Becoming allergic is so damn hard, and honestly, your health and joy is as important as theirs. It would be really perplexing for anyone yo not understand this decision and empathise. I’m sure there will be some out there, but for the most part, I’m sure your community will remain. I’m sorry this has occurred and you’ve been dealing with it for so long too. Sending love 🫂🖤
Living w chronic illness is really difficult to begin with - like, just existing on the daily is so hard sometimes. I really can empathize w that. Adding in any extra stressors of any variety only compounds that daily struggle. Your love for your animals shines through as you navigate this difficult decision. Nobody else has to live in your house or your body so their opinions just do not matter. Sometimes in life, we unexpectedly find out things we thought would be forever end up only being for a season - but that doesn’t mean it was never worth it, & it doesn’t mean “never” again. It’s just that this particular season is coming to a close. A new season is just around the corner. That season can be good, too.
I genuinely hope you are able to find peace & better health going forward. I appreciate the years of rat care education - they’ve helped me so much. Thank you for being exactly who you are.
Thank you for putting that so perfectly. As sad as it is, I’m excited for this new season now I’ve accepted the old one is over and I already feel better about the decision 🥹
I love rats too, and eventually had to decide I needed a break too - no allergies, just acknowledging the reality of dealing with their short lifespans and many health problems. I LOVE rats and I love your channel, no matter which direction you decide to take it. No one's life stays static forever!
Your health is far more important 🥰 Besides some of us follow you because we like you. I, for example, only own Guinea pigs. I follow you because I like watching your content ❤
I'm so sorry you have to make this difficult decision. I'm allergic to cats and dogs and I react when visiting friends who have them. Even when the animals are outside or in another room the whole time! There is no possible way for me to own a cat or dog because I would be miserable 24/7. I don't judge you at all for wanting to stop owning rats, it's no way to live. I know I'm not unsubscribing and I'm sure that will be common sentiment. Looking forward to seeing where you go from here in your content :)
FYI, the protein cats produce you are allergic to can easily be suppressed by feeding them special food that is enriched with an antibody stopping the protein from being shed. Takes a week or two and you are allergy free.
@@maxnova9763that‘s a good tip - but be aware that it doesn‘t work with/for every cat/every owner. My bf didn’t experience any difference even after feeding our cats purina liveclear for 6 months…
As an avid animal lover AND a rat owner I will definitely not be unsubscribing. I'm excited to see where your animal journey ends up next!
I've followed you since you got your first rats and I will continue to follow for years and years to come. You're making the right choice even though it's a hard one 💜
I am so happy to see you have already shipped to Brazil, as a brazilian myself. I will definitely buy things for my ratties from you in the future :)
Your new Chinchilla is so adorable!! I can’t wait for next week’s video 😆
Also sorry about Maple ❤️🩹
I’m so sorry, I have allergies and have trouble cleaning my cage as well. That and the heartbeat of when they pass away makes this batch. I like your videos with habitats for your mice and other animals. Excited to learn about your chinchilla
Excited to follow you as you enter a new phase of your pet owning journey! Wishing you all the best and hopefully less stress, although they will be dearly missed.
Now that I’ve put it out there I’m excited for this next chapter. Nothing good can come without change and although it’s sad, it’s for the best 🤞🏼
I left a comment on your short, not realizing you've had to decide to stop owning rats. I've struggled with that decision as well, particularly since I developed health issues shortly after getting my newest rats last summer (I've been allergic for several years but it's slowly been getting worse) that has made functioning normally difficult. I never got to introduce them to my older rats so I'm maintaining two cages (plus my hedgehog), with all the extra work that entails. All the animals are unfortunately getting minimal attention right now as I recover from surgery a couple of weeks ago.
Your allergies sound much worse than mine, since I can still handle mine and clean their cage if I wear a mask. I definitely can't sleep in clothes I handled them with, though, and they aren't allowed in my room at all. I tend to keep a shirt to put on before handling them and change after.
Looking forward to the chinchilla content! They're so cute!
