When I was in Merida last year with my family, my daughter needed a doctor. So we called the air bnb hosts and we got in touch with a doctor. He came to the house and treated her, cost me 800 pesos or 40 bucks USD. I love it there!

My vet is coming Monday ..it's $5 USD for the housecall. You actually paid double for a housecall. They're usually around $20. I just go to the clinic at the pharmacy and pay $2.50 USD
The last time I saw a doctor show up at a house was when one of my older brothers had appendicitis. The doctor came by the house, checked my brother and then had my dad take my brother to the hospital. This was back around 1970.

Wating for pension is good , but in same time lots of things can happen in the next 2 to 3 yrs of you wating to retire. The borders slowly try to close. I am from Romania . They try to apply same rules as in east in Europe , communism to not leave the country. They have to achive agenda 2025 to 2030 where food will be huge problem to buy bc they make it impossible to purchace. So the time as Jose is NOW not in 2 to 3 yrs

I just turned down a lucrative job that would have been 70 hours per week and very stressful. I feel scared and unsteady at the moment, but I think I just chose my mental and physical health over money...the US way of life is slowly but surely becoming too much for me.

Ten days from now I'm going back to the United States for a month for doctor's visits and other things. Just the thought of going back makes me stressful. When I am there everybody seems to be in such a hurry, drives so fast, and basically has a much more hectic society. I find it much harder to relax and be calm there, than here in Merida. I'm sure with the hurricane, prices will be up, supplies will be down, and everyone will be catching up for the time lost because of the hurricane. I'm already looking forward to coming back to Merida.

It really depends where in the United States you are traveling to. Some areas; such as certain large cities- yes, very stressful. Other areas; not very stressful.

People joke about food poisoning every time I go down. I usually land sick from travel food, and am feeling great in a day. It’s so cheap and easy to eat fresh stuff. I’m in a food dessert surrounded by dollar stores. I got a garden and chickens but fruit is scarce
You are 100% on point! I used to get sick in the USA all the time from what I ate. When I get sick out here over what I ate i know its mostly because I just had 1 too many tacos and or tequila lol

In the US I can no longer to afford to have dinner at a restaurant. With rising prices, even lunch has become problematic. I just received my Residente Permanente.

There is a big difference with the food, you can get authentic Mexican food here but the same food in Mexico tastes much better because the plants and animals have not been genetically modified and shot up with antibiotics and hormones, the attitude with people there is like the U.S. used to be decades ago, so I can see where that alone would extend your life.

Food has more chemical additives in the USA. Lots of corn syrup and fructose also. Further, US zoning laws mess people up. Residential zoning in the USA can't have any businesses. So we're all stuck in out homes unless we get in the car. Which means a hassle, so people just turn into vegetables on the couch rather than walk around the community as there is no community to walk around. Anywhere else in the world; you can go outside and enjoy community within walking walking distance - which keeps you active and socially engaged.
Very well said about the Zoning laws you are 100% correct. Thats why you cant walk to your neighborhood store anymore in the USA, its not permitted by law
Exactly. I can walk one block in either direction and eat tacos y mas!! Fruit stand is only 2 blocks in a residential area! America leaves a lot to be desired.
Talking about the people just being happier reminded me of when I was in Cozumel. We had rented bikes and just rode around in San Miguel way back from the tourist area, eating at restaurants set up in front yards with cats wandering around.
The people made the biggest impression though, living in huts with corrugated tin roofs and thatch, but huge smiles and waves and always a "BUENOS!" exchanged as we passed.
They might not have much money but they have more Freedom than us and isn't that what most of us are looking for anyways? That is why they are mostly always happy and people in the first world are mostly miserable. They have it all except for actual Freedom. Thanks for sharing!
The first time I went to Mexico 35 years ago, we didn’t pack clothes. We packed all kinds of new underwear, clothes we no longer wore, medical supplies and towels. We went to visit family on their remote ranch. The level of poverty was incompressible to me. Food and water was abundant, clothes not so much. Running water meant run to the stream and carry it up hill. Toilets were the pasture. My first thought was, what the hell are these people so happy about. They lived a hard but joyous life. I walked with a cousin to the farm field and we went the long way, she was so happy to find a blackberry bush. We picked them and they were a celebrated part of dinner that night. I didn’t understand their happiness until later in life.

