    I had a QSO with a different pedestrian mobile (M0DAD) in England a few weeks ago. Even more amazing is that I was using an indoor dipole in my attic in Virginia.

    This is so cool! I just got a few Maritime Mobile contacts recently. I got my first HF rig an IC718 and have been trying all sorts of different countries, areas, nets, etc. on 20 meters, 40 meters and even 60 meters. I have a lot of trouble with DX, 20 meters is super competitive so I get stepped on being in the lowest part of my county. Afternoon I usually connect the 34foot speaker wire extensions to talk on 40m's NVIS style as it is more casual and I can get out to any state to Mississippi river. 60 Meters is cool because most people are just shocked someone else even bothered to listen to the band lol.

    This reminds me of back in 70's when I was working at a motorola service center there was a joke going around about a portable mortar. 100 watt tube radio that very big and would have a control head, speaker, and mic under the dashboard of a car and a cable going to the trunk where the main radio is. Someone took a hand truck stacked a lot of batteries on the front, put the control head, speaker mic at the top of the hand truck with the big radio mounted on the hand truck. Coax going to a steal hardhat with a 1/4 wave 150 MHz antana on the hardhat. " Motarc walkie talkie " You would need to see this to see just how funny it looked! 100 wat walkie talkie!

    • @donaldsmith3048
      @donaldsmith3048 5 років тому +1

      @@ham-radio No dynamotor. HV is inside the motrac transformer with solid-state. Did have solid state receiver and part of the TX.. I am working on an exercise bike with a permanent magnet generator. If I get it worked out I can get my workout and make power.

      Yes. i am working on finishing that now. It is very extensive but may not do much. Smoke in the air here from some very large fires burning out of control Some people died in the fires. I have a big air cleaner running in here and more inside the house. Back to grounding Mike, I don't know why electrons would flow into the ground. What the electrons want to do is to return to the source. So, we shall see. 73 and thanks, Jim

    David question: what is this ground connect tuning? Is it dynamic while he is moving

    • @G4AKC
      @G4AKC 5 років тому +2

      Hi Peter, it's manually adjustable for different ground conductivity and operating frequencies... Generally if I am set up to walk by the beach on say 20m then no further adjustment is needed once the ground current is optimised.

    Nice "Wheeled Mobile" but *not* Pedestrian Mobile :) There are a lot of real /Pedestrian Mobile operators who would scoff that a wheeled cart or trolley is /Bike Mobile or /Human Powered Mobile. "Pedestrian Mobile" is *only* when the operator carries and supports the full weight of all equipment used for communication. Calling yourself Pedestrian Mobile doesn't make it so. Bike Mobile doesn't magically turn into /Pedestrian Mobile when you get off and walk the bike. The common exception for wheels is that Wheelchair Mobile operators are also considered /Pedestrian Mobile, but this exception is only for the non able-bodied operator. Congratulations on the DX contacts, and what a wonderful mobile setup, keep up the good work. - KQ6XA

He is stronger than many others from the UK. This when the solar index is at the bottom. Fun stuff for sure. Thanks again Bonnie! 73, Jim Heath W6LG