20:26 OHHHH You got a Cincilla ♥️. Can't wait to see more of her. Especially since where I live it's like 50C° in summer so I don' think I'll ever see one in the flesh.
It’s getting up to 40c here some summers 😳 they’ve got to have their own air con
Hey Emi! I got rats yesterday and they are the sweetest things!! Thanks for all the tips ❤
You're doing what's best for both you & your rats, I'm so sorry it's come to this 🖤 It feels like the end of an era. I've personally never owned rats, I follow you and watch your content for you and how calming your videos are. I won't be going anywhere and I'm sure I speak for the majority. Excited to see what's next - and meet your new dustbunny!! 🥰🥰
Thank you 🥹🥹🥹
I really relate to your experience of having rats. I’ve had rats for the last 5 years and earlier this year I had to rehome my last girl after her sister passed. I had moved to a college dorm and it wasn’t fair to have my parents care for them when they didn’t necessarily want to. It was a really hard decision and it felt like the end of an era. I felt the same way about rats being “my personality” because they were one of the most important things to me. But in my case it was definitely the best decision for their sake and Pancake is living the rest of her days with other old lady rats. It’s a really hard decision but you don’t need to feel shame about it about your audience will still be here.
Your health is far more important, i follow you because i like you and your content, I no longer have rats myself because it bothered me a lot that they don't get that old unfortunately, the loss every time was too hard, I therefore switched to keeping chinchillas and I now have 6 boys in pairs of 2. So 3 cages. Btw your chinchilla is adorable 🥰 , I look forward to knowing more about her.
I’m so sorry for your loss and that’s a really hard decision but I am glad you made that decision because its hard being allergic to a pet❤😭
I love your channel and animals. I can’t wait to watch you post any of your future pets and the wonderful wildlife on your farm.
Your rat videos really inspired me to do a ton of research about them! ❤ It’s been so fun watching all your funny rat videos and your boys are so cute . I completely respect your decision and I think you made the best choice 🐀
I'm so excited to be introduced to your chinchilla! So cute and we are so excited!!!
Hey, it's understandable. You gotta do what's best for you. I'll look forward to see what the future holds for you and the rest of your animals!
Sending my support. Your health is so important ❤And congratulations on your new addition!
Another lovely catch-up!
I think you are making the best decision and I can't wait to see what's next for your channel in the coming years
I found you when I got my rats, I am so grateful. I will always support
You definitely gotta put your health as a top priority!❤
I love and follow you although I’ve never owned rats. I do own mice and you’ve helped me so much with giving them an enriching and fulfilling life and have helped me bond my new girls with my original girls.
As well as helped me learn how to bond with my mice in the beginning!🥰
You are awesome!
Thank you for everything you do!❤❤
Your health is so important! Found you when me and my husband started having rats in 2017. Now we are down to four and we have decided to take a break. Going to try and re-home them
So sorry you have to make such a hard decision and worry how It will affect your store and chanel😔❤
I'm about to go order some suff for my 4 rat boys from your store, no new country to scratch tho🇸🇪💕 Looking forward to see your new friend in the next video💗 All the love to you and the pets
I'm so sorry to hear you can't have rats anymore. It's a hard decision and I totally support that your health is more important! I did start watching you back when I wanted rats but couldn't have them, but now I just enjoy your content in general and am really looking forward to the Chinchilla! Also I'm probably getting my own rats this year, so I'll definitely stick around and support you! I love all your small (and big) pet content
I completely understand why you need to take a break from owning rats! I have had to take a break from owning rats or any pets while dealing with some chronic health issues. It's sad, but it never pays to ignore your health. I hope your allergies improve soon I love your channel and will watch it whether you own rats or not. Hopefully we will both be able to own rats again one day! ❤
Hey Em! I developed the exact same allergy that you did throughout my couple of years owning rats. It’s such a hard decision to make to give up on keeping them after your last ones pass away, they’re one of the most rewarding pets I’ve ever kept. Please look after yourself and monitor for signs of developing asthma from prolonged exposure to the ratties! 💖💖 love from Australia
