Every time I watch Craig's work and cannot help but to be awed at his knowledge and how keen he is to share. Wish to plant some dwarf tomato soon :)
YAY!!!!!!! I'm Sooooooo happy this show is back! I went back and watched all the older ones and love them. This show is important and impactful. Also the edits and production is great
Wow love this video. It reminds me how my Mom started her tomatoes every year. She never had a greenhouse just a kitchen window and steps much like in this video and everyone came to her hoping she had extra plants because they were so delicious. Thank you
Thanks for this episode. Just recently heard about Craig LeHoullier and the Dwarf Tomato Project. So excited to learn more about the DTP! I jest ordered several varieties. I always enjoyed your PBS show. So glad you're on UA-cam now. I'm going to go back and watch your earlier shows.

Welcome back!! Always happy to learn more about tomatoes, and I’m so excited to see what’s in store for this season!
Wow! What an enjoyable, peaceful and knowledge filled video. A footprint of work that will continue in time.
Yay! Joe is back!
These beautiful tomatoes taste like sincere friendship among all the people gathering in this wonderful celebration by nurturing joy and good feeling inside each heart full of strength to keep doing this excellent job, otherwise; you all wouldn't be so happy in this joyful moment in your lives, I wish I could be there with you all, by the way here in Brazil tomatoes are a little expensive to buy at the Supermarket 😊
So nice of you. Thanks for these kind words! 💚🍅🌱
Very nice to see so many gardener in one location and enjoying there gift of growing.I love the Cherokee Purple tomato. Just wonderful to watch!! Happy Gardening💚🪴
Missed my favorite show! I’m happy to see this.
Love, love this!
Yep! One of my favs! 💚🍅
I'm so happy to see the show is back. I look forward to all the episodes. I was just wondering if Craig separated tomato plants for the seeds he wants to save or does he just grow them all together. I want to save more seeds, but always worry about cross-pollination.
Wow! Grew plants from seeds this summer for the first time. Loved growing varieties new to my knowledge. Next year growing for taste.
Responding to Ann Walsh- I viewed a presentation by Craig at the Seed Savers Conference in July and asked the same question to him. He answered that tomatoes were primarily self-pollinating so cross pollination between plants even if they are in close proximity was not an issue. Honestly, I was surprised by this answer; as a novice gardener, I planted several varieties in a plot together and did I ever get some weird looking tomatoes- all colors and shapes. The bees must have had an important part in that gardening year!
Tomatoes were my gateway drug. Someone please help… I’m addicted to gardening !!!!
Same here! 🙌
Great video, love his book too.
Yayyy he's back 😊😊😊😊😊
This was so beautiful! Appreciate you guys and the content you put out there so much! There really is nothing that brings people together like plants and the many ways we use them, sending lots of love!
I do appreciate your knowledge and videos, Joe! You always inspire me!!
My dad always grew Toma. When he passed, my mom did. Now I do ❤
* tomatoes
God Bless you Craig
This is so helpful with ideas on the different ways you can grow tomatoes in a small space, which I have. I have been starting tomatoes for our local, food banks community garden. I provided them with 100 volunteers cherry tomatoes that provided the community 180 lbs of fresh tomatoes.
I am finding saving the tomato seeds quite a challenge. Could you please do a show highlighting tomato seed saving?
It would be such a help to me. Always Love what your doing. I've been watching on PBS since your very first episode. THANKS JOE!
There are a LOT of UA-cam videos on how to save seeds. I like the “ferment” method. Happy growing.
GREAT GREAT episode Joe.The first tomato on the show Metallica. When Craig is on the show needs to be a hour long.
I love your videos, I really miss them 🥰
Could you provide a link to the bags shown on this episode. Also, what is the soil recipe used?
Great video packed with valuable information!
Loved the video. It gave me an idea of how I will be planting my tomatoes this year, using straw bales. How far ahead do you prepare the bales before the actual transplanting process? Fertilizing, etc. Thank you!
Lol I used to rest in fall but now am fall gardening
Another awesome episode 💚
He's back... :)
Where did you say you got the wire for your tomatoes and peppers?
Tractor Supply.
Hi 👋 Joe enjoyed your video on Tomatoes 🍅 there 1 other varietie it's what they call simi-determeant Tomatoes 🍅 and then there is what they call Patio Tomatoes 🍅 just wanted to share that with you.
This video gave me an idea of growing tomatoes in straw bales. I noticed your guest was spreading fertilizer on top of the bales. I assume he watered them too. How far ahead of transplanting the tomatoes into the bales this is done? Thank you, Joe!
Find the book straw ball gardening at your library. Plenty of info on conditioning bales for planting
One Question, what do you do about the Pest. How did you keep the horn worms from eating your crop. Please help me with this dilemma....John
What are his ranking of best tomatoes?
Are the dwarf tomatoes mentioned available and what are the varieties?
I must have missed the name / type of the third the of tomato? I'm very interested
I have a problem with blight in South Texas. do you have a problem with it and if so how do you treat it? Thanks
What size bag of soil less soil?
Craig was using 5 gallon grow bags.
I hate to complain, because I really do love your show, and look forward to each new episode. However, this episode is a rerun of Episode 803. No doubt, it was a great episode, but will there be new content in future Season 12 episodes, or will you be airing previously-run episodes? It worries me to see a show starting to do too many re-runs and flashbacks, because that usually means the show is coming to an end. I hope that's not your situation, because it's a valuable series. Thanks for what you do.
I know you posted this months ago, but did COVID even cross your mind as a possible reason that new shows aren't pouring forth??
Rerun!
My wife said she didn't like tomatoes until she tasted a green giant tomato, now she loves green tomatoes especially Cherokee green, spear's Tennessee green, malachite Russian green. My favorites , green giant, any of the Cherokee, Paul Robeson, Aunt Ginny's purple, stump of the world and Rose .
