As a kid I'd have sleepovers with friends just taking turns at the game grinding up the entire cast in the single player. And just jumping around the Leaf Village was so much fun. I miss this era of gaming because it just felt so innocent and carefree. A lot of people are upset that the newest storm game is so similar to the previous but honestly, I would have not cared at all if that were to happen back in the day. Of course standards of gaming have changed as you get older and what not, but I remember literally getting ultimate ninja 1 after playing and beating ultimate ninja 2 & 3 just because it was an extra game to play despite how similar and improved the others were. The storm series, while fun, just lost a lot of what made the OG ones so amazing. No jutsu clashes, no more sharingan letting you copy the opponents jutsu, How cinematic the ultimates were, and how awesome some of the characters felt to unlock and play with. I remember unlocking Minato when he was only known as "The yellow flash" and just being amazed at his speed, his lack of talking, the bones cracking in his ultimate and how cool he was. Same with finally using Itachi after seeing him for the first time in the anime. This series really came full circle for me at ultimate ninja 5. I grew up playing them all and remember each and cherish them deeply. But 5 with the instant awakenings, support chacrters, team ultimates, and extra ougis depending on the character hits the spot. I do miss useless or side chacrters like armless orochimaru from un2 or Anbu kakashi but ultimate ninja 5s roster is near perfect. I just wish we got a ultimate ninja 6 that went at least to killer bee or pain Konoha to fully flesh out the battle system and graphics and overall gameplay.
Dude, I still remember the day I went with my dad to buy Ultimate Ninja 3 on the release day. I come from a single-parent household and was always very aware of money as a child, so it was genuinely the first thing I genuinely asked for. The first two my dad bought for me as presents bc we played the PS2 and watched Naruto together (among many other shows), but he genuinely took interest in what excited me. Like I said, I never expected much and never asked for much (even so far as basing what I would get to eat when we went out based on price). But when I heard Ultimate Ninja 3 was coming out from Viz Media's website... I knew I had to have it. It obviously meant so much to me as a kid bc I still remember it to this day. One of the best games of my childhood. The only rivals are the classic PS and PS2 games... Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Spyro, Sly Cooper, Tony Hawk, Syphon Filter, Max Payne, Tekken, Soul Caliber, Gauntlet, etc. This game stands amongst gods in my mind. That said, I probably played more Ultimate Ninja 4 simply bc of the roster. Maybe I'm wrong, bc I know I spent SOOOOO much time in the overworld in 3.
I never played Ultimate Ninja 5 (makes me nostalgic and a bit sad) cause it never came to the US. Back then, I would wait for months so I could travel to Texas (Im from Mexico) and buy Ultimate Ninja games at Gamestop. I spent hundreds of hours playing Ultimate Ninja 3 and 4 or Chronicles 2. Loved so much the games, I remember them fondly
In grade 4-8 we had a student lounge in my school and we had a ps2 to play on during recess. You KNOW i brought Ultimate ninja 3 every day and it was always a blast
I remember playing 1-3 a lot with my brother growing up and when we saw Ultimate Ninja 4 on display in GameStop we instantly bought it lol. We didn’t even know at the time there was even a 4. We never even watched Shippuden at the time but we did know it was a thing. We didn’t have internet or a computer to even watch Naruto Shippuden so when we played 4 for the first time and met Sasori and Deidara… man that was such an epic moment for us. Now as for Ultimate Ninja 5 we never owned the game but we did play it only once for the first time at a friend’s house. The game was in Japanese and he doesn’t know Japanese, he just kinda figured it out on his own what each menu selection buttons do lol. But the first time we played UN5 was so cool! The ultimate jutsus were amazing and the fact you get to combine them with different characters did it for me. Only played versus match for like 1hr 30mins and that is all I remember from playing Ultimate Ninja 5 that one single time lol
I will always keep these games close to my heart. I absolutely love the Ultimate ninja series. Even though looking back on it now its not looked upon by FGC standards compared to fighters like tekken or SF, for what it is it on its own, it's still a great series that I still think back fondly of.
Ultimate Ninja has such good action. The words popping up after hits, the unique U.I, the AMAZING ultimates, just supremely underrated. Hope I can meet some fellow nerds who can appreciate this game with me.
