    Hi everyone! You might have noticed this video went up hours before the usual Saturday upload... that was a mistake in my video scheduling! I'll have to watch that closer next time :) The info box is now all filled in if you had any questions regarding products/links/drugstore alternative links. Thanks!

    I think Hourglass powder complexion products make a huge difference on mature skin. They don’t look heavy and powdery but light and can be built up but kind of dummy proof. As my skin gets drier with age, I appreciate them and feel they’re worth the price.

    Just a tip for those who have a hard time with eyeshadow application like I do, I’ve found that the ambient lighting powders worked over some harsh lines blends it beautifully! Give it a try, because they have this blurring effect to the skin, it’s great for cleaning up any eyeshadow mistakes! 💕

    For me the Hourglass powders there’s something very special about not just the shade but the way they interact with my skin. The shades are subtle, but the pigment in the blushes lasts. I can find great blush shades in lots of price points, but many many blushes are just gone within 2 hours. Somehow, these blushes just last. I don’t like to pay the luxury makeup prices of these products, but I got one of those 6-pan face palettes and it’s worth it for me.

    *Emilyyy! 😱 **8:05** you're not getting the full potential of your diffused light powder, that's why you're not jumping up and down about them **8:28** 😂😂😂 They're designed to mimic different types of light (candlelight, moonlight, diffused light, etc.) to blur the imperfections without looking powdery or obvious without adding texture, even on mature skin. If people did this instead of baking they would avoid looking dry, crusty and creasy on the undereye area. **8:44** there are some special and multiple uses for those powders. I'm linking another youtuber's video since that's better than me trying to write out the whole thing* ua-cam.com/video/8j-GxFzJh_A/v-deo.html
    *Stephanie Nicole also has very in-depth reviews on these powders, what each one does and how to choose the best for you. Hope this helps to anyone reading this*

      On top they are CF, vegan, dont release something in a fast fashion style and there ingredients are pretty clean for a conventional Brand!

    No reflection on your video - which I loved - but I can’t believe they called that foundation shade “nude” - shouldn’t all foundations look nude on the individual? I commented on their Instagram about this. I’ve always wanted to try hourglass and respect the quality of their products but we need to challenge these brands where they are wrong.

    • @isthatjackson
      @isthatjackson 4 роки тому +4

      I agree with you. “Nude” being used to equate to a white person is icky. Good for you for speaking up on something you noticed. I think I prefer number naming systems for foundations instead of names.

    I use the diffused light to set my undereyes it’s wonderful for that purpose because it’s so finely milled it nicely brightens the area without looking cakey and without creasing .. I have also used it as a allover buffing/finishing powder after setting my face it adds a little bit of luminosity to the skin while still being a matte powder it’s really a nice product ..if you are looking for a dupe the Milani prep set and glow is similiar as well as the wet n wild cabana boy shade of their bronzer which we all know isn’t a bronzer it has micro particles that brighten the skin it’s one of thiose products you would nevrr think of using as a face powder ..

    I’d like to suggest that maybe a more mature skin would be better off with the more high end product. When I was younger I had flawless skin. I’ve never had acne to speak of and with my oily skin I, for most of my adult life looked younger than my years. When I turned 50 a few years ago I started seeing that although the drugstore products looked ok but the high end looked much better. I feel the differences would be more subtle on someone younger but more mature skin might benefit from the higher end ingredients. Just a thought :)

    Maybe talk more about the shade range options for other complexions than yourself. For example, the bronzer was nice, but what is their shade range? How about the foundation as well as the concealer? Just something I was thinking throughout the video.

    (I was told;) The Hourglass finishing powders are just that, finishing powder. Once you finish all your face makeup, gently sweep the powder over the face and it gives you a diffused glowing look. They won’t work as setting powder or for just a highlight. 🤷🏼‍♀️ That’s what a makeup artist told me. 😉

    Tip for those with oily eyelids like me - instead of using one layer of eyeshadow primer, use two very thin layers and let them dry 30 seconds to a minute in between application.
    I use the milani as it's the best for the price. Two very thin layers and my shadow will not budge

    Hourglass is an investment but SO WORTH IT. Takes years to go through their powders. Essence glow for it is a dupe for the ambient powders. Alsojoahmakes a white veil primer dupe for the hourglass. I find the loreal shake and glow is a dupe for the setting spray. The revlon 1.5mm black liner is also a dupe for their eyeliner. And finally the nyx on the rise is a dupe for the caution mascara. I also find for the gloss the loreal color riche lip glossy lipsticks especially in glossy fawn is a dupe for the hourglass lipgloss. Oh my how cute is he!

Their products are IDEAL for dry and mature skin as well, those people who would normally never use a finishing powder or a setting powder. Hourglass setting powder kicks Laura Mercier to the curb because Hourglass doesn’t contain talc which draws moisture out of your skin. It’s a terrific powder for dry & mature skin. Overall, they have some of my most favorite and treasured products that cannot be duped at the drugstore.

