@@Mr_and_Mrs_Seilerthere are sororities and fraternities for other ethnicities as well, such as Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Jewish, etc. if that’s what you want to join. If you remember anything about US history, especially here in the south, we had segregation. Therefore, historically black sororities and fraternities were created to create safe spaces and networking opportunities for people of color during that time. However, anyone can join any sororities/fraternities. It may be historically black, but it is not only black. I knew white, Hispanic and Asian students who joined historically black organizations when I was in college and they were more than welcomed. 😊
Seeing sorority houses at bigger universities is always so cool to me. I was a gamma phi in college, but a smaller D1 school and not a lot of people lived in sorority houses, they were just there for meetings and for us to hang out in. Thanks for sharing this!
As an ADPi, I can confirm that the diamond is our symbol, and the lion is our mascot, and his name is Alphie, fun fact! Love your videos, Lauren, and thank you for inspiring me to go through recruitment!❤
So precious how you show your friends who are recording you…giving them their own little moment of spotlight. Truly shows your character of what a good heart and soul you have 😭😭😭
I’m British and the whole concept of sororities is so strange but fascinating to me! These houses are absolutely huge and so stunning, we have nothing like this in the UK and don’t have the space for it either😂 I can’t imagine how expensive it is to be a part of one of these sororities lol
All of the sorority houses at Alabama are absolutely beautiful and are all unique in their own way! I love all of the sorority houses at Alabama! Phi Mu is one of my favorites! ADPi's symbol is the diamond and their mascot is the Lion Alphie! I am also a pink and green stan!
I was a student at Bama back in the 90s, and I visited campus recently for the first time in over 25 years. I couldn't believe how much money has been put into the campus! It was almost unrecognizable. I was part of the Mallet Assembly, and in the mid-90s our dorm (Byrd Hall, built in the late 1940s) sat on the spot where the new Alpha Gamma Delta house sits. The sorority houses were large and looked nice for the time, but absolutely nothing like the palatial mansions that sit there today.
Thank you for giving DDD some love, Lauren! I am so sorry you weren't invited back during Rush... my little PNW chapter would have loved your sense of humor and kind, compassionate heart. :)
That was a lovely tour. I am Sigma Kappa from a different university and very different time era (hint, I pledged 50 years ago this fall!) I can't wait to see what the new SK chapter looks like on the UA campus. All the houses are soooo much bigger than the chapter houses at my alma mater. Fun Fact: pledges move directly into the houses after bid day at my campus. Still... to this day! I had 4 years of living in the prettiest house on our campus ( which greatly influenced my rankings all during rush, LOL). It was a wonderful time, and still close to a lot of my sisters.😻
I don't know why I'm so obsessed with sorority videos since I'm not living in the US nor am I going to attend college/uni there 😅 I just find it fascinating and so unlike anything we have here in Europe! I was wondering something and I hope you or someone else in the comments might help me clear things up. I don't know if it's common to go to college at an older age in the US, but where I live, people can be anywhere from 18-19 and fresh out of high school, up to 40-45 years old and wanting to take their career in another direction. Say someone older (in their 30s or so) would start their higher education. Maybe they didn't have the finances earlier, maybe they wanted kids first and education when the kids are a little older, maybe it took time for them to find out what they wanted to do in life, whatever the reason. I'm talking not just a few years older, but at least mid 20s and up. Would they also rush for a sorority? I understand it's not for everyone, but what I'm wondering is if it's beneficial for older students as well or if it's "only" for young adults starting their adult life? It would seem to me a lot of the philantropy work could be just as important to an older student, and since probaby most people around them are not in college, they could probably feel a need to get to know other students as well. Maybe there's something like a sorority for older students? I'm imagining some of the things are not so appealing to someone older, for example I doubt many 25+ would want to live in the sorority house and even share a room. I'm sorry if this is a weird question, just something I was thinking about while watching your videos!
I wish so bad that I had went to college and joined a sorority. I’m 26 now and engaged so there’s no way but I’ve kind of lived the experience through you, Lauren. Thank you for sharing your experience. 💜
Our sorority houses were horrible at my university. You are all so lucky to be able to have such magnificent accommodations. Thanks for the look around the row!! 👛🌷💓🩷💗💄🌺💞🎀🌺💕💖🌸💝🩰
I went thrifting this one time, and came across this vintage Kappa Delta crew sweater, that was so absolutely adorable. I just had to have it. It is Green and white of course, with KD embroidered on it. It looks like a vintage ralph lauren sweater; like something one would wear to a polo match. I looked up the sorority by chance and saw that it was founded on my birthday. So i call my 80s KD shirt, my serendipity sweater. I was not in a sorority during my college years, but many good friends of mine were, and they all really enjoyed being involved within greek life and the culture.
My university didn't allow houses, so we had rooms in the student activity center. Seeing these traditional sorority houses, plus seeing your videos from when you lived in the Pi Phi house made me a little more than a little jealous!! Thanks for showing my house! (DZ 🐢) 😊
Tri delt’s old round house was the most unique! I love how all of the new designs give a nod to the original houses. I was a Bama Theta 😊 Our old house had a sun deck on top and a courtyard in the back. Haven’t been to the new one, but it’s got our symbol (kite) inlaid (in marble, I think) in the foyer flooring.
🐱🐈 My Top 3 Sorority House: 1. Kappa Delta 2. Kappa Alpha Theta 3. Phi Mu It is for sure a dream living in these beautiful mansions. I screenshotted all these gorgeous houses and then scrolled through it once again before I picked my top 3. 🤪 ALL THESE HOUSES ARE STUNNING THOUGH! 💯
I was a Pi Phi in college and I pref. 1. Pi Phi 2.ADpi because like Lauren says feeling at home is most important. I rmbr at the start Alpha Phi was on my top and it all turned around with the last two girls I talked to. I rmbr not being that excited for KKG and they also made me feel at home. So def. Go with what makes you feel at home & special!! ❤

I think this video is going to blow up, so many girls are going to watch it and rewatch it in excitement to rushing and getting a feel for the lay out. ❤🐱🦁🐯🦄

I was an AOII at a different university! So nice seeing our house at a different university! We had one but it was waaaay smaller but very cozy (I loved my experience of living there so much). I was wondering if AOII is going to be in your video at all and it was the last one! I was very excited but you kept me on my toes waiting till the very end lol
My dad and his 4 brothers were all in a fraternity together. I was never in a sorority, but, I was in the student ward of the Mormon (mainstream LDS church). I had so much pressure to get married though.
I wish we had sorority houses at Clemson, but we only have halls! I think like 8-36 girls stay on the hall, depending on the chapter, so we don’t have anywhere that we can all gather as a chapter, and I wish we did! I definitely think the KD and Phi Mu houses are my fav, but love Pi Phi and Zeta too!!🩵🩵