Hell yeah, I've always been very observant even as a little kid playing this game with my brother, I thought the UI was so creative and unique and I've always wanted to make my own RPG game like this!
I love the energy of the commentator because it’s the same exact energy and hype that I have for the game and I had for these games when I was younger playing them for the first time
Ultimate Ninja 3…. God, what a game. Love it so much. It’s crazy that the visuals(in my opinion) hold up well against the Storm Series. When I watch videos of it or play it again I’m always amazed at just how damn good it looks to be a game from 2007/2009
I am glad to hear that that this excites you but can i please dear freind ask you can you refrain from using God s name in vain it bothers me you see you can always say Thank you G for this game as in blessing to and in adoration this way we respect him what do you think? not just that you can tell your Father and Mother by using his name in this way DAD may Lord bless you or MOm or a freind this way you help them greatly that their life get blessed then things can go well moustly when somone s going somewhere you can say Lord please bless their trip and keep them safe you can create prayer with prayer you can control your self and get under thing keep it from bad toughs
The uzumaki chronicles were my top favorite Naruto games as a kid. I beat both of them too. I replayed them as an adult and forgot how hard they were lmao
Ultimate ninja 3 is definitely my favorite in the series. But I can’t lie and not admit that I have had so many battles with my cousin in the first game. This game brings back so many memories, I can definitely feel your passion for the game through the video. Great video. 👍🏾
In South Africa we did a thing called “chipping your Playstation” that means you would be able to play non original games as well as region locked games. I was first introduced to Naruto via PS, my mom would take these business trips to China and always bring back some cool things. She brought me back Naruto thinking its was DBZ due to the yellow hair etc. Now the game did not work on Console initially until we took it to a guy that would chip it therefor also enabling me to purchase games on the cheap, and this was around 06 I think it was and I was introduced to the world of Naruto from that point, I would start to pick up the Anime around 07/08 and have never looked back.
I remember being in middle school in 2005 and wanting Ultimate Ninja 3 SO BAD but it hadnt released in English yet so I bought a PS2 region unlocking tool, somehow managed to install in on my PS2 Slim, and ordered the JP copy of the game from eBay. That game blew my mind.
I got Ultimate Ninja 1 for my birthday in 2007. A couple months later, my older brother bought a copy of Ultimate Ninja 2, which was 100x better. Then in 2008, Ultimate Ninja 3 came out on the same day as my younger brother's birthday, so I got my own personal gift on someone else's birthday. In 2009, Gamestop gave me a copy of Ultimate Ninja 4 a week early, and asked me to write a review for it, which I never completed. Of course, the game I wanted to play the most was Ultimate Ninja 5, which I was obsessed with for years, watching videos of it on UA-cam in 2007 and 2008. Of course, they never released it in the USA. But around 2016, I got a job and bought a European Playstation 2 and a copy of UN5 from the UK on Ebay, and finally fulfilled my childhood dream.
oI remember when ultimate ninja 3 came out me and my cousin went to get it fo $40 we ran to his house and played sasuke and naruto went into second forms and when we did the jujutsu clash shit blew out minds as kids cause it was just like dbz games
Ultimate ninja 2 for me is where for me they took it to next level as a kid. Anyone remember taijutsu naruto. You got him from training with Guy😂😂. The mini games were crazy too. Man I could go on. The amount of controls me and my friends went through from destroying the analogs and buttons from when trying to cancel a special
I absolutely loved the Ultimate Ninja Series. My favorite was hard to choose but I would pick UN2 because of the time I spent doing the tree climbing minigame and unlocking Taijutsu Naruto was dope. UN4 had the awesome prequel story. Here is hoping for a Naruto DLC character for Tekken 8 as Lars was a guest character in UNS2.
I played Ultimate Ninja 4 as a kid & can attest to what you said about it being mindblowing. I remember wanting to import a japanese PS2 to play Narutimate Accel 2(Ultimate Ninja 5) but never got to. I had seen videos of gameplay here on UA-cam & being enamored with all the changes to movesets & wanting to play as Sasuke, 4 Tails Naruto, & Orochimaru. IIRC by the time Storm 2 came out Accel 3 came to US in the form of Ultimate Ninja Heroes 3. I still haven't gotten around to playing that game.
