I'm from Australia and even here Purikura was a pretty popular thing when I was in high school, or at least within my friend group. I still have all the photos, I keep them in a small tin and look through them when I want to feel nostalgic. Ahhh, memories :)

Like I said in my last comment, I love these booths! If we had them here in the USA I would have used them like made as a kid and even now! I once got a normal photo booth picture where I was inside a wanted poster like a pirate that I loved. My late mom hated it but she like the picture.

i LOVE purikura back then in the days !!!! Back then in the 90s in singapore where i am from , we have the SNK Neo Print , and i use to take pictures with this machine , a lot ... and there is another one too from konami called puri puri canvas , in which you can draw on your this pictures once you are done with it !! And i do remember in the puri puri canvas , there is like little hiyokos in their shells !!!! I missed them so much !!!! Nowadays we dont have that much of purikura in singapore .... but i still miss the old machines on which i used to take pictures with !

John, your videos are simply amazing. I visited Japan in March of 1998 and I can clearly remember taking the purikura pictures with my friends when I was there. It was a lot of fun. The technology and booths have really advanced. Sorry If this is a question you have already answered, but have you ever made a video telling your story of how you made it in japan? Thanks again.

I was going to film a maid cafe in 2013 but -- most of the ones I knew about were out of business. These days, chains have taken over and they are tourist traps for the most part. There are also already a lot of videos on it and that means it won't get much exposure on UA-cam. Maid Cafes are not in my plans for this year but you now have me thinking I should do one :) thank you! -John