so sorry you have to make this decision🥺 i’m not going anywhere though, i enjoy all of your animals and vlogs! i also own mice so love your videos on them too☺️
I follow you for your personality and our shared love for animals, I wont be going anywhere ❤
I adore your channel and wanted to share with you that I had a very similar experience with rats and becoming allergic that eventually ended up with the allergy becoming dangerous. I had rats for around 6 years, but when I started out caring for them I only had light hives, and only if they really scratched me up. Over the years that evolved into huge hive outbreaks when I held them, then breathing issues, then to me having to carry a rescue inhaler, and finally with me ending up in the ER during a cage change because my throat swelled closed and I was gasping for air. The last couple of rats we had were over 2 years old when I realized I had to stop keeping rats, and in order to care for them I had to take prescription allergy meds, wear a mask in the room with them, and constantly use my inhaler. Even then I could only stay in the room with them for a max of ten minutes, and I was suffering breathing problems at home in other rooms. I basically had to banish myself from their room except for care and medication time, and it sucked to know I was missing the last bit of their lives. It breaks my heart to know I can't keep them anymore as they were my favorite pets, but I know at the end of the day that it's not fair to me, the rats, or my other pets that I couldn't spend much time with since I couldn't enter the room where we keep our pets for long.
We totally understand why you made that decision! Your health is always so much more important, and it’s not fair for you or the rats! I’m so sorry you had to make this decision. I hope you’re okay ❤❤
You’re making the right decision, it’s so hard when the most confident fun mouse passes I still miss my baby chips , excited to see Miss Chinchilla! Less allergen inducing
I'm so sorry you developed an allergy to your rats. When I first got rats I always watched your content and was able to learn so much. Thank you for your hard work, it is appreciated
Very understandable, your health comes first. I ask you about them a long ago, but there's also the Gambian pouched rat that could be an option. They also have longer lifespans. Just an option if you ever want rats or some type of rat species back into your life.
Aw I really feel for you with your allergies, I am the same with guinea pigs, yet I have 22 of them 🤦♀️ I decided its worth it for me, but its so unfair to expect you to suffer for content.. youve got to put your health first. Fingers crossed one of these days theres better, more permanent relief/treatment for allergies!
I can’t wait to watch this!
I completely understand this decision as I have also developed a rat allergy over the years. My girls recently passed away and i’m very unsure about whether or not I plan on getting any more. This is the first time in over 5 years where I haven’t owned rats, and its TOUGH (but not being itchy and being able to breathe is kind of nice lol)
Aww your new chinchilla is so cute!! Also i just ordered things for my gerbils, in sweden ❤
Omg i'm so sorry for your loss rest in peace Maple 😢
i know how you’re feeling emi 🥺 i just sold my last rat cage yesterday, which means officially no more rat related items in my house anymore. i had made rats my whole life/personality too. people knew me as the crazy rat lady because i had 12 lol. it was really hard rehoming my last 2 boys about a month ago, so that they would get to live in a group again. i know it was for the best though 😔 rats are still in my heart forever and always 😭🩷
I'm sorry you had to make this decision, but your health is more important. I definitely won't stop watching you! ☺
Sad to hear that Maple passed. 💔
Also I got new baby rats like a month ago now, 3 cute little boys, Gatsby, Enzo and Gizmo, the intros with my 2 older boys went so well. ❤
Edit: Also looking forward to all the chinchilla content!
I hope it goes well! I won't miss doing rat intros thats for sure, so stressful. Although I've heard chinchillas can be just as hard if not harder so I'm dreading it haha
@@Emiology The intros are already done, they have been living together for some time now, today I finally gave them access to all of the savic suite royale cage, the babies are having so much fun with all the extra space. This intro went even easier than with my first one, I don't know how long that luck will last. 🙈
I've also heard chins can be difficult with intros, but luckily they have long lifespans, so it's not something that needs to be done often. Best of luck! ❤
That’ll teach me for trying to read and walk at the same time 🙈 I’m glad it went well! That last stage where you can open the cage back up and put all their nice things back in is the best! My current youngest boys took ages to realise the cage now had another level lol
I'm definitely not leaving.
