Here after watching West Side Story. She's a standout for the entire movie. I was like "WTF?? LIKE WHERE DID THIS COME FROM SPIELBERG??" Her performance is definitely Oscar worthy imo, she deserves every praise and award nomination she will get. Can't wait to see what else she does in the future, she's so talented. As much as I love Natalie Wood's performance, Rachel's was better in just about every way. And I'm glad Spielberg cast a real Latina actor to play a Latina character
Rachel is going places. She will accomplish something Natalie Wood could not do in West Side Story. She will be singing rather than having a voice over. Congratulations on landing the role of Maria in Spielberg's upcoming West Side Story. Can't wait to see this.
Kept my phone in portrait mode for a good 10 minutes because I expected to click away right away. Here I am 10 minutes later asking myself why I'm not enjoying this stunning performance fullscreen 🤩
Katie, many thanks for posting this. I experienced the Spielberg film a couple of days ago and was stunned on how good the film was in every aspect. Seeing Rachel in this amateur production at age 16 reminds me of a HS football player in the 90's at my alma mater who was so much more talented than his peers. He went on to have an MVP season in the NFL. Rachel has a fine career ahead of her and will delight us for long time. Friday I predicted an Oscar nom for her Maria and today she was nominated for a Golden Globe. What a talent!
So proud of Rachel!!! So amazing to see how far she's come as an indivdual and a person. If GLEE was written now, Ryan Murphy would have found a better selection for "Rachel Barbra Berry"...... it's Rachel Zegler!!!! Seriously the new Lea Michele (but the kinder, humble, and sweet version on both sides on and off stage & camera).
She is perfectly cast! Mr. Spielberg knows how to cast and he knows how to handle actors - and he nice about out! How do I know?! He is a Sag just like me! I'm a 12-12-1961 - I can I am a multiple threat - in front and behind. Get your mind out of the gutter. I know what you are thinking! I am telling your father. The camera the camera. I need a stabe
It's called one hand one heart (personally my least favorite song in the musical haha but still pretty!) He did and apparently didn't like writing it because all the words had to be one syllable which is difficult.
Just to let you know, Natalie Wood didn't do her own singing as Maria, Marni Nixon sang for Maria in the movie so you hear Marni Nixon's over Rachel's. But I get what you're saying, I totally understand! I love the original movie too, please don't take this in the wrong way:)
Natalie didn't even sing tho, her voice was dubbed, many of the cast's singing voice in the original was dubbed whereas Spielberg's movie, everyone sings on set to make it easy for him
It’s a mic bro……. They usually are either on the head and goes down the side of the neck or they put it on the check but the check one is harder to fit for people
Here's a thought why not get a Puerto Rican to play a Puerto Rican. Just saying. Here's a movie I will not see until it's on cable. This is some bullshit. Adeline from The Bronx a real Boricua.

Agreed she was outstanding
She’s such a standout with that voice!

What a voice!

I dont know! rachel berry is supposed to be very unlikeable .I cant see this rachel being so cringey
Both are talented singers, but you can see Rachel is a special singer
Maria really doesn’t have much stage time at all

Wow.
Wow, in "Tonight (Quintet)," she sounds exactly as she does in the film!
パッと出てきたんじゃなくて、下積みがあっての映画だったのですね。
ほんと歌も上手いし、演技も上手い。
可愛らしすぎる!
The tony here even sings better than ansel elgort did in the movie lol
I think he is better in all aspects and he's a very capable partner for Rachel.
What is the name of the song being sung at 20:45 ? Did Sondheim actually write it?
It's called one hand one heart (personally my least favorite song in the musical haha but still pretty!) He did and apparently didn't like writing it because all the words had to be one syllable which is difficult.
It's one of my favorites. I love the duets in this movie.
Bernstein wrote the music
It would be so much more enjoyable if they didn't stick commercials in the middle of songs! Bad timing
Natalie Wood is my Maria. I hear her voice over Rachel’s. It’s indelible in my head. She sings beautifully, though.

Is that Mexicans or Indians? Why Al they dressed in red and why Rachel had red spot on her forehead?
tf

Does Rachel has scoliosis?
I hope her voice has matured a bit more. Very shrill.
This was filmed 3 years before she filmed the west side story movie

Wah wah wah ………more like bore
Be grateful she’s a Latina
@@idaf3028 grateful isn’t in their lexicon