So funny story of me with this games I live in central america and in those times like around 2012, 2013 getting games wasn't that easy or a console but one cousin of mine gave me his ps2 because he wasn't really going to use it anymore and very soon after I would discover that you could buy these games in burned discs and one day after going with my mother to the mall when we were waiting for the bus back home there was this pirate movies selling in the bus stop place and there I saw Shippuden Ultimate Ninja 5 and begged my mother to buy it for me and I was so incredible happy to have it (it costed only 1 dollar lol) and the next month I went back to buy Shippuden Ultimate Ninja 4 and really loved both games so much that I can't even describe it they were my life back then and I really miss playing them, the funny thing is that you say that you couldn't play SUN5 in any ps2 because it never went out in america but I could in my ps2 so I wonder how was that possible
I’m glad I’m not the only one that misses these games. Naruto ultimate ninja 3 is HOW I learned about naruto when I was 5-6. Ultimate ninja 3 and 5 my fav games of all time.
Ultimate ninja 3 was my first introduction to the 4th Hokage and instantly said he was Narutos dad and he became my favorite character. Silent the whole time but effortlessly styling on everyone
I miss manuals being included in the box. It was really fun to read through these on your way home, hyping yourself up for the game you're about to play. Nowadays all you get is a piece of paper that says "visit us online to read the manual". Back in the ps1 and ps2 era they turned opening the box into an experience 😅. The GTA games, for example, used to have manuals that were written like a guide for tourists and Metal Gear Solid games had exclusive art work for the characters and several pages full of explanations of the world and its backstory.
Fun fact ultimate ninja 4 was (possibly my memory is spotty on this) the first game I got from gamestop back when they still had ps2 games out in the store.
I played ultimate ninja 2 when I was 5-6 and it was so cool to me. I remember being stuck on the story mode and I'd get so mad because the enemy (I don't remember who) kept healing
I played the ever-loving hell out of these games as a kid. Ultimate Ninja 3 was my favorite. Even after more games came out, I still went back and played that one.
The Ultimate Ninja games were some of my favorite fighting games back then. Loved playing the game with friends. Ultimate Ninja 2 and 3 were my favorite, especially 3. The first game and 4 were pretty fun too. I remember being really bummed when 5 didn't come over to the US.
Since I don’t see anyone else really talking about it. In UN3 there is a secret way to unlock a secret character which is minato. Of course at this point in time they just call him the fourth hokage. But he def is unlockable. Remember finding that out with my big brother when we were kids. You get him by unlocking EVERY other character. It wasn’t common place to be able to play as the hokages back then either so even playing as 1-4 was a HUGE thing. Well at least for me it was. Good times
I never had the chance to play ultimate ninja 3 as a kid but I did play 1 and 2. Part 2 was my favorite and I spent over so many hours just grinding and leveling up all my characters
Wow, this was great trip down memory lane. The ultimate ninja games hold such a special place in my heart and got me through some pretty rough childhood years. The fact that we got 4 (or more in Japan) is crazy to me. Can't wait for Storm Connections.
This video brought back so many childhood memories. I miss the ultimate ninja series so much. I unfortunately had to sell my PS2 and games to support my family years ago. Really wish I still had these games.
Man... this brings back so many memories for me. And nightmares for my old best friend at the time. He had rented this game at the store and was playing it when I visited him. Found it interesting and was into Naruto at the time. Played a lil bit of it and did some VS with my friend but he pummeled me of course. Few weeks passed and I caught the game on sale so I bought it. Was finally getting the hang of the ultimates and liking the game. Bestie came over to play a lot with me as well. The thing was tho, at a certain point the game just clicked for me and nothing, and I do mean nothing was hard for me in the game anymore. I played on max difficulty and the computer could barely keep me entertained while my friend still struggled on the difficulty under max. To give you an idea, I beat my friend with my eyes closed while I was stoned out of my mind. He was so focused on the fight that he didn't look at me once. I was able to counter him a few times and of course I didnt use any ultimates cause I couldn't do the button mashing with my eyes closed. I barely won the fight and then he turns and asks me why I kept humping the corner of the screen for most of the fight. Told him I had my eyes closed and he was pissed. He was so determined to beat me he asked to borrow the game so he could train to beat me. I said sure. He played day in and day out for 3 months while I took a break for those 3 months and didnt touch the game. After 3 months he's able to fight on max difficulty and feels ready to beat me. Keep in mind I didn't touch the game for 3 months at that point. We start the game, start the fight and I pick Itachi cause he was my fav to use. I ask him to give me a few secs to recall the controls. Then we fight. First fight, I barely won the fight, it could've gone either way. Second fight, I win with 1/4 hp left, third fight I win with 1/2 hp, 4th fight he didn't even touch me once. He never wanted to play against me ever again. We could laugh about it years later but at the time he simply didn't want to play fighting games with me anymore. Ultimate ninja 2 and 3 were the only fighting games I was ever good at. Kids could mop the floor with me at MK and SF on how bad I was. But for some reason something just clicked with Ultimate Ninja 2 and 3. Good times good times.
