  • How I learned to change the crankcase (engine) oil of my Piaggio Fly 125.
Disclaimer: I am a Piaggio owner, not a Piaggio expert; I'm not even a mechanic. I live a long way from any service centre, so I've had to learn how to service and replace things myself. I am happy to share my discoveries, but cannot guarantee that what I do is the right way to do it, nor if it will work for others.

I followed this video to change my oil on my 2006 Liberty , The only thing i had to do was take the exhaust off. However if you do not have the correct tools for the job i would not recommend doing this !!!
I was very pleased that i changed the oil and the gear box oil by following instuctions put on by people that have the time to do this , Many Thanks

Thank you. Piaggio manual recommends an engine oil change after every 6,000 kms.

Thanks so much for your video I had the same issue with removing the drain plug. I finally had to remove the exhaust pipe (2 header nuts and loosen the strap at the muffler) was then able to get my socket on the drain plug and with the impact wrench connected it came out faster then you could say piaggio. In the excitement I forgot to put my oil pan under the scooter to catch the old oil. My wife who was watching burst into laughter and said “no dinner until you clean up that mess “ rotflol

Me too! There wasn't a video on the subject, so I made one. Others have helped me greatly with 'how-to' vids and pages on the 'Net, and I think one ought to give something back, if possible. Thank you for your comment.

Hey mate top video, I did mine on the weekend and didnt have a 24mm ring spanner so i had to use a socket which means moving the exhaust to fit the socket onto the sump plug. I used motul 10w-40. And yes mine was so stupidly unbelievably tight to get off too!!

Thank you. Glad to be of service. I think repeated heating and cooling must tighten that nut. Or maybe the last service team put it on with a rattle-gun, or a torque wrench.

Thanks for the filter tips. I have a Fly 150 and it uses the same filter type but, as you have mentioned already, Piaggio won't tell you which is the right one. Got the HIFLO from Amazon, about $8.

Bought a Piaggio Fly 125ie last month. Loving it.
    Very useful video, thanks.
It's going in for its 1000km service on Tuesday - I tried to check the hub oil (yep, just check it!) the other day. The torque that the workshop guys had used was ridiculous. Nearly took the skin off my whole hand! How are you supposed to do general maintenance if you can't even check the oil level?!
I'll be getting them to reduce the torque on it, and I'll make sure they do the same with the engine oil cap too.

    • @TheBlueDaweStudioThirlmere
      @TheBlueDaweStudioThirlmere 2 роки тому

Lástima que no hiciste tu pregunta en inglés. No había juntas tóricas, o las habría reemplazado. El tornillo era para sujetar el tubo de escape en su lugar. Tuvo que ser movida para completar la operación.

@@TheBlueDaweStudioThirlmere Excuse me, but on Piaggio Liberty it does have O-rings, one on the filler rod cap, ... Another on the screw nut, drain cap, ... And finally another on the filter housed in the oil outlet duct. .. It is convenient to check the last 2 and it is better to change .. the filler cap can be done at any time. I don't know if the Fly carries them or not, although I think and would say yes. I have written this comment in Google translate so that it reaches you in English... The language issue is solvable if you edit and add subtitles in Spanish. There is a large Hispanic community to follow your good videos. you will gain subscribers. Greetings friend.

@The BlueDawe Studio The exhaust pipe is a bit annoying for this operation, in my case I had to remove it because there was no way to loosen the drain plug screw, with a knurled wrench or with the wrench open, and to be able to insert a 24 mm ratchet socket, there was no space... so I had to completely disassemble the tube.
