This turned out great slew! Is there any chance you can do a video showing your portfolio that you had when you were first starting to take your art career more seriously? With some explanation of what the clients/collectors were looking for(Although I know everyone's ideal clients will be different)? I feel a lot of artist that are just starting out like my self would greatly benefit from it.

It's the idea that getting yourself out there is critical if you want to create a revenue stream from your craft. Otherwise, you might as well be marooned on a desert island while painting LOL. Key points for sure on how to get out there with your work. I’m constantly trying to get my work noticed on social media, but seems like there is something missing. Your comment about painting what people like is truly a curse for the artists. I have had many people tell me “ If you would paint ‘this’ or paint ‘that’ you would sell more art.” Not true. As you said, if the passion is not there, it will show up in your work, and hence no sales. But the flip side is true too. If your great at what you do, and can’t get your art out to the public, then you won’t make sales. My sales are mostly done at art shows, and other physical venues. I would love to branch out into the social media, which I have, but not with huge results. I am however working on trying my hand at UA-cam, so we shall see! Good video!

I couldn't figure out however if the painting was oil paints or acrylics? Considering his profile, I'd say its oil.. But so many youtube artists use acrylics these days and come up with amazing oil paint style texture.. Donno anymore :P

idk if you intended to sound bitter, but to be fair to slew, all he's saying in this video is you should utilize social media. him being financially comfortable or not does not really change the fact that social media is a great (and pretty much free) tool to help put you out there

This video is great for those of us just starting out, and it looks like you are past that point so I can see why you might find this less than useful. This video is certainly for a subset of Slew’s audience but that doesn’t mean this video doesn’t have value.
I thought it was nice to know his history with selling art..not boring at all. I don’t think he is looking for negative criticism when he is telling what he has gone through in the past