I was 60 in Mexico 2 weeks ago I was drinking coconut water from a fresh coconut on the Beach in Mexico 2 weeks ago. I wasn’t happy to walk back into my house in America last week . I’m in the north east Boston is cold for the next 5 months im sitting in front of the fire now I have a one-way ticket to Mexico in January. I will spend the winter. I have two grown daughters out of state and I lost my wife last year. I love Mexico. I will find an apartment this winter join the gym and buy a motorcycle in Mexico, I love your channel. I don’t want to argue in America anymore. I want peace I will keep my house for now, but if I don’t love returning to it, I will sell it and stay in Mexico. If I make my way down in Merida, I’ll stop and say hello brother. Thanks for everything you do. Are you near Acapulco? I’m going to be the godfather to a beautiful girl named Evelyn my friends, three year old daughter in Acapulco 3rd week January He will kill a pig and we will celebrate. I want to speak to one thing you said Jose. As far as there being safe neighborhoods in the US. I researched for a good 6 month low cost and safe areas to retire in the US.
As far as I can find, in the US a low cost of living area is crime ridden.
Lots of people selling meth or oxy, and lots of people on public assistance and living hand to mouth.
So more theft. More crime.
Also, these small towns have no access to stores. So, as an older person, I don’t want to drive 30 minutes to a Walmart.
I seriously looked very hard for a place to retire within my country.
If it exists. I can’t find it.

I told my friends here 20 years ago that ONE DAY I am going to be sitting on our quiet beach drinking a beer, and I will see a very bright flash to the north, the day the US ceases to exist.
I live in a country that NO ONE HATES, and that makes a big difference.
Would love to and plan to visit some western European countries again soon - Portugal, Malta, Italy and Greece.
Most people would be shocked that much of the south of Brasil looks like Europe - tons of Italian and German imigrants here from back during WW1, in some towns Italian and German is the main language on the street !

So about those delivered, where are you finding that? I must not be looking correctly:)
For pharmacy I can understand but for everything else including food is it a what’s app order or by phone call. We mainly use rappi and such but shy away as the pricing started getting a bit much.
Yes all you need to do is call the business or ask them in person if you are there if they offer delivery? If so what zones and if there is a cost. Most places offer delivery. Sure you can use the Apps but it will cost you a lot more and they make a lot less. Many times we just call direct and not only get better prices but also better service! Viva Mexico!

Everything you say about living in the United States of America is absolutely True, our beloved brother. Mexico's increase in income to move to Mexico as a Retiree with a wife and 11 year old daughter, makes it more difficult to move there now. My entire pension is about two thousand five hundred dollars a month. Sorry I did not move to beautiful Mexico before. I regret it regret it very much.
If you are over 65 you can qualify for residency by proving that you are retired with a letter from the Gov that says you get a monthly pension or Social Security. You do not have to meet the Steep Financial requirements, you just need to prove you can afford to take care of yourself and not be a Financial burden on Mexico. Also each consulate can decide what the amount is that they deem "Enough" each consulate is different . Hope that clarifies it more for you. Natural remedies are not illegal in the US but they are expensive and doctors will never recommend them so it's up to to figure out what you need for your condition looking up online or whatever.
That being said I have seen some pretty good priced herbs online from different sites, usually being atleast 25% less than the whole foods price, I'm sure for these same herbs you'd find them for a 1/5th of the price if not lower in Mexico though, the only thing is they may not already be ground up and put in a capsule for you.

In Mexico you can Whattsapp the pharmacy and have your medicine and other stuff you need that the pharmacy sells delivered to you for free. Just tip the kid that brings it to you. I can go on and on! 😂

Prices have gone up quite a bit at restaurants. Some restaurants have increased the pay for their employees. So, prices have gone up. Another reason is the price of supplies. Everything has gone up. But supply price increases is due to inflation of profits for many businesses. Over half of the inflation that has happened in the US is due to increased profits by businesses. I guess they want their piece of the pie since everyone (employees) else is getting an increase. But businesses can add in a bit for an increased profit margin which is what has been happening.

Stress, Chemicals in food, Materialism, appearances, people in Phoenix and other places getting a runny nose everyday, Police pulling you over and arresting you for no reason are reasons that the USA is not a great place to live in my opinion.

Retiring and moving to Mexico in March at 60 and 55.
Currently I am basically chained to my computer 8-10 hours a day. All kinds of physical issues that go along with that. Moving to a city that is walkable and will not have a car. We are Vegan so expect great produce. We absolutely expect our health to be better in the mountains of Mexico. And if we retired here we’d have to work probably 7 more years…..7 years !…because it is so expensive. 7 years is a prison sentence !!!

We LOVE our country. We have zero fear of police here. We need a less expensive, less stressful place…and we need an adventure during our retirement. No rocking chair on a front porch for us.