You are doing whats best for you and your ratties.
I've lost 3 of my older girls since end of January. One suddenly who died in her sleep. Then 2 who had tumours return and at over 22 months I had to let them go. Honestly that vet trip broke me. Essentially when one of my girls jumped into my arms after euthanasia and just didn't want to sleep. She was my high five girl, she'd high five ppl that passed her cage. She passed high fiving my hand😢❤
Honestly my ratty room seems so wrong. Treat time seems wrong, the empty cage breaks me. But I have 2 older boys and 2 young females that still need me. I got the younger girls to live with my girls, but now they are gone. I don't know what to do..
Very cute little mice.
I have loved watching you with your rats, and your mice. You are so gentle and kind. I wonder if you might have been able to get a break from allergic reactions by reducing the bedding altogether and replacing it with unconventional bedding like cotton or other safe fabric.
Also have ypu considered running an air filter? Or perhaps housing those little fur buddies in an area with more air flow and less other possible pollutants for example like freshly painted surfaces.
I would really value future vlogs on those mice and rats since you are the sweetest, kindest animal handler I have found on UA-cam.
Best of luck. I'll still be watching.❤
Replacing their bedding with things like fleece would definitely make the allergies worse as the ammonia levels would be higher and it’s their pee I’m allergic too! I have a great air purifier that helps and when I’m not in there / talking it’s turned on max, I do notice a difference when it’s getting full.
Allergies aside I’ve got a list of 10 other reasons why I feel my time of owning rats is naturally coming to a break / end 🥲
Aw this is sad but makes me sad for you having to stop owning rats rather than sad for myself as a viewer, i enjoy watching your videos no matter what animal they are about as theyre always informative, so don't worry, people will still enjoy your content ☺️ its just a shame that you've had to make such a tough decision, if i suddenly woke up allergic to gerbils i'd be stressed, anxious and devastated, so i can only imagine how you must be feeling. And Aw what a cute chin chin I LOVE chinchillas, looking forward to seeing more of her and being introduced 😊
Oh no! I hope you are ok, and I will pray that you find a good home for them. this is sad.
I love 💕 the tiny mouse.
Please don't worry about disappointing anyone, I'm sure all of us agree that your health and well-being is more important than any video content, though it is heartbreaking to have to distance yourself from pets that you love😥❤️ but, I'm sure the future will hold much joy as well, especially with the new additions to your pet family!
I understand perfectly that you can't have any more rats. You have lots of other beautiful animals to show us in your videos. I love Chinchillas and have never seen one in any of the videos I subscribe to. I can't wait.😍🐹❤Take care of yourself and don't worry about your fans, they'll keep following you I'm sure.
I started watching you 3 years ago when we got 4 female rats. We then got 2 male rats who we kept in a separate room. All of those rats are now sadly dead except for 1 female, who is nearly 3 years old, and we have bought 2 more young females to keep her company. So you have been part of our journey with the 8 rats we have owned since I found your channel. With most of them now gone (RIP Mouse, Val, Strawbs, Otis and Milo) and you too giving up rats, well as they say nothing lasts forever. Good luck with your life after rats
It's the best decision considering the situation. ❤
Teak having her eye drops ❤ the drops as big as her eye ❤ pleased all are doing well. I initially started following you because of your rats 🐀 but love Hubble & river 🧡🧡 and all your pets 😊
So hard to get them in when the drops are bigger than her eyes lol they're an odd consistency too where it just goops on the top and doesn't go in like human eye drops do
Thank you ❤❤❤
I have never unsubscribed from a channel from them switching content-type. I support the creator, regardless of the content :)
Allergies suck. I'm so sorry that you've developed such a reaction to rats/mice. It's hard when the fuzzes you love are the very creatures you have to avoid, at least to some degree. For your sake, I hope that it's only a temporary thing and that you'll be able to enjoy interacting with them again to the fullest extent without having to suffer any repercussions. If this ends up being a long-term thing, though, I truly hope it doesn't impact your channel. Even though I discovered you through rat-related searches, you have so much knowledge to offer on pet-keeping in general, and I've always liked your style of videos. What's most important is your health. The last place you want to be uncomfortable is in your own home, so I (and I'm sure many others) would much rather you feel better! Rats or no rats, I'll still be sticking around.
