I was so upset the day he left Megadeth, but after I saw his progress in Japan, man he really found his true self there, he was right about saying experiencing more colors in music rather than sticking to a band and doing same things over and over again. He is a great musician overall and a great inspiration.

i asked him that question in his clinics. he mentioned that reason why is not because he started picking like that when he first started or anything its actually because he prefers the notes to ring rather than palm mute , the only time he palm mutes is when he's riffing or to stop and single finger flick to get his vibratos down
When i saw him about 20yrs ago in a music shop in singapore he joked that his wild angle to his picking hand was too much m*sturbation hahahahahhaa. He was super chill though and stopped to chat and even supplied a poster with his autograph. The best out there for sure!

True. Marty, being a resident of Japan for the last 20 sum odd years, has totally immersed himself in everything Japanese. I can't say i blame him. If i had the means to pack up, move and live comfortably outside of the states it would DEFINITELY be Japan.
He has such amazing technique and feel its not even funny. His interpretation is some of the best I've ever heard. And watch him play his stuff, he's like in his own world. One of the greatest guitar players to walk the earth

Yeah, it's not his guitar. I remember Marty saying the guitar got burnt in a fire. The fire probably damaged the parts with inlay more than the other parts of the neck; hence the scalloping on those frets.
What a fucking legend. I couldn't imagine reinventing myself in another country, much less being famous. Marty is an inspiration musically, both before and after megadeth, but also personally for uprooting himself and making it in another country on his own.
