Ezzard Charles Yes! The Cincinnati Cobra was like a Light Heavyweight Robinson minus the beautiful footwork. But very deadly and explosive with tricks up his sleeve.
The Cobra is one of the greatest p4p and could've won titles at middle and light heavy divisions as he was growing. His left hook rivalled Robinson's as did his speed but the Sugarman had the better chin.
I like your breakdown in this video but....... In his prime years that was never recorded, he done it all. There are things he did that we haven't seen but possibly some of the things we haven't seen, we've seen in Muhammad Ali when he was in his prime.
Two things I liked is that one after Ray throws a 1- big 2 he would always weave under from left to right avoiding a counter punch and two that Ray always aimed his jab to the left eye so it would swell up preventing them seeing the big right hand that would smashing into their face
@@gheudbbn9134 I don't know much really I just watch a some off his fights and alot of his highlights 😂 if u want to contact me victhunter is my Instagram account
Cotto moves to the left because he is a left handed fighter. His left hand is wat he’s used to write or do anything everyday/all day of his fights. Most fight change up like tht. Etc Andre ward , Pacquiao n etc
That hook is almost like a surprise check hook! Then he turns it into a left uppercut check hook combo! Crazy lol I've seen James Toney use it and Rocky Marciano actually used it a lot off slipping, ducking, or rolling the jab and right hand believe it or not.
@@ringroadmap2048 Robinson admitted LaMotta out-jabbed him for 10 rounds before body hooks wore Jake down in this fight featured here, they both spoke about this in an interview while on a stage together in some program looking back at their iconic clash.
@@markant9534 I didn't notice that at first. I thought Ray was landing his jab more. Lamotta had one hell of a chin but everyone saw how vulnerable he is to the body in this fight.
Aren't you suppose to rotate, circle away from the opponents power hand? Ray here rotates to his left ... actually toward Jake's power hand. Is this unusual?
Aren’t you not really supposed to circle towards a fighters strong hand? i. e. To the left against an orthodox fighter, like Robinson does against lamotta
Prior to Sugar Ray Robinson, it was a fundamental rule not to circle to the right hand of your opponent. But when SRR and Ali came, it became more common. Nowadays, there are more fighters who's comfortable moving to left rather than to the right.
I think it was done on purpose because it's unorthodox. If a boxer is used to it, he will be better at it. SRR, imo, just broke the pattern, becoming umpredicatble. Who would expect a triple uppercut?
@@ryand141 Its unorthodox but theres actually a slight advantage to doing it. When you circle to your opponents strong side, as long as you maintain your distance, you will leave them in a squared position for a second before they re adjust themselves. Meaning that for a second they are kind of “stuck” they wont really be able to reach you with a strong jab or cross but you can reach them

It's a real shame we don't have his early footage. All SRR footage should be treated like Gold.
Ray's footwork and his relaxed style - with great speed and power - is a beautiful thing to watch.
Great video! I will never say no to a Ray Robinson Study!!
Great video! You should make one on Ezzard Charles.

Yes. Ali has a lot of SRR in his style.
Anyone knows Sugar ray Robinson training routine ?
Thank you for uploading this is gem 💎

V valid point regarding boxing stance.
Sugar Ray Robinson is a boxer puncher
Breakdown more of Ray Robinson please. 🔥
The greatest period omg

The awkward position makes it unpredictable. I've been hit with it many times with a hooker that I sparred before.
@@ringroadmap2048 Amazing punch.

Love watching SRR. It just looks like poetry in motion, very fluid.
Are you saying his arm is at a right-angle, 90 degrees when he throws the short hook?
what was sugar rays stance?
Tried leaning down like that from Boxing in an MMA Fight and got my neck snatched up in a Choke lol
Definitely man
That's an invitation for a Guillotine choke.

try boxing instead fuck all dat grabbing shot
Can't lie as much as I love boxing, wrestling is probably the most effective of all the martial arts
Muhammad ali copy him
Yes and Sugar Ray Leonard and Roy Jones and Pernell Whitaker, etc
A shorter left Hook blow strikes, 😁 🤔 you maybe can, recover _& grab& hit at same time,👊🏿🥊🤼😡 tie up, hit and run,
