Running 42.195km on my 42.195th birthday

- Marathon my Age: My decimal age on March 2nd, 2022 was 42.195, which by no coincidence is also the length of a marathon in kilometres. To celebrate being alive, based on the actions of two people almost 43 years ago, I decided to run the famous distance around my district, retracing my history via schools, homes, memories and odd experiences that have shaped me, mum and dad over this marathon-chunk of time.

Never change, Beau
Thanks Beau, for teaching us that adventure can more easily be found on our doorsteps, than anywhere else. Love your philosophy, and your sense of humor just as much. All the best!
Awesome to see you here! From memory, it was in the suggested videos of one of beaus videos that I stumbled upon your channel. Beau is a legend. I’d love a crossover video with the pair of you!
Thanks Outsider. I boomerang the kudos. Your content is content worth watching. Goodonya for being an outsider
I can imagine when Helen picks Beau up she knows theres at least a dozen stops on the way home for apples, plants, pots and pans and an assortment of goodies lol! What a great start to the day always gets us here motivated to get out and about! Cheers Beau agree a bloody Legend!
Yep. although yet to get that set of pots and pans...
man, I love this guy's attitude and perspective. No need for a fancy watch or wicked fast splits. Just go out somewhere cool, swing on a swing, get a little lost, come home with a smile and a tree in your backpack.
Best kind of adventure!
Other than that Seiko!
I just celebrated my 27th birthday by sleeping for 27 hours straight.
Sleep tight my king
I celebrated my 16th birthday by living 16 more years.
Just to be clear, I didn’t die at the end. I’m saving that part for later.
You’re a bloody legend, Beau.
Only Beau could take an olive tree for a run and have it just seem like a totally natural part of his day. Brililant as always, congratulations on the marathon!
Hey Beau,
needless to say, you are awesome.
I live in Germany on the other side of the world and just come out of a heavy period of depression.
Your videos helped me understand and admire the beauty of the little things in life and help me make a 180 turn to being happy again.
Thank you for the amazing contend that is a big part and a huge inspiration for me.
Keep on doing things.
Love Tobi
You have many talents speaking or writing english in such a high level is one of it.
Thats something aprecialable in my opinion
Goodonya, Tobi. Enjoy the oncoming summer mate.
Hi Tobi, komme auch aus DE. Hoffe dir geht es schon (bald) besser! Ich bin voll bei dir, mit dem was du sagst .. grüße marcel
alles gute marcel.
grüsse aus dem nördlichen münsterland
Vorwärts Tobi, ich denk an dich!
One of the best skills this guy has is that he finds something to be happy and excited about. I could stand to get a bit more of that into my life. Kudos to you, Sir.
@M Loxton Couldn’t we all! Cheers.
This video is the definition of "It's not about the destination, its the journey that gets you there." The bloke sets out with the goal of running a set distance for his decimal birthday, but it ends up being a nostalgia trip (which as an outsider was so wholesome to see by the way.) and in the end he went over the bloody number anyway!
I want Beau Miles videos injected into my veins. So good!
Man I love your videos. What a champion
I've spent time reminiscing over the past few weeks. My mum passed away at the beginning of the month. I grew up in rural Wales and spent a lot of my time exploring. I think I'll go home next month and have a look around for the first time in a while. See what I find.
I’m incredibly sorry for your loss. I hope that being at touch with your home and your childhood helps you find some clarity and peace.
I went back to my hometown i left in '84 and was looking for a shopping centre and an unbelievably massive wall.... i got there and it was 4 shops and the wall was up to my neck.
You just put the biggest smile on my face Beau! I love how the video ended!
Can't wait for 100km at 100yrs!
The world needs more Beau Miles, infectious positive attitude to life. Keep 'er lit Beau 🇮🇪
yeow!
I love this man so much. All the apple eating, simple living, picking yourself up from where you are, adventure without frills, all of it appeals to me.