    Emily thank you for doing this. I usually don't put my 2 cents in but this time I will. I love the way you look your face is FLAWLESS like a model!!!! Love their powders and I love their primer it has noticeably when I apply it with my finger hide my one line under my eye like magic (I am 55 years old). The blushes are nice but I can get a great blush look from Beauty Bakerie for a lot less. The primer truly made a difference for me. The setting spray is very nice but I feel like I can get that with UD All nighter too. Never tried the eye shadows. HINT: Try using the Hourglass primer on top of your Hard Candy smoothing primer OMG it's soooooo good. I use it over Tacha, over Tarte smoothless primer, over ELF putty primer it's a great addition to what you already use there is something in there that keeps you from getting oily and makeup stays on until you go to bed! Hour Glass Diffused Light Ambient Lighting Powder: I’m 38 and cannot wear sparkly highlighter anymore (thanks teenage me who didn’t wear sunscreen). I SWEAR by this product. I used it as a last step over the areas where UA-camrs “highlight” with concealer. I have naturally blue undertones under my eyes. This product brightens the crap out of that area and everywhere else I put it. People comment on my makeup & skin but I really think they’re just complimenting this product on my skin. I bought a full size 3 years ago and am just now running out so the value is there when you’re looking at the price. And just a dab will do ya!
    And I know it’s hard to see in the videos, but in real life it’s gorgeous!

    I just hate that these high end brands get bought by multibillion dollar conglomerates then they still keep the high price tag when they are probably making a beyond HUGE profit! (Hello tatcha... Thought she'd never sell out but did...luckily most of her stuff is still made in Japan)...

    You keep bringing up L’Oréal compared to hourglass, please remember hourglass is cruelty free and they sometimes donate money to the prevention of animal cruelty. L’Oréal is not that is one of the big reasons that I know I buy hourglass and stopped buying L’Oréal

    Happy Saturday Emily. So good to see cutie pie Rhett. The ambient powders are my best friend, especially when going out in the evening. I've wondered why they don't make eyeshadow palettes. Love the HG Unreal Volumizing lip glosses, they feel good, and the colors lasts for awhile. Blessings, prayers, and love..MaryEllen

    I absolutely adore the Ambient powder in Diffused Light for setting my eye primer, cheek products, and especially my concealer. I haven’t found anything that quite dupes the color, texture, and end effect. I buy the mini, and it lasts almost 1.5 years.

    I have oily skin in the summer and combo skin spring/fall/winter and I swear by the hourglass mineral veil primer I have been using it for about 5 years its expensive but you use so little of it that I buy the value size and it lasts me about 2 years. I am also in my early 50's and I find that hourglass face products powder, blush bronzer powders are so fine and don't attract attention to my textured skin or fine lines. I used to use Laura Mericer loose powder but now I use the Hourglass veil finishing powder as well as the pressed powder.

  • @tawnyk3381
    @tawnyk3381 4 роки тому +1

    The ambient powders are best used as a finishing powder. After you apply all of your makeup, buff some of that powder all over your skin and it helps to meld your highlight, blush and bronzer together and gives your skin an airbrush, creamy finish.

    Oh yay! Thank you for listening to us and uploading this video! That lipgloss is SOOO pretty! I have that on my shopping list now. While I don't wear full-coverage foundation very often, I think I need to give this another look. I had heard that it can oxidize quickly... do you find that this is the case? I also want to try that bronzer - ooooh it's so pretty! :-)

      I personally have not dealt with this foundation oxidizing on me- I wonder if maybe certain parts of the shade range are more prone to it? I remember this coming up with my first go-round reviewing this foundation & it was never an issue for me!

      @@emilynoel83 Thank you for responding! I greatly appreciate it! When Sephora reopens, I'll have to go in and ask for a sample. Even with the sun, I'm one of the lightest possible shades that many brands just don't offer. haha!

    The more I see that shade of blush you have from hourglass, the more it reminds me of the pink glowy blush from Found Cosmetics! I have always heard that the face products from hourglass are the smoothest and easiest to blend. Jamie Paige also loves that scattered light shadow; it seems popular with lots of folks, so I'm intrigued by the formula.

    @emilynoel I was literally just looking through hourglass highlighters confused what shade to pick for my porcelain skin and wondering if I should take the plunge, so thankyou thankyou thankyou for inexpensive dupes! For instance, I'm looking into the vanish flash highlighting sticks and so confused if I should go with pink flash to start? ( they're so expensive) or champagne flash, bronze flash, gold flash, etc..I really need help with decision because it's too expensive to get arong highlighter!! Have you tried those yet, Em?? I really want natural highlighter that's not like a streak which is why I looked into them and they're not glittery, more a lit from within look, any suggestions color wise? You look beautiful as usual but this brand really makes everything fresh and flawless! Rhett is getting so big! Just got a flash back memory of you letting Bub know you were pregnant on camera! He's beautiful and completed your beautiful family! 👣❤Lol LYS freaking Much!! xo 💋🙏👏🏻🙌🔥😘

      I hate, hate returning things! It’s a bummer in terms of the environmental waste. That’s why I research extensively before purchasing and sit a wait on things before actually purchasing just to make sure I want and will use something. It doesn’t always work out, but nonetheless I make it work or at least give it to someone I know.

    Firstly, love the Rhett cameo! 🥰 Secondly, to me what sets Hourglass apart is the high quality ingredients. I have super sensitive acneic skin and there are ingredients that aggravate it, such as talc, mineral oil, coconut oil, etc. The Hourglass powders don't contain talc! 🙌 The Ambient Lighting Powders are amazing for brightening and blending. I use Ethereal under my eyes, and Luminous is fantastic all over the face to blend and diffuse all my other products together. While there are other less expensive options to achieve a similar look, there aren't any that achieve the same look with the same ingredients.