It always stung a bit whenever I’d hear people talk about the storm games to death so I’m happy to see someone FINALLY give the OG Ultimate Ninja games. Storm games are great but these ones are just something special and, in a lot of ways, hold up a lot better than it’s successors. That said my favorite is a a toss up between 2 and 3. 2 was a my first and(despite its ass blasting difficulty) will have a special place in my heart. 3 on the other hand refines everything(from gameplay to story modes) to that juuuust right point that I’d consider perfect. Only thing I’d consider a drawback is the dialed back Cel-shading. I prefer the heavy cel-shading from the first two games
God I remember as a kid Ultimate Ninja 1 being extremely hard especially for some of the higher up missions to unlock Cursed Mark Sasuke and Nine-Tails Naruto. Good times, but aggravating ones too lol.
Since I'm skipping connections, looks like its time to emulate and experience Ultimate Ninja 3-5! Couldn't help but laugh at the manual either lol, dang no wonder they stopped including (which I miss) Ultimate Ninja 5 used all the ink xD
A fun fact i learned about he ultimate ninja gmaes is that the first game was actually pretty far along in development before the director at the time was even given permission from bandai to even create the game. Of course the higher-ups were mad about it but they green lit it anyways
These games are GOATED. this was the only game that I absolutely had to mod my PS2 to play the 5th one because it was never released in the U.S. and thank God I found an English walkthrough of the complete game to unlock all the characters. The jutsus are so epic. Storm games could learn a lot from these.
I was 11 when ultimate ninja came out and i was hooked, i never got into DragonBall Z but Naruto was always awesome its crazy to see how far weve gotten with the series and the games, we need a 2D MVC type Naruto fighter game
The first Ultimate Ninja was the game that introduced me into the anime/manga, discovering Naruto that way was an amazing feeling for real. To choose my favorite, Ultimate Ninja 3 will always be my favorite even tho I love them all.
UN2 (Narutimate Hero 2) on PS2 was the game that got me to mod my PS2 back in the day. My friends and I spent tons of hours playing burnt copies of the JPN releases because we were watching the subs and couldn't wait for the US releases.
Man i couldn't even get ultimate ninja 3 for a while as a kid. I got it pre owned at gamestop for 18 after trading out 3 of my old games. That game was one of the best naruto games ive played. Loved the chronicles series and the ninja counsil 2 and 3 on ds man those were the times
god i love the character select from ultimate ninja, i think having the playable characters in one artwork and the one you pick getting higlighted with colour is such a cool feature.
4 was my first one and i loved it. Especially the opening gameplay where you travel with Jiraya. It introduced me to the Naruto franchise and god i loved it. Also I was very upset when i found out he didnt keep the outfit from the start
Actually, the Uzumaki Chronicles games didn't end, nor were they folded into Ultimate Ninja (they're separate developers too), but they changed the name of the series not once but twice. Naruto Shippuden: Legends: Akatsuki Rising and Naruto Shippuden: Kizuna Drive are Uzumaki Chronicles 3 and 4 with the same developers and working in the Shippuden series but they were PSP titles! Kinda crazy how many times they tried rebranding that series, but they definitely weren't as popular since usually they had filler stories, with the sole exception being Akatsuki Rising.
