FYI I filmed Ep 2 Breakdown before coming to work to protect a religious group and just watched a Ramsey vid...he says he had the bad lab c1984 Flu just before going to Australia and lost a ton of muscle weight and been fatigued...so I'm sorry I was a bit too hard first couple episodes but I take Self-Defense very seriously and my jobs are to protect people and he blows Self-Defense off (and boy does that show).
Respectable, People usualy say you're too harsh on these guys, but you're actually pretty fair, kudos to the organisers of the event, it is awesome to see for sure, it's just shame people like you aren't in it, but I guess not many people have the complete expertise like you do and do youtube, so I can imagine all the frustration you have with watching these guys.
Bad guys don’t wait until we feel better to attack. More often than not it goes down when we are at our worst physically, mentally or both. It is when our guard is lowest
Ramsey always sounded like he knew what he was talking about but all he ever does is poke holes in other systems and sounds smart as a result. But as we see here, he is not a fighter and has limited understanding of proper street defense. Great breakdown, I think your assessment was very fair.
@@DanTheWolfman you'd piss the Rokas bunch off so much if you clipped the footage of Ramsey getting choked together with the footage with the master wong solution of keeping your chin tucked that Ramsey was mocking in the video.

Disappointed in Ramsay's skills for how much experience he has. Conversely quite impressed with Rokas for how he's come along in the last 5 years. I think you'd be almost an ideal competitor in this Dan. I know you've got some legitimate critiques about these guys but I'd love to see you make nice with them and do some more collabs. Compared to a lot of the characters you find in the martial arts world these are far from the worst people about.
This show pretty much called to light EXACTLY what Dan was saying: These guys are NOT expert enough to be critical of so many other Martial Arts!!!. Also it shows the limitations of the " MMA as God" belief. Would rather see this done again , using Dan, Sifu Singh( JKD), Wonderboy( Karate, mma), Master Wong and Izzo( Wing Chun), Roy Jones( Boxing) and maybe Cung Li. This would be Great with these VERY SKILLED GUYS!! I would just Love to see their likely Diverse, but expert, response. Self-defense and MMA matches are two different types of fighting. There are no rules in self-defense and your life is at risk. Anything goes so long as you hurt your attacker and get out quick. If that was a real knife, they've lying in a pool of their own blood.
Yeah kind of wished they did the knife defense twice one were you could comply and one were complying is not a option. I also see what some people are talking about having a sports mind set instead of having a more self defense mind set. I also do not think you were hard on them at all. Because those simple mistakes can cost you or someone else life. Good review.
Solid video Dan and gets better by the minute. Chan I thought did good as he maintained poised to survive, but when the weapon combat came to play, he folded and didn't do well controlling the knife which would have been a total disaster for him plus in street combats, speed kills. It's good for competition, but gotta have good self-protection awareness and skills. Icy Mike is more like Melted Mike. All his so called "I trained with this guy in some exotic location" so on and so forth and like Jesse, loves to bash on other arts knowing damn well he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about is now haunting him here on this show competition. Karma struck one on Melted Mike as he chokes under pressure in self-protection once again.
Icy Mike always criticized a lot of traditional arts. What happened to him here proves he knows nothing about self-defense. You're right about the karma thing. I find it a former cop can't defend himself from a stick or a knife.
Hi Dan, what do you think of the classic Gracie style body lock take down? I know it's like a forgotten technique in today's modern BJJ world of imanari rolls and leg lock take downs, but I am looking to add it back into my BJJ training and make it great again!
