  • "Lord Mountdrago" by W. Somerset Maugham tells the story of a powerful and arrogant politician, Lord Mountdrago, who is troubled by disturbing dreams. These dreams feature humiliating scenarios involving a common Welsh Member of Parliament, Owen Griffiths. Seeking help, Mountdrago consults Dr. Audlin, a skeptical but gifted psychoanalyst, to rid himself of these troubling visions. The sessions reveal Mountdrago's inner fears and insecurities, ultimately leading to a shocking realization about the connection between his dreams and reality....
    won't reveal more here.

Maugham at his brilliant best and perfectly read. Much more than entertainment but truly great literature. Thank you so very much for bringing it to me

I have become a recluse. Todays society has driven me to disdain humanity. I'm so 😢 sad most of the time. Your stories have given me a joyfull reprieve from reality. ❤

...and so we meet, one faceless other to another, in the neural networks fused and diffused - at times hilariously confused - by an algorithm sensing our congeniality through words written a century and more ago.

Yes. Unfortunately he's almost forgotten today or dismissed as
a some kind of old fogey from
the 1930s. ! Especially by those who HAVEN'T read him...!!

I believe this story was the basis for the third part of a movie called "Three Cases of Murder" starring Orson Welles as the arrogant Parliament member.

Hi, is there possibly a chance of a part 2? This one is too good and too many loose ends for my mind to tie together on its own. *I mean there could be plenty of different outcomes of this fantastic story, and I most definitely would love if the story goes back in time to hear the perspectives of the other man, I don’t think this man would have sought after the same doctors help, but more reasonable would be if he had spoke with his family who came to see his triumph that awful afternoon, so it’s plausible that he might had consoled himself with his own family after that detrimental day in parliament?*
But/And *imagine if it’s the physician who is dreaming and is responsible for everything?*
As you notice I have no Idea whether or not there is more to this story but I certainly wish there is.
    Respectfully, Grace🩰