On another note, I realized that I'd never actually subscribed to your channel, even though I've been watching your videos for a couple of years now. Time to rectify that.
I'm surprised that rats like mullet spray! I thought only birds like that! Learned something new!😊
Hamsters like millet sprays too
They may like oat sprays too!
Also, sorry you lost little Maple 💔
im so sorry Emi ! I know you love rats but health is more important. Hopefully you feel better soon! I'll edit my comment once I get my first pet rats and let you know how im going though!! edit: maybe in 5 days.. 🫢
Wait a minute, your rats and mice are going to see pop star Adele? I wish nothing but the best for youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.
Hi Emi, I have missed some videos, so perhaps you already addressed this, but have you considered allergy shots? They can be a game changer for allergy sufferers. Take care ❤
Totally get this!! I have randomly developed an allergy to my near 15 year old cat! And while I would NEVER rehome her, I wouldn’t get another after her even though I absolutely adore them :( ❤❤
My worst nightmare 😭 I wouldn’t be able to do it either but I’d be so sad to not get another
@@Emiology I’d never had an animal allergy but they do run in my family! I thought I was getting hayfever but then every day I was waking up (she sleeps on my pillow) with my eyes streaming and itchy. Now every time I cuddle her I have sneezing fits, itchy throat, sore red eyes and wheezing. It’s so random that it’s developed like this and makes me so sad :( but she is my baby (I don’t want human children) and I couldn’t let her go bless her!
Oh and to add, I ended my ratty keeping journey nearly a year ago or so now, and have watched your content since regardless of the subject :) our only animals in common are cats and leopard geckos but all your videos are relaxing and enjoyable! 🙂
I’m so sorry but hopefully in the future you will have new rats but if you cannot that’s fine because health and safety is very important ❤
I developed a similar allergy with my first pair of rats. It sucks, you can't touch your pets however you want anymore, I used allergy meds just to be able to be in my apartment.
I’m getting rats soon! I’m getting 3 and a cat tree for them lol
You got a chinchilla!!!! Yay!!
Im not sure if you have them, but a few really good hepa filters helped me when I was having allergies to my babies. I would also wear a p100 respirator mask when I cleaned their cage. I would also clean the cage outside. Will stay subrscribed. hope things go well
I have to make a similar decision soon regarding my ratto boys...it sucks 😭
I’m allergic to mouse hair, though I’ve never held a mouse or had any of my own so I’ve never had an allergic reaction. Not even when we had a mouse infestation. It just showed up in my list of allergies when I was tested for allergies. I’m kind of sad about it because before that, I really wanted to have mice someday. I have had rats before though and thankfully I never had any obvious allergic reactions to them.
Are you waiting to scratch off Alaska for when you get an order specifically from alaska? It is a part of the United States so you could scratch that off if you wanted to. I'm so sorry that your allergy has become so difficult I know that that has to be such a horrible decision for you to make
I was never allergic to my rats until I took a break from owning them for a few years then when I started keeping them again I was wheezy with trouble breathing and it turns out I'd developed an allergy to them which is now asthma. I went through menopause which has made my asthma worse and I now wear a full filter mask when I clean out and free range them or else I just can't breathe. Do you wear a mask when cleaning out and handling? If you do and you are still coughing up blood then it's absolutely time to prioritise your health over having rats
I had a rat when i was a kid, unfortunately she passed early in her life. I haven't owned any since, i think the whole experience of losing her was a lot. Hopefully I'll be able to get over it, while it is sad, I would love to try and own one (or maybe two) again.
