The Fate/Samurai Remnant Record’s Fragment: Yagyu Sword Chronicles DLC is a highly appreciated step up from what came before. It has a genuinely compelling narrative driven by a layered new Servant. Further, the new gameplay features are minor but accomplish what a DLC should set out to do. If you skipped out on the first DLC, I wholeheartedly recommend just skipping straight to this one. The scenario is succinct in its storytelling and character work, leaving me hopeful for what the final DLC will comprise.

I watched Ina stream a bit of this game and thought it looked interesting enough to give a try....eventually. I haven't really got into the Fate series yet and it seems a bit daunting if I'm honest. I wonder how much of a tie this game has to the anime and other games.

Most Fate are actually fairly self contained, and it's true of that game too.
That said, while you could likely just jump in and be mostly fine, if you have the time it's probably better to give Fate UBW a watch first.
It's one of the anime adaptations of the original visual novel, so it's a good introduction and one of the most referenced in other series.

@@raitoiro I _think_ Stay/Night Unlimited Blade Works was the one I had watched a few episodes of a couple years ago and then put on hold. I kinda figured that the Fate series was a collection of loosely related stories/media and I wouldn't necessarily need to watch and play every previous entry before this. I've watched a video of someone try to explain Fate before and he ended up looking like the Charlie Kelly meme with the corkboard and string.

@@PowerSynopsis this one isn't has it own story not knowing the anime events will not effect your enjoyment at all if you decide to buy it

@PowerSynopsis Can also try reading the visual novels, especially the newer remakes which are genuinely amazing. Witch on the Holy Night is one of the best VNs ever, and then Tsukihime remake is coming out in the West in only a couple months which ppl will also rave about.
I recommend Witch on the Holy Night just because its completely removed from a lot of the Fate lore and power level stuff tht is what makes it all so daunting. Its literally just a story about 3 characters in our world and it grounds the whole series. Once you get through that, you'd probably really appreciate things like Fate Stay/Night or even Garden of Sinners (GOS is some of my favorite media, full stop. Underrated masterpieces).

@@PantsaBear Maybe I will if I ever become Elden Lord. The same streamer I mentioned before was also playing one of the Fate VNs, but I didn't watch much because I like to go into those blind.

This was such a fun DLC. I only wish it was a little bit longer. While I did enjoy this DLC, I'm not gonna lie, I'm really starting to dislike Shinmen Musashi's character at this point, even more after playing the base game.. (No offense to the fans that like her).

Personally, I found it a bit disappointing, in fact despite all its fault, I much prefer the first DLC.
I like that they made DL2 more story focused, but the story wasn't all that good and the twists felt forced and really lacked impact.
And gameplay-wise it's a bit of a mix bag, the new enemy types are cool, but while Yagio look great, his gameplay is fairly generic, especially compared to Ibuki from DLC1 whose gameplay was fantastic.
