and your voice shine so bright in these dark times. Thank you for doing what you do.
That's so kind of you to write. Thanks so much for that!

Awesome. Take whatever you need! Good luck with the group!
@@sgtsonnyactually it's a song from the Tokens, a Canadian singing group that was popular in the 50's and 60's
I wish there was a way to get all your music on my Amazon playlists :((( Another fantastic track!
Sorry, man. Is there a way to upload your own mp3's? Or can you only add songs that were purchased on Amazon?