I still don't understand how Beau is not at 1 mil + subs. Content is always amazing, the video production is fantastic.
Gotta be one of the best documentarians out there. He could make a docu about anything and it would be interesting.
Not posting enough
such a quiet kid what happened :-P...... and the best apples are the ones you find.
Love love love your take on life Beau, running with a shade tree hahahahaha thats new...narr not for Beau...bloody oath.
This is a unique way of running a marathon, unique in a good way and funny too. I liked that you didn't pay attention to how fast you will complete the Marathon, you rather focus on the experience
I am turning 42 in a few weeks. I had the same thought. Then I saw your channel. Going for it now
Man, you are so good at telling stories!! Love your content!! Love from India!
ITS NOT A STORY, ITS ACTUALLY REAL!
Thanks for sharing your awesome adventures, and your wonderful films about them. ❤️
I needed some Beau perspective right about now
just ran my first marathon in Brighton, UK. I still can't decide if I hated it or loved it, time went so quick, yet i was in an awful place at about mile 18-22, completely cramped up both my legs and couldn't run at all. Got overtaken by a person dressed as a minion.
I thought of you during that period, you've always inspired me to a be a better person. Your mindset on life is so pure, it helped me channel whatever pain I had into a positive.
I didn't stop going forward, I just couldn't run without more damage being caused. But I kept going forward. I thought 'What can I do if I can't jog for 1000 meters' as I hit the final straight. I hadn't even ran more than a half marathon before. But I crossed that line running and smiling, thanks to you Beau!
Happy Birthday!!!
Love your storytelling, but most of all your big hilarious heart 👏🏼❤️😀
Jesus this made me laugh. What a guy, what a story. Thank you for sharing. And I have to admit to ensure the vids keep coming, I do find it somewhat inspiring. Enthusiasm is so infectious.
Bless you for your encouragement. Good hearted gingers are hard to find!!
The bravery of eating asphalt apples, yuck...
Amazing Beau I always love hearing the way you think. Inspiring always!
Beau is one of a kind, lol.
Man's got the strongest stomach in Australia
Oh man, need to see more of your father now!
Yes plz
Explains a lot, doesn't it?
One of my favourite things about Beau and his relationship with running is that he simply ENJOYS running, running for the sake of it, he absolutely loves it and relishes in it. So many runners get so caught up in trying to "improve" as a runner. In a bid for faster splits, lower pace and performance, they forget to actually just have fun being fit and able. An 8 hour run wasn't "gruelling" (fuelled by bear and a quarter of it carrying a small tree mind you), it was simply fun. He almost sounded disappointed that the fun was over once he was done, like he didn't want the playtime to end. So great to see mate
We need more people like Beau in this world
Definition of "if there's the will, there's a way." I adore your approach to life mate, truly humanising stuff.
And again a great story and video. It was a pleasure to dive into it for those 14 minutes!
I love that all of your videos genuinely make me interested in going outside. One of my top channels over the years by far.
Ha ha. The beard grew back pretty quick. Love seeing your uploads Beau. You are a great story teller. Loved the olive tree journet 👍 How about you do a run all the way to The Weedy Garden. I’ll make a big cold Elder Flower drink for you. 💪🏻
Love your videos mate
I think there's a video in that. Beau Beer Bush Bash
PLEAASE DO THIS! That would make our YEAR!!!
Yess!
Thanks for this Beau. I just signed up for the Honolulu marathon on Dec 11th, my first ever marathon. It takes place on exactly my 26.2nd birthday. I've been trying to motivate myself to stay fit a lot lately, and this was exactly what I needed.
Love this! I just walked 45 miles for my 45th birthday earlier this month. Long day, but totally worth it. Even ended up on the front page of the San Marcos Daily Record (April 10th newspaper)! Life is the greatest adventure. :)
I'm 32.027 and this made my day. The meditative peace and thoughtful presence of everyday story telling you bring to the world is really life changing. Thank you.
