  • Enjoy a head end ride on board a train of tank cars on the Indiana Rail Road from Indianapolis to Switz City, Indiana. This is a two part set, and in this volume you'll ride the train from just south of the settlement of Fruitdale to Switz City, Indiana.
We have several cameras on board the locomotives, (INRDand EMD SD - 90'S #9007 and #9001) and you'll enjoy the ride from a variety of angles. The audio is just as interesting. We carefully placed microphones on the exterior of the units, and you'll enjoy great natural sound as your train roars alone (note, the is no sound from the interior of the locomotive cab).
Enjoy riding through the most scenic section of the Indiana Rail Road, as the train climbs through the hills of southern Indiana. This line has been called the "Hi-Dry" for the many bridges that it crosses. In this program, you'll cross the 900 foot long Shuffle Creek Viaduct and the half mile long Richland Creek Viaduct, also called the Tulip Trestle. You'll also pass through Unionville Tunnel and go right through the campus of Indiana University.

If it's ever abandoned it would make a great rail trail. Hopefully, it will hold on.

Liberals and the EPA are working on that rn

@@andrewhatton1606 If it's ever abandoned it will be because they lose enough customers. The EPA would have NOTHING to do with it. Why would you be against people riding bicycles? Why would you be against USING a nice ready-made corridor to make a trail? What's wrong with you? I just rode from Pittsburgh all the way to Washington,DC using a rail trail built on the former Western Maryland Railway and a canal towpath on the abandoned C&O Canal!

@@spaceghost8995 the EPA has everything to do with it where do you think the jobs left. Idc if you ride your sissy bike to D.C that's kinda dumb tbh. That line use to have factorys and freight running on it. The world doesn't run on you riding your bike. I've lost two of my railroad jobs because of liberal policies.

@@andrewhatton1606 So Nixon,Reagan, George Bush Sr., George Bush Jr., and Trump somehow never existed? BTW Clinton was NOT very liberal either. The Delaware and Maryland was mostly a coal railroad and the B&O bought it. B&O already had a parallel line and they didn't need both. The C&O Canal was closed in 1929. The parallel RR (which is still there) took it's place. You call it a "sissy bicycle"? Let's see you pedal it 80 miles a day like I can and see who the sissy is. I'm 60 years old and I still do it. I drive a semi for a living and believe me I know all about the history of transportation. Trucks and the interstates replaced the rails. I love railroads and I don't like to see them adandoned . However, if a line is abandoned I want to see the corridor made into a trail. Things aren't going to stay the same like they were 100+ years ago when those rails were first laid down. Time moves on. Most all the coal comes from Wyoming now. It's cleaner and it's WAY easier to mine it. Making rail trails preserves our amazing railroading history and it creates a great place for recreation. I really don't know why you would be so against people just wanting to hike or bike. We aren't hurting you .

After 9/11 it became much harder to deal with the railroads. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.

Interesting that the old Monon also went to Switiz City, as well as the IC line crossing it in Bloomington, also that the CSX was too dumb to service industries in Bloomington and let The Indiana Rail Road do it instead???
