    Just like southernrun: Guilty of everything you pointed out. Just like Madonna, we are all Material Girls Living in a Material World. But chess is a different world...

    Materialism is a battle. But it is more than just the static value of the piece. "Great! I can take your 5-point rook with my 3-point knight." Sounds like a good trade except the rook is in the corner and the knight is in the king's face. The key take away for me in this excellent video is that the value of the piece depends on the dynamic position. In some positions, a pawn is worth more than a queen.

      I loved your thoughts on this. Indeed, the value of the pieces are in constant flux. Context is everything in chess, as in life.

    Who can resist juicy pawns should be rewarded :)

    I really only saw Ne2+ forcing the queen to sacrifice itself because I thought that based on the way you were asking, there was no way the solution was as easy as playing the fork and grabbing the rook. I would have 100% grabbed the rook in a real game

      Thanks for the feedback! This exercise improves the board vision and generating more choices on the very first move. Also always eyeing the opponent's king.

    In the first position, if the bishop moves, the follow-up is Rg2 followed by Qxh2, right?
    I was also thinking Bg2+ Kg1 and Bxf3+ discovered check winning the queen

    • @Dr.CansClinic
      @Dr.CansClinic  Місяць тому

      Both options are strong. ..Bg2+ is more forcing.

    Materialism sin explained in different angles with different purposes, that's the way how Can changes our vision of chess in less than 12min. Chesspresso? what else?

    What about pawn to F4?

      At which position?

      @@Dr.CansClinicfirst example, what if I protect bishop with pawn f4. I got the gist of the concept described, I just cannot imagine why that is game losing and why rook g1 is only move.

      Easier queen plus bishop mate, ignore me.
