-its where all the shelters are and free food centers
-It has the most stores and restaurants
-If applicable, its where the harm reduction centres are
-its where homeless plp stay cause its where everything is (shelter, food, shops etc)

4:22, it is most common for a downtown space to be more crime ridden due to most of the cities low income housing is located near a downtown region , specifically ithaca and sarycuse have nasty downtowns due to the mass amount of low income come housing and the effect and individuals that brings
I was in Memphis a few weeks ago and honestly it was super chill and I didn’t feel more in danger than any other big city I’ve been to. Saying this I wasn’t really in super bad neighborhoods but I was in the central part of the city and yeah it was chill.
4:06 more poor areas are near downtown and the rich are in the north area of the city and statistically poorer areas have more crimes
in memphis around the south eastern part of it, there’s a place called germantown where the neighborhoods actually get pretty nice even tho it’s south and near the downtown area.
Down town there’s usually less of the big skyscrapers and stuff so less security + down town is a more residential part of city’s

I work at a hotel near Milwaukee, so not terrible crime-wise, but not great either. Our hotel and most others in the area only allow full night stays for that very reason. When the barrier to entry is over $100, it stops a lot of the partying and hooking from happening. Not all, though. People are willing to shill out a lot to use a person a receptacle, unfortunately.
