@@chinglesscheddar you shouldn’t do that lmfao. could possibly work but you’re also just betting 50/50 that the wild animal is prepared to defend itself
@@chinglesscheddar man, you really think a mountain lion is that east to kill? Do you see how fucking buff it is? It’s a strong animal and can kill a man. Bring a gun, much better option then stupidly trying to fight it with your fists.
They won't chase you if you don't run. Stand your ground look big and make noise. If you run, that will trigger their hunter instincts and they will chase after you
Seeing this short made me revisit a news story from 2018. Two mountain bikers were being followed by a mountain lion, they got off their bikes and waved and yelled until it seemed to give up and leave. At one point on of them tried using their bike to swing at the mountain lion. They thought it was gone and got back on their bikes, and PSYCH!! The lion attacked one of them, biting the guy's head and shaking him. His friend saw this and tired to run away, this caused the lion to drop the first guy and pounce on the guy that started to run. Lion killed the second guy. I think the key is not turning your back, which is the same rule if you work in a psychiatric facility. In India there was a tiger that started hunting humans, after a while they got smart and everyone started wearing masks on the back of their heads to make it look like that was the front of their head, this stopped the attacks. I think big cats just don't want to attack us unless we turn our back.
It is cause subconsciously the big cat thinks the prey either sees them or they think if they move at all the prey will spot them which eventually will lead to them giving up.
No, the key is not running. It’s been proven that running triggers their hunter instincts and they will chase after you, because the prey that they hunt are always runners. It's also shown that most people that get attacked are bikers and runners, so it's not surprising that those guys got attacked Tigers hunt differently than mountain lions, so what works for tigers doesn't mean it will work for all cats
No. No, I would not survive. The moment the mountain lion started after me like that, I would either take off running or charge it and try fighting it.
Where I live, two men (brothers) were recently out looking for deer antlers in the forest. They were at the edge of the forest. A mountain lion came out and approached them. They tried to scare it away but it didn’t work; it went after one of the brothers so the other tried to get the mountain lion off his brother. The mountain lion turned on him and bit his neck. While this was happening the other brother somehow made it to the truck and called 911 despite having fatal injuries from the attack. When he went back to the scene the mountain lion, and his brother, were gone. Police tracked the mountain lion and found it eating the older brother. The younger brother, despite having fatal injuries and being the first one attacked, survived. He was saved by his brother. They were 18 and 21 I think. Absolutely fucking terrifying. I was outside in the forest a mile away from where it happened (I live next to a forest) which terrifies me. There has been more mountain lion sightings a few houses down from mine… I have to take a break from going in the forest.
In fairness, i don't think he was necessarily in huge danger. Lioness was focussed on moving him away from her cubs, not attacking him. She kept her distance and mock charged to intimidate him. Lions arent quite as over zealous as bears when it comes to human proximity to their young If a lion actually wanted you dead, you would never see them coming in the first place.
In general when facing a wild animal running is a terrible idea, because it encourages the animal to chase you, and most animals can run faster than a human. Standing your ground and facing it makes it less likely to attack, since an animal will be hesitant to attack something from the front that will fight back. The exact strategy you should employ will differ from animal to animal, but in general you should slowly back away, not run. You aren’t going to outrun any animal that poses a threat, so running away won’t help you and in fact could be what gets you killed.
You do know you're in the mountain lion's territory, not the reverse? Maybe stick to city walks if you're the type that thinks blowing away animals who are living the way they were designed to makes you tough.
This guy was asking for it. He saw the cub from hundreds of feet away and kept walking towards it. Here’s a tip y’all, you see a baby predator in the wild? Start walking backwards immediately. Start scanning the surroundings for the mother as you back away. Once out of sight, return to wherever the hell you came from. Cougars have claws the size of quarters and a bite that would crush your throat with ease.
She was defending her cubs so her first priority was to drive him away so he was safer then some would think bit one wrong move he still would have been toast. If she wanted him dead he wouldn't of seen it coming.