Here in Mexico it is not as easy to buy weapons, as in the USA, here you cannot buy them as if you were going to buy a soda at the store, gun control is stronger, and if you want to buy a weapon, you have to do it before an authority from the government, and you are only allowed one type of weapon and under many conditions, but people in general here don't buy weapons for their homes.

I'm like you, I Love Mexico, I Love all the stuff to speak of and the people. Gosh, I Love everything. I feel at home in Mexico even though I don't speak mucho Spanish but I just Love it. The musica, weather, people, food, dance, women or senoritas who is so sexy even though they may have lots of kids gosh, they walk around in high heals wow, so sexy ok I quess I have said enough but I just Love it. I do have a translator app on my phone. I love the exploring part of all this. I want to go to Oaxaca due to the weather there. Merida is too humid which is why i want to leave ND. I also thought i had to go to the consulate near me. I'm going to try to get a temporary visa. That would solve a lot of problems. And the taxi info was well needed too. I watched two of your videos this evening and enjoyed them both. Each year I spend approximately 4 months in Merida and have been doing so for the last 15 years. It is absolutely my favorite place to go outside of the USA. I did want to mention that, generally speaking and taking into account gender, life expectancy in the US is equal to or greater than in Mexico so I wouldn't be too concerned about that. One area of the video that I found disturbing were your negative and insulting comments about the police in the US. Where is this coming from and please tell me that your were exaggerating. Your chance in the US of having to worry about a confrontation with the police leading to a fatal shooting is nearly zero while last year 73 police officers were murdered in the US in the line of duty. You might have an unpleasant interaction with the police if they stop you for a traffic violation but to suggest that the police in the US are a potential threat to its citizens is blatantly false. Please do your research before making such generalizations about our law enforcement officers.

I have plenty of first hand experience with the boys in blue back home and how much they love to protect everyone. We can simply agree to disagree. You obviously love the work the police in the USA does and that is why you like to spend most of the years back home. Not everyone feels the same and one can not assume all officers are great, or all of them are horrible. There is a lot of in between. In my opinion I think it is a lot safer and more peaceful in Mexico and why I choose to live here. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and glad you enjoyed the videos so much.

For what it's worth, and with all due respect, I would suggest that in your videos you might consider dropping the subject altogether. I've watched three of your videos thus far and in each one of them you never fail to mention this subject. You make good videos. Why continue making this a topic for discussion? @@paulshelton9029 The reason i constantly bring it up is because there are many many many viewers who feel exactly the same whether you like it or not. We all wish it wasn't the case but unfortunately the over reach of power by authority in the USA has reached extremely dangerous levels and most Americans do not feel safe in their own country anymore. Again you don't have to agree or like it but it is a fact.
You, like so many central americans bought the myth that leaving your place and relocating- NOT FOR REASONS OF WAR OR RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION- but for getting some money- was a good idea- What makes one rich is culture, family and love. You have that- There are some who are trying to bring that culture to the USA but are killed inside because it's not enough. So you were smart- a mexican should be around their people in their country- It's just a great thing and cannot be replaced by some money.
I was born and raised in the USA and never felt at peace or at home. Soon as I moved to a foreign country with a very similar culture to how I was raised I finally felt at home. Never thought in a Million years I would find the FREEDOM I was sold in the USA here in Mexico.
Look, if you are really poor and being in the USA is the way to raise your standard of living, then no amount of home cooked meals in your country of origin and family get together will make a difference. You need a certain basic standard of living to be happy.

Mmmh I’d really rather NOT live longer. I’ve seen nursing homes & I want no part of that! Plus I don’t have kids so hopefully I won’t HAVE to ever be the victim of a nursing home. I’d be better off in prison, at least they watch your ass in prison! Plus there’s younger inmates who can also help the elder inmates.

You make some good points, but that horrible street you show throughout your lecture is misleading. You totally ignored Northern Mexico. Life in Chihuahua is as good as in the USA. You can buy any American products, the standard of living is comparable to that in the USA at one half the cost, or less. Life in southern Baja California is better than even in Hawaii. You didn't mention the second most important point in favor of Mexico, after the lower costs, and that is the proximity to home. You can get home to the USA from almost anywhere in Mexico in about an hour, or two in the case of emergency. English is widely spoken in northern Baja California in particular were they get California TV and radio programs, some US radio programs broadcast from Baja. Many Mexicans who worked in the US retire to Baja. You can live in Northern Mexico and commute to work in US border cities like San Diego. Highways in Chihuahua, and the Baja California Peninsula are superb, nothing like that street from hell you featured.
