I've been a part time Dumpster Diver for about 4 years now, I normally go out 2x per week for full dives and sometimes look around 1-2 complexes after the movies etc or on the way home. Overall my eyes are always scanning the curbs and behind shops.
My passion is travel vlogging or adventure vlogging, I love to dumpster dive but travel and filming is my passion. I will be doing both travel adventure vlogging and dumpster diving on this channel.

I made friends with a guy that operates a small dumpster business - mostly people moving or construction when he drops these dumpsters. Amazing what people throw away. He sorts everything and gives most to charity

Those textbooks you passed up, depending on how current they are, can fetch a lot of dough. Buying and selling used textbooks is a very legitimate business.

For anyone looking for an inside tip on dumpster-diving! Check in surrounding areas for college dormitories or student living areas. When school's over there is a mass abundance of household items/furniture that are just given away! months for cleanup workers to get cleaned ready for the next year. And like I saw on a comment on this video communication is key!you have Talk to people.. by the way items that are high quality are donated and divvied up to the local charities/ Goodwill, Etc...

I live about 1/2 mile from the dump. I've gotten. A2000 watt generator, a Black And Decker cordless lawn mower, a Bowflex XTL, a Fiskars reel mower, a multi effects pedal for my guitar, an acoustic guitar, a rug steam cleaner, a heavy bag, a chrome weight bar, about $1000 in air tools, angle grinder, circular saw, jigsaw, table saw, gym lockers, futon, computer desk, Korg SP 200 keyboard. mini guitar amplifier, cordless drills, portable ice maker, instant hot water dispenser. Blue Ember stainless steel barbecue. rotisserie grill. That's just the stuff I can think of at the moment. I've got a lot more.

Nicholas Nietzsche You should never presume to know what someone else thinks or why they do what they do. I can give you one example or a reason ( out of many ).
I will be throwing out a lot of stuff soon. I just spent the last twenty years of my life caring for my grandma then my mom. I am the last of my bloodline. I am very ill. I am moving. I don't have the strength to even pack. And the groups I called want their donations neatly boxed up. The employees not volunteers who are paid to pick up free items won't help and I explained my situation. So I will give some to friends and neighbors then pay my friends teens to bag up the rest and toss it out. I don't mind giving people stuff but people are lazy and greedy want free stuff without putting forth effort. So if they won't help box it up then tough luck.

Jane Doe so you would be mad at a person who wanted and had stumbled upon what's left thats heading to the landfil anyway? Because they "didn't help" with something they had no idea about help being needed with?.... sorry I don't follow the logic. I'm sure a lot of people would help if they could/knew. Sorry about your loss and good luck with everything.

I used to hit the dumpsters at the apartments we lived at. I did great at dumpster diving. People would downsize and throw away tons of stuff. I usually found lots of good stuff at the dumpsters. I should do the selling out of a storage unit thing. Good money. E-Bay sucks. I use Craig's list for most of my sales. I hate shipping stuff.

The sofas? Could be that they just don't go well in dumpsters/cans. Other things like monitors and vases etc. might be set aside with the idea that they ARE of value to someone like you. Don't always be too afraid of people. If you scurry off, they might think you think you are doing something wrong. So they call the police? Maybe they just want to know. Besides, they may give you a heads up on some good stuf-fa-fas ;-)

@PinkRoseRed Communism is a soceity when the means of production are owned by the workers, and a full communist society exists when money is useless. Which means the eradication of the existence of corporations and social classes with it. Part of Marxist theory.

You should do it. Follow your dreams.
I'm going to do it this summer.
I live in Fresno California at this time.
But plan to move to Florida this summer. I also have a UA-cam channel that I need to improve and make it better. My Chanel will be about road trips, Painting houses on the cheap. Traveling state to state. In the slow season dumpster picking for the flea market. Turning treasurer into hard cash 💰. I well be uploading my road trip from California to Florida. Just need to learn how to improve my channel.
Also get better from my right shoulder surgery. Before I leave California.
I'm a old timer that loves freedom to do what ever my heart feels like doing. Having said that. I follow my dreams and just do whatever Pops up.
We only live once. I already put my life on hold to long. Maybe I'll tell you more later on. I already told you to much about myself. Take care!

This is prob one of only about three or four videos ive ever seen w/ someone dumpster diving and getting decent stuff. So im not basing this on any of these vids or vids similar to this one. But id say that a pretty decent percentage of the nicer things found are from ppl that have moved out and didnt have means to take some of the bigger furn/etc. Or maybe someone that got evicted and/or the locks changed before they could get all their possessions. Also I have a friend of a friend that lives in a town w/ a military base next to it. He worked as a maintenance man or something on the base. And one of his jobs was to clean the apts out when the soldiers would be shipped out, on leave, or w/e!? But most of the time they would just leave all their stuff that they couldnt take w/ them. My friend said that his buddy would bring home all of the stuff, from electronics to cases of food, and that it was almost all brand new!

Corey M Any dumpster even those used by multiple residents as in an apt or condo is still on private property and thus you are trespassing if you do not get permission. Important to remember to ask. Some place don't want to be liable if you injure yourself on their property. And read your local laws some cities have laws against it. Once you know you are legal dig in and have fun.

Great if u find stuff u want but as a property owner when tenants move out n jus leave their stuff why would u wanna keep it? Who knows wot bacteria n disease they leave behind.... some tenants jus order things from catalogues n never pay up so they have no attachment to possessions as theyll jus buy em again in their next rented property....

It's hard to understand how you made a you tube channel finding stuff every day,I know if I lived in you state I would try to find the spots you go to
Were I live the maintenance guy would only bring that stuff out on trash day and keep the good stuff for himself or his friends

Seems quite odd that you just happen to find all this stuff just sitting by a wall, next to a dumpster all nice and neat. Are you sure you didn't just place it there for the video and to get views?

    • @BensbergFilms
      @BensbergFilms  6 років тому +1

A lot of people have asked that, and honestly I've never staged a find, the city where I live the average household income is way over 6 figures even in these places where I dumpster dive. These people just have too much money and don't take the time to give it away or sell it. It's to easy for them just to place it by the dumpsters 20 feet from their front door:)