Oh man, i remember playing this as a teenager, i believe 1 was the first game i got with my PS2, i got into a lot of tournaments of Naruto Accel (UN5) in anime conventions.
Im still sad the storm games don’t have sasori in hiruko, loved playing as him in ultimate ninja 4, also shame they didn’t make pain multiple characters like in the ultimate ninja games on psp having 3 pain’s was awesome, I wish they would port all the original ultimate ninja games to ps4-5
Man when I tell yall that the Ultimate Ninja and Uzumaki Chronicle games had my middle and junior high years on lock 😭😭😭 I will literally start a new save just to relive my childhood games
Naruto Ultimate Ninja was my introduction to the Naruto series… I use to think Naruto was just some dumb stereotypical anime but playing that game made me like Naruto but I never actually watched it until a few years later… thanks to my uncle for getting me that game when I was a kid for Christmas 🫡
I got into the series when ultimate ninja 2 came out, after seeing a trailer, for it, included with Uzumaki Chronicles 2, which was my first Naruto game, much to your dismay I’m sure lol. Fell in love with the series from that point on, and the series really helped to cement my love for Naruto as a whole. I probably have the most memories with UN3, although, from a gameplay perspective, 5 definitely feels the most complete. 4 always felt awkward to me. It barely made it into the Shippuden storyline, so it only introduced a very small handful of new characters. Always felt like 4 could’ve just passed as an expansion for 3. I remember hoping that 5 would get a US release after seeing videos of it online; but when it didn’t, I imported it and got swap magic to play it on my American PS2. Also worth noting, the Japanese version of 5 definitely is superior to the PAL version. The European one is locked at 50FPS unless you force it to 60 with swap magic, and there are glitches with some character’s movesets to where some moves don’t work at all. Obviously the hurdle for playing the Japanese version is being able to read Japanese, but the fighting definitely feels smoother with it for sure.

in a parallel universe they kept making the OG ultimate ninja and clash of ninja games all the way up to kaguya
Ugh I wishhhh!!
As a photocopier tech it's so funny hearing Matty talk about how much effort they put into the manual for NSUN 5 😂😂😂 he's right that ain't cheap!!!
UN5 was fun but unlocking characters was hell
Ultimate Ninja 5 is one of the best games of my childhood. Its amazing to me, I love it.
I loved playing these, no bs my grandma got me into Naruto. She bought me this game and I didn’t even watch it at the time, been a fan ever since.
I love the energy of the commentator because it’s the same exact energy and hype that I have for the game and I had for these games when I was younger playing them for the first time
remembering? I downloaded a ps2 emulator on my folding phone so i can relive this time on the go
Playing this with your friends, especially Free Battle Mode is phenomenal. Ultimate Ninja 3 🔥
I remember ordering the Japanese version so I could play the game early. With the disc/ card tool that you have to use so can run it on the NA PS2

Man Ultimate Ninja 3 just brings back memories.... the story n the IQ just have to unlock the 4 kages was simply amazing...
You really are an OG if you grew up playing these as a kid. This an clash of ninja on GameCube was good times.
completing the story and missions and unlocking the new characters was such a good feeling
I remember playing ultimate ninja 3, 4 and 5. But 3 was soo good.
Your channel always brings back so many childhood memories
They should bring this franchise back!
I wish they gave these hd remakes loved these !!!
They need to so bad i would play the hell out of them
I absolutely loved the Ultimate Ninja Series.
Ultimate Ninja 5 is the first and only game i ever imported and modded my ps2 to play back in the day
I played Ultimate Ninja 4 as a kid & can attest to what you said about it being mindblowing.
Matty, I gotta say you’re goated for making a video on this series thank you I really appreciate it
Ultimate Ninja 3 was my game during my childhood. The only game I've ever 100%ed in my gaming life, it just that good and addicting.
