The Kongos, in any other age, would be everywhere. It's a reflection of our times that the channels are too many. People are listening to something awful (but sometimes amazing impossible inspiring); they are listening to a million things.

I went to a gig to see a Ska band from LA and one of the many things that made it enjoyable was a couple over the age of 60 standing in the crowd near the front enjoying the music with everyone else. I hope you went. The band was called 'The Interrupters' by the way.

It's dark and confusing to the masses who have been drenched with happy pop music. The heavy drums + unfamiliar chord structure in the melody will give the general audience an uncomfortable thought or feeling that they dont listen to music for.
A lot of other artists are affected by this strict guideline if they're looking to appeal commercially also.

Accordion's aren't just used in Polka music :) they're actually nice to listen to. Qawwali music uses accordions as well.. which I think they said they lean more that way with their accordion stuff..

Olivia Figueras In an open Area, they were awesome. Not sure about in an arena, but I don't think it could hurt, their sound isn't to loud and it won't have unintentional Echoes.

Love the tempo changes that preserve the genuine, tribal beat inside the catchy tune. This is seriously fun music!

I still think it's the best song ever. Rhytmic, deep, addicting, original and just dope
Thematically, the chorus lyrics fit well with the groove. "I'm just fucking with your head" is emphasized by the time signature changing from 7/4, to 9/4 (or at least has that feel, but could also just be consistent 4/4), finally resolving with 6/4. Additionally, I love the drum groove breakdown where the rhythm was switching back and forth between swing and straight. It's a shame this song doesn't get as much attention as their "hit". This song is much more interesting musically speaking
It's super cool! It actually stays in 4/4 the entire time (even for the cuts near the end of the song), but you're spot on about the swing/strict rhythm.
Yeah the whole song is 4/4, but the drums stop syncopating a couple times. Freaked me out my first listen.

Just "discovered" these guys. Been hungry for some "new" music (well....new at least to ME)...........but I'm frequently disappointed these days. THIS band is different....more like the stuff we had back in the 60's/70's......small wonder: his dad was a musician, too....would have been likely from that era. Lovin' these guys so far.....still learning about their songs.

+Whitney Garrison I am sorry to be the music nerd, but I believe that the meter is a constant 4/4 pattern. Instead, the accents are put on the "ands" of the beats (in the transition). It still creates a great effect and is smart since this is meant to be a dance piece and 4/4 is the most common dance meter today. This allows for an interesting and different sound, but still comfortable for people to dance and listen to with today's norms.
If you don't believe me than count to 4, over and over, throughout the song. You should notice that it stays like that. I personally did this to make sure that I didn't say anything stupid.