Please own two, rats have to thrive in at least pairs.
can u make more reakting vidios cuz i love them sooo mutch
i have a few quetsionsss
1. where did you get your bedding gaurd for your rats? can’t seem to find one like yours.
2. what is a good cheap, recommended bedding for rats (the whole bottom)
3. and what is the link to your store?
it would be greatly appreciated if you answered these and i’m so excited to see the future with the chinchilla my friend just recently got one and i was shocked to here how long they lived! have a good day/ night
I ordered the Perspex from a website called the plastic people and I have a video on my channel of how to put it together.
Big bales of dust extracted kiln dried shavings for horses tend to be cheapest, I use bedmax currently.
My store is linked in the description but it’s bogglebuddies.com 😊😊😊
@@Emiology thank you so much for answering !! i definitely look up to you when it comes to rats
I followed you before I got mice, after over 20 mice over the years ( I also was rehomed 2 pregnant mice!) I’ve chosen to stop owning any more after my last girls , who I will rehome when my grouo gets down to 2-3.
Life has gotten too busy, and due to the amount of male mice I eneded up with, that I couldn’t rehome, I don’t think it’s fair on them to keep, as I’ve exams. I now also would like to spend kore time with my cat in my room, where I keep my mice.
❤❤❤
I lost one of my first mice not long ago. Lossing abimals is so hard
this has got to be super hard for you, of course you love your rats and want to give them all the love they but for you these pets are also a part of your business, I hope this does have a minimal impact on your career. the emotional pain is already bad enough
My rat just gave birth to 12 kittens, i was so happy for her until I realised she isn’t nursing any of them, she pyshic ally avoids, and runs away from them. We have her plenty of food, water, a quiet environment, and it’s been hours and she still won’t. I’m getting scared for her and her babies. I think I’ll lose all the babies if she keeps this up. She’s a first time mother
Im so sorry you need to stop getting rats :( but it’s for the best and i will always enjoy your channel no matter what type of animals you have❤
I am so allergic to chinchillas. I won’t have rats. And i’d rather stick to cats, dogs, chickens, & a hamster. I watch your content for you and kitty! Victoria sent me over here years ago!!!
You’re the first person I’ve heard of who’s allergic to chinchillas! Is it their fur?
@@Emiology It’s mainly chinchilla bedding actually. I’m not sure. At university a roommate had one and I was sneezing for months straight.
Hiya Emi, while I am sorry to hear that you have to stop owning rats. I had a question but can you tell me the best way to own rats with a dog? He's a cocker spaniel so I know he's a working dog and that they don't mix too well. But if I were to keep my rats in my own room (I'm aware of the cons of this already), would that work well? Thanks.
Just a question will you still be doing some rat videos because
usually I go to you for information about rats
I’ll do some but probably not as often. I haven’t really done care videos for a while now as I prefer vlog type videos instead 😊
::hugs::
Hey Emi, just wondering if I'll need to trim my mice's nails? Sorry about all the questions lately! ❤
You don’t! One of my mice griffin has nails that curl inwards so I need to trim his but usually they don’t need doing 😊
@@Emiology Great, thank you! Also sorry about your allergies with the rats that sounds like a really tough thing to be dealing with. We will be here supporting you the whole time 💗
I've been struggling with the decision to stop owning rats after my current mischief. Not due to allergies but personal choice and life in general making it more difficult. But I love rats and love owning/ having them (a lot of my females prefer their cage mates over me. Nothing has felt the same after losing my heart rat and I just can't keep doing it forevermore. Just saying while i'm not in the same situation I can at least understand that it's a hard decision to make and one I'm certainly going to struggle to stick to since they are such great pets 😅
Allergies aside I’ve felt the same way! I haven’t felt right about owning rats since my heart rat crumble passed away, it just feels like doing the same thing over and over again and losing them feels quicker every time 🥲
@@Emiology That's exactly it. i lost one of my rats a couple of months ago very suddenly, and one of my other more friendlier/human orientated girls has a tumor now. I've (accidentally 🤭) ended up owning far more girls than boys, so it's been a lot of tumors etc sadly, and I just know how it's going to end. like you say, it's the same thing over and over and I just can't anymore 💔
Hi Emi! Quick question about one of my mice, Posh. When I first got her back in August last year I noticed that her left eye was slightly red. I never thought much about it until recently when I noticed that it’s been getting worse and it’s making her constantly squint one or both of her eyes to the point they are almost shut. It might be allergies, but I don’t know for sure so I wanted to get your thoughts before I make any decisions or do something that won’t make any difference. What do you think it is and how should I fix it? I’d like to add that my other two mice are perfectly healthy and I’ve noticed nothing off or wrong about them, it’s only Posh that is concerning me.