I'm 32.079 and feeling the same, also makes me feel like we need to make the best of the next 10 years!
I can never have a bad day again. Just watch any of Beau’s videos and get an instant check up from the neck up. Beau is an absolute legend of a human being. ❤
Best show so far Beau. Thanks. I'm from Sweden and I've only been Downunder once in my life, but listening to your poetry is not only right on the brink of where I need subtitles, but also feels like the most common language I've ever heard. Looking forward to heading back, perhaps to one of your routes. Good on you mate and keep on giving us gold
Thanks my friend. Can't wait to see your neck of the woods one day also...2023 I'm thinking! Goodnya and indeed, get back here when you can
Beau, there is nobody like you. On the one hand this is a bad thing, because if more people were like you the world would be a much better place. Thank you for always reminding us that even the most ordinary things are special.
I am letting you do the running for me as well. My big plan pre - retirement was to walk across Canada hop on a ship go to someplace, walk across that etc. etc. until I eventually made it home. By the time retirement arrived arthritis had stolen that dream. There are days now where the distance from bed to bathroom seems like an Everest attempt. So new plan, I have for the last few years been warming a chair and playing guitar for several hours every day. I actually do still dream about walking some nights. I have also become much more of a musician than I had ever hoped to be. Cheers from the left edge of Canada. ~ulrich
You have a great name. Sucks about the arthritis. Can you do short distances on a bicycle?
Happy Birthday young man!
This is the kind of content that brings out the best of UA-cam.
Beau, I did and planning to do something similar. I turned 43 in early April, so I ran 4.3 miles on my birthday; I haven’t been running much lately, mostly cycling, and a bit chilly here in Ohio, USA for a bike ride. So, planning to do my birthday bike ride this weekend: 43 mi! Should be a beautiful day!
How'd it go?
Went well. It was a nice day and I completed the 43 miles!
I resemble that busted ankle. I'll be back on the trail soon enough, though. Just healing at 50 takes ages... bah! Good for you enjoying your day and Happy Birthday Beau!
I simply in love with how you enjoy life and don’t care about what society might judge. Forever happy kid! 👍🌺🥳
Does not even surprise me one bit that you have over 600 possitive comments on here. You are a true inspiration!! I have been suffering with alot of back issues the last few years that noone at the age of 32 needs, but watching your videos gives me such inspiration and hope! There are always adventures I will be able to do! Thank you!
I see a new Beau Miles video, I click it
In another twenty years they’ll call you eccentric. Love ya Beau. Darlington, South Carolina USA
i love having notifications on haha
Epic video as always Beau! Would love to randomly come across you pounding the pavement in country Victoria!
This is the most wholesome and well shot series on UA-cam. It’s flipping amazing and so heartwarming to watch. Well done to you and the team. Seriously. Why you don’t have more subscribers, I don’t know! Because you deserve so much love and success.
Another great entertaining video! Please post more dude, UA-cam was made for people like you!
Please don't! The randomness and unpredictable nature of your channel is what makes it what it is.
@@Digta .........so you don't want to see more of him? Interesting.
Best 15 minutes of the week so far!
Love your energy beau
Oh my god. I just saw someone talking about gum trees and It made me think of your videos and what the last video if yours i watched was. Then I come to UA-cam unrelatedly and here you are posting min ago 😂
A day becomes better when Beau puts out a video.
Thanks for sharing your red-headed day!...
Your uploads make my day mate, good on ya
Beau, you are a truely beautiful individual who squeezes the very juice of life for all you can - thanks for the great way you share
Looking good for a 42.195 year old man
I admire you so much Beau
I always amazes me, every single video you make is magic. pure magic. the topic may sound profane or boring at times at first glance. But you make it a video I come back to watch when I feel down, or need reassurance. your outlook in life is just so nice and positive. I love the videos and will stick around for however long you plan to make them. much love from Germany!
You are a bloody LEGEND Beau 🤙
Awesome!
