One time I got stopped at an international border (I can't remember which country it was), and I had a 4-inch stack of papers with me. It was all advance mathematics (research-level, post-PhD stuff). The customs agent for some reason insisted on looking at both sides of each piece of paper I had. I was standing there and started laughing because I realized that if he also wanted to look at each page of all my non-printed documents on my hard drive then we'd be there for some years. Fortunately, he was satisfied with just an hour or so of looking at the printed documents, but he wanted to know why I was laughing. I certainly didn't tell him.
