    Picked up one of these the 4K model i5 3.0Ghz 16GB RAM and the 256SSD internal for $188 with a one year warranty. I ordered a 1TB Thunderbolt SSD too, so I maximize my storage and speed potential.

      @@TechInsomnia Computer is really fast with the internal Apple SSD. I haven't received my order yet for the Thunderbolt. I'll let you know though. I can say the read speed is as fast as 2000Mb/s on the internal SSD from Apple.

    I'm still using my 2016 27" imac and i love it. Its running OS Ventura which I think is the highest I can install. I want to point out one thing i learned recently. If you use Adobe apps (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) they wont install unless the hard drive is formatted Mac OS extended.

    Great Video, thank you. Is there any chance to upgrade a old iPad to use the actual apps or min newer browsers?

    This is 2015 iMac IMO. 2017 has 2400mhz ram, not 2133.
    EDIT: ok, it has 2 thunderbolts so 2017. so what - Apple placed 8gb of 2133 even that system is capable of 2400? I’m confused 😏 week ago I upgraded ram in 21.5 2017 to 32gb ram (~50$) and sata SSD (~50$). It was fusion drive so it has pcie drive bay, but you need specific adapter to use nvme. Cool Mac :)

    it’s awesome how a simple $40 SSD can revive so many older computers, especially if the workload is light.

      Couldn’t agree more 💯 Some modern day SSD’s can really take an older computer to the next level. The new WD Black SN850X in an 8th gen i5 NVMe slot is shockingly fast and powerful. Noticeable even coming from SN770. I love SDD’s! 💯💪💙

      Thank you for your comment and support my friend. 🙏 I recently made a video on the 2009 iMac here if you'd like to check it out. ua-cam.com/video/OGdgDOp7gKM/v-deo.html
      Best advise I can offer is to get a high quality enclosure like Ugreen and you can find them on Amazon. Whether you choose to go with 2.5" SSD or M.2, stick with a Samsung SSD. These Mac's mesh the best with them. Evo 870 if 2.5" and 980 or 990 if M.2 and you will benefit from the Pro models if you don't mind spending a bit extra. Will worth the performance difference you will notice. Make sure to secure you enclosure so that it doesn't move around. Make sure who ever uses the machine, knows never to pull out that Type-C cable connected to the computer while in use. The cable quality matters when running of an external with those ports so that's why I like the Ugreen enclosures because they always come with a high quality max data transfer rate cable which is made for that enclosure. I will make another video like this soon in the feature going a bit more into detail about this specific type of workaround/upgrade. 💯 Hope this helps my friend. 🙏

      @@TechInsomniaAwesome advice, Thank you, I will be safe using the external enclosure, no kids around so I am good. I am located in Toronto, ordered one from Amazon US for $230, it will ship to a reshipper, then I will have to pay an extra $100-$130 to ship it to Toronto and then I can play with it, do you sell here any for around $400 ? will save me the hassle, I read in a comment on a page you are in T.O , how to contact you directly?

    • @TechInsomnia

      It always will because the Applications folder will be on the drive that you macOS is installed and you drag the application from the mounted volume to your Applications folder. That's where the Apps will always go after you move them over. You can erase the internal HDD using disk utility when you format your SSD and partition and mount the HDD after install and setup and all you apps are installed if you're worried about any files going where there not suppose to but that shouldn't happen and you should be fine and it will go smoothly my friend. 🙏
      This video might help you with the install process and you can use the newest OCLP 1.4.3 that literally just came out. Its good!! 🔥 ua-cam.com/video/NnuEpeP8sSg/v-deo.html
      I will make another one of these videos soon too and it will be better and better still each and every time moving forward. 🙏🙏💯

      @@TechInsomniaThank you soo much, I just did not understand the following part "and mount the HDD after install and setup " how to mount after install? isn't it get mounted automatically when we Erase both disks during boot? also I need to hook my bootable USB when I install OS on external drive right? Yes a new video with more steps will help us a lot..Can I do the same external SSD trick on 2009 Late iMac 21 inch

    • @TechInsomnia
      @TechInsomnia  7 місяців тому

      You could try but you might be better off going the internal SSD route with the 2009 only because it's older and more fussy hardware and software wise. 💯🙏

    It can be bought on eBay for $100. If you want to give your kid their first computer, this is it. This and an iPhone SE 1st Gen 16GB for $50. Give them the bare minimum so they aren't addicted, and their childhood will be much better.
