One of the best dissemble videos I've ever seen mate, really clear and to the point. Much appreciated! Not played much around with coaster hubs but I've got one I need to service, this will definitely be on repeat as I drink myself to oblivion putting it back together.
Mijn wiel was zo uit elkaar gevallen ik kon mij niet bedenken hoe het had geweest toen hij nog goed was.Dank voor de goede uitleg film maakt veel duidelijk
Incredible video, man. I couldn't find a tutorial this detailed for my bike. I appreciate the extra mile you went through to make this video more easily understood.
I recently utilized your content in assisting me with my reassembly. I appreciate your emphasis regarding letting gravity hold the mechanisms in place while the other hand rotates the sprocket, seizing everything into place. Thank you for posting!!
That was as good a demonstrstion as i could expect to see . Clear and loud enough audio so i can watch the video and listen to it at the same time rather than holding the phone speaker to my ear . And you did the assembly twice for me
Excellent tutorial. Thanks a million! I had to go through several and yours was the first that was the same. Putting the brake pads in is what was most helpful to me.
Took the grandson bike hub apart a month ago , this really helped only thing I took the sprocket off the hub which has a spring ring retainer even thru you didn’t mention this I seen the orientation the correct way in your video. Thank you for posting .
Thanks so much for this great video! Helped me a lot! You went through this with great clarity and helped clear the fog around the mysterious inner parts of the coaster brake! Assembly was successful, thanks again!
Great help, Great video. Thanks a lot. I was stuck when assembling.frustrated and mad and hit the bearing because it was not sitting properly and the bearing got bent. but now I know I can do it.ordered a new bearing. waiting for it to arrive. my worry is not assembling, my worry is the lock nut and cone got stuck together I even tried with a vice but failed to loosen the lock nut. is it because I soaked it in vinegar? I thought it will remove rust but it got stuck together like lock nut and cone nut is welded together. I might have to order new shaft but dont know how to order it. it is 6 inch long both side threaded shaft. dont know any of the technical names. thanks again.
Hey, thanks for the video. Just wondering, if my bike is getting soft brake, is that means I need to replace something? Usually what do I need to replace if the brake isn't as strong as the day I bought it?
Wow that was a life saver. Very very helpful, thank you!! I was struggling so bad to put it back together. The only problem I have now is that after I disassembled and greased everything, it's still making noises. Any idea what would cause this?
How far back should I place the rear wheel? Seems like the original sat towards the end of my frame, seems dangerous shouldn't it sit as far back as the frame allows it? Has an opening on the rear mount where the coaster attached now I can adjust them all being I'm (upgrading) the chain. just making sure so the chain isn't sagging or too tight, it's obviously a single speed also a beach cruiser.
This video was great, but I did run into an issue - more than likely just my own personal problem and situation, but adding my two cents. The part where it came to inserting the brake pads.. and allowing “gravity to hold everything together” - this specific part was not a good time. I had tried numerous times to slip the brake pads “up” and inside but the second pad would get stuck and never fully insert, or the first pad would fall right out, or ball bearings would pop out… rinse and repeat, the same 3 issues. I ended up assembling separately the worm-gear/clutch/aligned the notches/held the pads on/together, then inserted it all as one unit, screwing only from the socket side, not the side where I held the unit together. It installed correctly the first time with this approach. I still could not have completed this with confidence without this video, thank you!
I've been thinking about this one for my 68h hole rims. I want to remove the two brake pads and the arm. The only way to do this without slop is to hacksaw or Dremel the flange that the arm rests on. Then you can add an additional round hole washer to eliminate the slop. (I don't want risk scratching my bike frame. frame>thrift store rims.)
Great video, however I’m having a small issue. When I tighten up at the end it ends up pulling together the whole thing and then it’s so tight the wheel won’t spin. What am I doing wrong ?
when i removed the sprocket, there was lots of play by itself. What can I do to solve the problem before it goes back on the bike?? there is lots of side to side play but also up and down? thank you great video as well
Shouldn't be any up and down play unless the bearing or bearing housing is worn. Side-to-side play can be tightened as seen here 10:41 Hope this helps 🙂
@@wildwoodtop thanks for responding so quick appreciate it very much. The coaster was removed from ther axle and is still connected to the gear. Can i foward you a video on instagram to help me ? I would greatly appreciate it brother. Thanks God bless
@CarlosX Pro Max if you just bought it maybe its got warranty. seems like a problem that shouldnt be happening for a new buy. I rebuilt the coaster setupon a bike i have recently. I had multiple bikes to pick parts from.take the sprocket assembly apart. there is a snap ring holding it together, and also a little space to keepthe pressure on the sprocket so there is no play. if its new it should include all parts but if you took it apart make sure you have all the parts and arent missing anything.
Might need to switch to a New Departure brake hub. They perform excellently. I swear by them. Sturmey Archer and Bendix just don't make much sense to me.
Is the brake function adjustable? I've had mine apart numerous times and the brake power seems weak or low. I've had BMX bikes that had more grab in the past. This is one doesn't have any bite and won't lock up the tire.
what grease to put to this part which is call ' breaking shoe ' ; I mean what kind ; for example some are not proper [grease] to put , join with aluminium [ I mean for example grease for brakes]
He did not show the go in for the kill part on the grease ,what he means is put a lot of grease , I use high temp grease especially if your flying like a bat out of hell downhill LOL🤣

Fantastic breakdown. Wish I found this before fiddling around for 4 hours the other day. Still, it helped stabilize my mania

Im clean and assembled correctly yet the hub doesnt spin. Im greased. No burrs. Im stumped

Excellent.. I'm still having problems.. Bearings are new, re-assembled and tested good. The coaster brake KICKS BACK when the brake is applied..?
I'm assuming you have the brake arm attached / secured to the bike frame 🤔

Long as you don't have it too tight it should spin without any noise
Best one on youtube!
Thanks for this video man. The bike I'm restoring is completely rusted out and I'm nervous about taking the coaster brake out.

What is the part called with the notches? If anyone in the comments can help me. Please and thank you

Yeah those brake pads are the tricky part But in the end you had success! That's what matters

I have disassembled my hub numerous times and it still clicks I think I should stretch my springer??? What do u think
I don't know if that will work but what I do when I have trouble is try things and see how it works. (hence backwoods ingenuity 😋

The degree of breaking on this style is based on the amount of downward pressure placed on the pedal
@@wildwoodtop makes sense. This particular bike has short crank arms.
what grease to put to this part which is call ' breaking shoe ' ; I mean what kind ; for example some are not proper [grease] to put , join with aluminium [ I mean for example grease for brakes]
Wheel bearing grease on the bearings and 30 wt. motor oil on the brake is is what's recommended
Can i ask what size larger caged bearing you used? It would help a ton! Thanks!
Sorry I don't know the size 🥲 I didn't purchase a replacement 🙂
Thank You so very much!
I am hearing a ticking rubbing ,I put new bearings n still rubs and I can not figure out the issue
