If there's one thing I've learned from these interviews and books - its that the FLDS is full of some really wonderful people who deserve the best life has to offer. I hope they take a chance on us in the "outside" world. Please be kind to them every chance you get.

If he has 78 wives but children with only 17 of them, that means 61 women who are kept from having children, unless they leave. Knowing that childbearing is essential to salvation for women in FLDS, this must be a real struggle for so many of those women!

Thank you Ammon for sharing your story with us. When I got towards the end and realized you had only gotten out of the church a few years ago I was shocked. I thought you had been out much longer. I am so impressed with how you are handling everything being so new to the "worldly" world. Your calm and steadfast demeanor hardly betrays the depth of the emotional pain and turmoil it surely must bring to discuss such horrible events in your life, but please know your words and actions now are doing so much good for the world, both for those who have never been involved in religion (like myself) and for those who are still trapped in Warren Jeffs' twisted reality.
Thank you for being a ray of light emerging from such darkness, and I wish you all the happiness in the world as you embark on your new journey of freedom. You are a good man and an inspiration 💜

Something that just occurred to me listening to Ammon talk about the different rules that Warren implemented when he was in prison is that when a person feels out of control they will pick at any little small thing to gain a tiny morsel of control and I think that's what was happening with Warren in prison. He started implementing all these arbitrary little rules because he desperately craved being in control of anything that he could. It makes me wonder if he is OCD. I have lived with a person that has control issues/OCD and they obsess over the smallest "rules" because when they feel in control it gives them relief.

@@equatorialjourney4478 i have yet to meet any human being on this planet who is not carrying trauma. It falls to each one of us, to courageously and relentlessly work at processing that trauma. I would argue that cultivating a hunger to do this, is as close as any of us can get to freedom (because it’s a lifelong challenge IMO). So, I would say we are ALL damaged - the question is, how courageous are you willing to aim to be, and by that measurement, this young man is KILLIN IT!!! And so can you. One step at a time.

    • @equatorialjourney4478
      @equatorialjourney4478 7 місяців тому

@@sarahissersohn5495 OF COURSE we all carry trauma. But surely the purpose of exposing these dangerous cults on platforms such as this is to ensure we call a spade a spade and not pussy foot around the blindingly obvious facts staring us in the face . Whilst I wish all cult escapees well I refuse to ostrich and ignore the elephant in the room with ppl as deeply programmed and damaged as these . Experience has shown they r not healed and r likely to adopt other forms of extremist behaviour patterns which thwart genuine healing . Then it morphs into further generational damage which affects other vulnerable gullible souls.
Recent topical cases : Ruby Franke; Jodie Hildebrandt & Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow . All products of same religion , whose skewed hyper perceptions led them into equally dogmatic dangerous trajectories of their own . On the outside they appeared ‘ normal, functioning ‘ citizens , but the damage was as deep and as extensive as these FLDS members . Like Fells , they won’t learn; they believe it’s Gods mission for them all to now be in jail so they can continue his work on others . Glorifying some of these cultee testimonials is all well and good , but let’s be honest & look at the realities . I see very deeply damaged levels of brainwashing at play and worry that deliberately bringing new babies into the maelstrom of unhealed trauma doesn’t bode well for healthy healing . For starters , it highlights that they don’t recognise their trauma , otherwise they would not bring in new life . False prophets have been around since Moses day and I see textbook fertile /fallow ground for more of the same in exposes like this show when we refuse to call it out when we see it in such podcasts
And let’s not even start on the legion of Scientol stories and now the JP Miller pastor . No remorse or awareness from any of these ppl for damage they wreak on lives .

What I’ve learned from leaving an intense cult of 17 years...
1.God pulls His remnant out of every religion, every church, every lifestyle, every nation, every race, every prison, everywhere.
    2. Many religions, churches, ideologies, philosophies believe THEY are the only way. Satanists, woke, Catholic, FLDS, many. And, if you aren’t on board you’re doomed.
There is ONE way and it’s neither of these. It’s not man’s way in any way.
    3. Whom the Son has set free is free indeed. That means, no man decides who is free. Who is saved. Only our maker. And, He doesn’t base His Love on what man feels or believes about us.
    4. God loves us far more than any of these man made rules. Hold on. Don’t let men’s narcissistic control dictate what you believe about yourself.
    5. Satan is the father of lies. Everything he does is to deceive, kill and destroy us. He uses people to accomplish this. Deception of ones self magnanimousness.

I used to work in emergency mental health and thus spent a lot of time working adjacent to law enforcement and social workers in charge of removing children from the homes where suspected or confirmed abuse or neglect is occurring. Unfortunately, its almost always hard on the children, even if they really have been in extreme danger, to remove them from the only caretakers that most of them have ever known. They don't understand and they're afraid, partially because its unknown and that on its own is scary, but also because abusers have a really solid history of framing helpers as being the enemy in the eyes of their victims. Its not a perfect system and obviously errors are made but the alternative is pretty bad. I'm also a former abused child who didn't get help and I can see it from both sides for that reason. Its a sort of damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.
Edited to add: I'm not defending how this was handled by the authorities in Texas. Not at all. I'm just adding some insight to this practice in general. What the families of the FLDS experienced is an extreme version of something that happens every day.

Congratulations on your freedom and the pregnancy, Ammon! I’m so happy for you and your wife! 🥳🥰 And I’m especially happy that your child won’t be forced to be raised in the same way you were. 🙌 You both can now enjoy childhood through the eyes and experiences of your own child ☺️

It's remarkable how grounded and harmonious this young man seems, considering the kind of (koo koo) upbringing he has had, and the things he has gone through. Being sent here, being sent there, his mother being treated like shit when she had cancer, the insane harsh criticism for not finishing building projects on time (!), the emotional roller coaster of being sent away, having to come back home, only to be sent away again, I mean good grief.