My dad ran his first marathon a couple of years ago at 58, so inspiring.
This video brought me so much joy.
I've started exercising 2 years ago, after having the hardest hitting depression in my life. Now, I'm training to run my first marathon.
Seeing things like this makes me so happy for the amazing experiences that we've already had in life, the good memories, and also hypes me up for making more great memories.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us Beau! You're a legend!
I cant even begin to explain the joy I felt when I got a notification that you uploaded a new video at work. They always make my day thank you sir you inspire me to live my life to the fullest.
Having one of those days today, matey. And then you go ahead and post a video and it just fills my soul. I always love your videos but today it really was a cup of hot soup on a cold day. Cheers
Love your content! It's always a good day when Beau posts.
Thank you for the Upload Beau, Every Video you make is a Wonderful Gift! Thank you.
Just when I start training for my own marathon, Beau uploads this making it look easy. Always love to see a new upload Beau! Good on ya! 💪🏻
"Don't compare yourself to who someone else is today, compare yourself to who you were yesterday" Good luck on your marathon! It will be everything you have hoped for.
@@JonJosephKuhn Thanks Jon! For sure. It is inspiring to see what is possible tho :) Thanks for the kind wishes! Actually going for whole Ironman in 2024 😬
I grew up in Warby so seeing all the places I used to go explore when I was growing up filmed so well makes me home sick now that I live in the city. Can't wait to get exploring again soon!
You Beau, give a guy half a world away so much motivation!
Thanks from Latrobe Pennsylvania!
Birthplace on Fred Rodgers, Arnold Palmer, and the Banana Split.
I’m gonna go running now.
your ability to turn the mundane into the extraordinary will never cease to amaze me. Keep bringing Joy to the world
Damn, I missed my marathon, I'm 42.33 old now and I'm just trying to get the half marathon ;)
Nice run and nice idea, love it.
Bloody brilliant!!! Happy belated 42.195 birthday Beau!
I’ll do this in 2024 for my 42.195th - thanks for the cracking challenge!
All hail Beau and Mitch and the rest of the team 🙌
Runs the last fifth of a marathon with a tree on his back 🤣 love Beau
What a pleasure
Beau's charisma is so high he can take average things any of us would do in a day and turn them into great stories
Can't wait till you're 60...
That will be a nice run 😊
Love the running videos good on ya mate 🤘🏻
You are honestly such an inspiration to me. Crazy how you can change someone’s life from half a world away.
i hope i manage to become even half the man you are by your age bo! love your videos!
Yet another wonderful video; thank you so much.
Film should have went for 42.195 minutes, another bloody ripper Beau 🙌🏽👏🏽
Absolutely brilliant once again
Beau is always redefining things, he redefined the “food challenge” with human bean, and redefined environmental action by planting a tree every minute, now he’s redefined the marathon, I think i might stop and go for a swing in my next run now!
I enjoy the deliberate focus on taking advantage of the entertaining features of where you live!
For an unsentimental bloke your videos always always seem to take a sentimental and profound view. Thanks Beau, great as always
Happy bloody marathon birthday mate
When somebody needs to know the meaning of the word "wholesome". They should just show your videos. Cheers!
Nice little story and tour of a few great streets and tracks of Victoria. Nice one. 👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
Haven’t ran for over 40 years because one person didn’t understand the concept of “touch football”, but I’ve walked that distance several times. Even got my wife to do it too.
Shouldn’t you be running your age in MILES?
We all thought it, you went and said it!
Oh snap, here comes another video from Beau lol
You knew what you were doing writing this right? ^^
@@benji1508 Yes, and Beau is just the man to do it.
great as always
We need a beau and van neistat collab. I feel like they’d be fast friends.
every minute I spend watching your beautiful mind work fills my bucket enough to last me for weeks on end. thank you. the world needs more beau.
Now do it in *Miles*
Amazing. Simple. Wonderful.