It’s impossible to fully say without seeing it in person but a vet should be able to tell you what’s going on. Is it her actual eye or the fur / skin area around the eye and it’s got bigger?
@@Emiologyit’s just the fur around her eye
It could be an allergy, it could also be something like mites or staph infection but a vet will be able to look at it and assess what it is in person 🤞🏼
@@EmiologyThank you for your help, I appreciate it!
I am so sorry
the irony of being the biggest thinker and person of influence in the rat ownership realm, and also becoming allergic; is not lost upon me.
Hi, i know im late, but can you maybe one day make a video on how to train you're rat to not pee on stuff, because my ratties pee on my bed, and im wondering if i can somehow train them to not do that?
14:20 I have kind of not been following up on your allergies. While I've been watching, I find myself not really being entirely "in" on your allergies. Do they trigger from all rodents or is it just the rats? Could you keep having mice? (I know you prefer rats to mice, though) I would be devastated if allergies kept me from my tiny floofs :/ My condolences.
I am having the Exact same allergy issue with my rats, specifically my boys and have decided going forward I'm sticking to girls. I was wondering how the chinchilla is with your allergies? Has she been gentler on them than the boys?
From what I’ve read and heard from speaking to others including my vet they tend to be quite hypoallergenic. I haven’t noticed a smell with her at all so not irritated in that regard either! Only thing might be the dust from their dust baths or hay if people have a hay allergy 😊
have you started eating differently since the allergies developed? wheat & sugar are antagonists to animal allergies
Nope!
Can u maby try midicine when u have them it may help on ur aligis
I have, doesn't do anything :\ It's not the only reason I want to have a break from owning them too
My white rat with black eyes that was from the same litter as yours (breeder in Scotland) was the worst behaved rat I’ve ever had in regards to temperament and really put me off from getting more, and hearing you say you had issues a couple years ago the time matches up and make me wonder if you had issues with yours 👀
Do you mean the black eyed ivory rat Polo I had? Or my Siamese one Pudding
@@Emiology the Ivory… My male was viscious but maybe I just got unlucky
My rats from her were the ones that restored my faith in owning rats again after having so many that had issues with either other rats or people. I was honestly on the brink of stopping owning rats at that point but they gave me a nice break from having rats that were difficult or needed neutering. I get it though, I’ve done the ‘right’ thing and gone to breeders that were highly recommended to me and ended up with rats that were more unhealthy and unfriendly than rescue rats that had hardly been handled or neglected. It’s one of the many reasons why I’m stopping owning rats because there’s such politics over where to get your rats from, you try and do the right thing and end up with rats with issues that completely put you off.
You chin is so cute
Hi Emmi I’m very interested in the mobile small pet service, do you know if they cover the north of England and if not do you know of any that do ? TIA
She might do I’m not sure! Best to email and ask 😊 As far as I know she’s the only one in the U.K. doing it for small pets

I wasn't allergic the first time i had rats, 30 years ago. A few years ago i thought they would be terrific pets for my son. But by then i had become allergic. Cleaning the cage was terrible. The mouthmasks we wore for covid helped a little bit, but it was terrible. Sneezing, teary eyes, itchy skin, if i handled them. Sorry you have to stop owning them.