So funny story of me with this games
I live in central america and in those times like around 2012, 2013 getting games wasn't that easy or a console but one cousin of mine gave me his ps2 because he wasn't really going to use it anymore and very soon after I would discover that you could buy these games in burned discs and one day after going with my mother to the mall when we were waiting for the bus back home there was this pirate movies selling in the bus stop place and there I saw Shippuden Ultimate Ninja 5 and begged my mother to buy it for me and I was so incredible happy to have it (it costed only 1 dollar lol) and the next month I went back to buy Shippuden Ultimate Ninja 4 and really loved both games so much that I can't even describe it they were my life back then and I really miss playing them, the funny thing is that you say that you couldn't play SUN5 in any ps2 because it never went out in america but I could in my ps2 so I wonder how was that possible
I’m glad I’m not the only one that misses these games. Naruto ultimate ninja 3 is HOW I learned about naruto when I was 5-6. Ultimate ninja 3 and 5 my fav games of all time.
This almost made me tear up. This series made my childhood. And seeing the old gameplay has me wanting to get a ps2 just to play again
Your channel Highlights my Childhood. I love your channel.
Ultimate ninja 3 and 5 were my favorites, loved them
Fun fact ultimate ninja 4 was (possibly my memory is spotty on this) the first game I got from gamestop back when they still had ps2 games out in the store.
I played ultimate ninja 2 when I was 5-6 and it was so cool to me. I remember being stuck on the story mode and I'd get so mad because the enemy (I don't remember who) kept healing
I played the hell out of Ultimate Ninja 3 when I was younger... I didn't know they made a 4th and 5th game 😅
Good times
It was only a matter of time until we got here. This series is goated no debate 🔥
I never had the chance to play ultimate ninja 3 as a kid but I did play 1 and 2. Part 2 was my favorite and I spent over so many hours just grinding and leveling up all my characters
Might guy was doing air walk and EE in 7th gate in these games
This was my childhood
Watching this really shows the passion they put in the games
The ultimate ninja games paired with the budokai tenkaichi games was PEAK PS2 Games
Wow, this was great trip down memory lane. The ultimate ninja games hold such a special place in my heart and got me through some pretty rough childhood years. The fact that we got 4 (or more in Japan) is crazy to me.
Can't wait for Storm Connections.
How storm connections going?😂
This video brought back so many childhood memories. I miss the ultimate ninja series so much. I unfortunately had to sell my PS2 and games to support my family years ago. Really wish I still had these games.
It is so cool that you have retained the physical copies. It is simply marvelous to look at the cover art, and pore over the manual!
Man... this brings back so many memories for me.
Hopefully, we can get a new Ultimate Ninja, just like how we got a new BT for Dragon Ball.
I miss these games
I think about these games at-least 3 times a year. I miss them so much
Man i couldn't even get ultimate ninja 3 for a while as a kid. I got it pre owned at gamestop for 18 after trading out 3 of my old games. That game was one of the best naruto games ive played. Loved the chronicles series and the ninja counsil 2 and 3 on ds man those were the times
The storm series needs to bring back
-Jutsu clashes
-Awakened Ultimate
god i love the character select from ultimate ninja, i think having the playable characters in one artwork and the one you pick getting higlighted with colour is such a cool feature.
This video is pure nostalgia man
Ultimate ninja 5 was peak 🔥 I still have it on PS2 and still play it to this day
Been subbed to MrMattyPlays since 2014, but Retro Rebound just steals the show every upload. Love this damn channel.
Finally someone talks about these OGs!! Grew up playing all these
Bro the way you talk so highly about Naruto makes me proud and it reminds me of myself it's rare to come across "#1 fan" typa fan🔥
I never knew there was an Ultimate Ninja 5... well now I need to finish the collection.
same thought
I remember first playing this game at my cousins house and absolutely falling in love with it
Ultimate Ninja 5 is truly GOATED. My favorite anime game of all time!
Ultimate ninja 4 is still probably my favorite .
4 was my first one and i loved it. Especially the opening gameplay where you travel with Jiraya. It introduced me to the Naruto franchise and god i loved it. Also I was very upset when i found out he didnt keep the outfit from the start
i remember as a kid sitting and drawing the collectable cards in these games that got me into drawing i still draw until this day
Actually, the Uzumaki Chronicles games didn't end, nor were they folded into Ultimate Ninja (they're separate developers too), but they changed the name of the series not once but twice.
WHAT?! That’s insane. I gotta check these out. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
@retrorebound8887 no problem, glad to inform you about them and looking forward to a possible video in the future from you!
He’s in revolution 3 at least
Uzamaki chronicles is elden ring for naruto fans
