    The windows don't roll up automatically so you don't amputate a body part. The steering can be stiffened up with steering stabilizers and tie rod ends.

  • @HikerAL1946
    @HikerAL1946 13 днів тому +1

    I would upgrade your steering stabilizer to a FOX model. I did so on my 2022 Rubicon UL and it steers great. My dealer recommended this from day one. I didn't get fancy I just found the FOX model that replaced the OEM part.

    I have a 2018 JL Rubicon and one thing learned from my godfather is that if you filled the tank when is halfway empty you will consumed less gas than waiting until the vehicle is empty.
    He worked for Toyota for over 40 years as a mecha 14:28 and he thought me many tricks and I do it all the time and it works for me.

    Great content, I use my wrangler as a "daily" drive to work as well, although I do not go to work everyday. Agree with the gear issue, I found out a cheap "cheating" way to solve the gear issue. When you want to cruise on highway, just switch to the manual mode, and put into gear 8. Wrangler will keep in gear 8 unless speed decreases significantly or you switch by yourself. The only catch to this solution is do not forget to put it back to drive gear if your speed will change significantly or you are going to go uphill which requires a lower gear for more torque to keep the speed of your wrangler.

    • @caseycrawls4466
      @caseycrawls4466  Рік тому

      Thank you very much. That cheat is a great idea! Since regearing I can hold 8th gear going up overpasses now...should have regeared sooner.

    I was gonna say, I'm listening to that motor rev up, and trans shift down constantly during this drive, so between those 35"s and that shifting, there goes your mileage.....take yer foot out of it and drop to 33's, or just love stopping for fuel, grab a drink and enjoy the drive.

    Another person commented much earlier about gearing but I want to ask. Did you adjust the speedometer and odometer for the 35 inch tires?
    Your fuel economy numbers don't add up. 75 miles per day for 3 days is 225 miles. 225 miles divided by 15 gallons is 15 mpg not 17.5 and that is if the tire size is true to the miles. I agree about the fuel tank size. I have a ( 4 door which in YHO is not really a Jeep) and my fuel tank is 18 gallons because I have the diesel engine which requires a 5 gallon DEF tank. So, is the smaller tank a 2 door Wrangler thing? You have 35 inch tires that are much heavier than stock tires. You have it lifted which means poorer fuel economy. You may not be displaying the correct miles and speed driven because of the larger tire size. You have had it 15 months and have only been off road about 4 times? Sounds like you need to have smaller tires for a daily driver. Just MHO.

    • @caseycrawls4466
      @caseycrawls4466  4 місяці тому +1

      A few questions to unpack...for adjusting for tire size, yes. I used the Tazer to adjust for the larger tire size. For fuel tank size, every time I run it down to where it says 0 miles to empty I can never get more than about 15 gallons in it. To be fair, I've never run it empty where it quits running so maybe it'll keep going a good while when it says 0 miles to empty. As for tires, yeah, I could have kept the 33" tires but I think proportionally it looks a lot better with the 35's. I daily drive this Jeep and have no real complaints about the 35" tires. As for wheeling trips, well, I wish I could go much more often than I have. I have three Jeeps and I don't always take the same one. Headed to the Trail Hero with my buggy next week. Haven't wheeled the "green goblin" since March.

      I have a minivan (Grand Caravan) and a Jeep (JK). By far, the minivan excels at everything except, of course, technical terrain. I prefer the minivan for camping due to the spacious interior and comfort while driving. My short wheelbase jeep, combined with the solid front axle, is tiresome on long highway drives.

      Good ear…when I made the video I was on 35” tires and had not re-geared. The Jeep drove fine but would search between 7th and 8th gear. I’ve since re-geared the axles and am now running 4.88 gears. I really love how it drives and wheels now. As for the exhaust, I deleted the muffler. It really isn’t bad but certainly louder than it was with the muffler. In 8th gear you really can’t tell a difference. When accelerating from a stop it is a good bit louder. I removed the muffler because I was landing on it when off road.

      @@caseycrawls4466 I get the impression you aren't very "mechanical" (not a put down)
      When I lifted my Jeep and changed tire sizes, I changed the ring and pinon to adjust the gearing. Then when you said Patagonia tires (cheap Chinese tires) it was over.
      I only use Cooper tires. That's Dick Cepek or Mickey Thompson or other brands on my hot rod Mustang, Jeep or truck.
      I also did brake work. Bigger tires really affect braking. Big heavy tires are big heavy flywheels that require a lot more force to slow down than the lighter stock tires.

My buddy has a Rubicon, 21 model (all stock), and driving his jeep creeps me out.
