I miss the days when your save data was either *on the cartridge* or on a memory card, now it’s saved to your console so if your console craps out your save data is all gone. Being a Pokéfan has sucked since the Switch Era began because Nintendo thinks allowing cloud backups would “encourage cheating” yet other games have worked out how to avoid it 😒😒😒
Most Of My Best 2000's Gaming Moments Was playing games like Street Fighter 3 Third Strike (1998) and Street Fighter Alpha Series (1995-1998) also Lethal Enforcers (1992) and Virtua Cop 2 (1996)
With inflation game prices have pretty much stayed the same or actually gone down. When I was a kid a hot Super Nintendo game could cost 69.99 which is $146 now!!!
While I missed the SNES Vs Genesis and PS1 Vs N64; the former was what I consider the greatest generation of gaming with the latter being second. I also miss how things were in the 2000's with the Wii and DS, or even PS2/Gamecube/Xbox. The DS had so many awesome features at the time and was the golden age of monster training games; especially with DS download play. No one likes having to pay overpriced Micro transitions just for skins as opposed to unlocking all those things via doing challenges or achievements similar to the classic Super Smash Bros games. Especially if Micro transitions just for a one piece skin costs more than certain Indie game titles that I ironically consider more fun to play than most modern FPS games. While Nintendo Switch is a step in the direction to still have such high quality titles left and right, it still cannot be denied they also have some of the same issues that other modern platforms do. Especially Joycon Drift or being over reliant on needing to redownload cloud data.
The thing I miss about the 2000s was when retro games and consoles like NES, SNES and Gameboy was really cheap and widely available on Ebay. Much easier to find and get one's hands on both specific titles and some games you just get curious about than in the 90s, much cheaper than today. And I also used to find new games much cheaper than in the store just one day after or on release day. Just a few days more wait and a few tens of dollars off.
@slystone4892 Yes, believe it or not, I'm old enough to remember gaming from about 1977 and if you look long enough on the internet you can find advertising about games from the last 1970s
I miss couch coop so much!! I feel like ever since online gaming established amongst consoles, there is only a handful of offline coop games available nowadays. Even Remakes of old games get rid of offline coop (i.e. Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles...) There was nothing better than inviting your friends over and play one game together all night 🥰
I'm also a 2000s kid and those experiences are memorable. Even though I was never apart of the long lines for the midnight releases, I have seen them as a kid back then. What a time to witness it all! Wii Sports was worth owning, especially if you have the Wii Sports Bundle! Thank you Reggie for giving Nintendo an incredible innovative idea (from his book Disrupting The Game). Kids today won't understand the experiences within the Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, etc.
Local multiplayer. Some of my favorite memories include a birthday party of mine where my cousin and I raced each other in Mario Kart Double Dash and the countless hours of playing games like Super Smash Bros Melee and Brawl, the Mario Party series and even the Sonic Adventure 2 Battle multiplayer with my siblings and friends. Now local multiplayer seems to be becoming a thing of the past.
After digging out my old GameBoy Advance & playing Pokemon Emerald on it a few years back, it made me never take the invention of the backlight for granted ever again. Also, to anyone with a Switch or Steam Deck, be grateful that the battery is rechargeable. It wasn’t until the DS & the PSP that we actually got rechargeable batteries for handhelds.
The Virtual Console. Where you could actually purchase retro games with a single payment rather than signing up for an online service to pay $50 bucks a year
Ya I remember the DS download play. While it may not have been the best memories because i always got picked on and bullied everytime i play Mario Kart DS with those people
Man I grew up In the early in the early 2000’s with the wii, the gameboy advance, the PSP, and my computer, with games like Cars, Mario, LEGO Star Wars, Guitar hero, hot wheels, rock band, and monster jam, and also the Jump start games. Simpler times are gone with gaming.
"The big leap" actually are "The Big Leaps ". From 1st (Odyssey) to 2nd (Atari) generations, for 2nd to 3rd (8-bit) them for 4th (16-bit pixel art and digitalized photos) and then for the 5th (from pixel art to 3d gaming). All those tech leaps were jaw dropping.
I miss game genie and game shark style devices that allow you to break games in fun ways without relying on the the developers to include things like infinte whatever or big heads etc
Top 10 trends and traits in 90’s cartoons. These are the things you’d likely see if you’re watching a random cartoon series from the 90’s: -environmental awareness. I don’t recall a cartoon that didn’t preach the importance of preventing deforestation or that pollution was bad. -high quality pilot, low quality season. The first 1-2, maybe 3 episodes to pitch the series often show what the studios can do, but more often than not when they get the green light, they have to pace themselves for the rest of the season so quality dips. -Anthropomorphic team with a human partner. TMNT-mania was full swing in the 90’s, and it had a lot of copycats. -“Extreme” shows.
The biggest ones here are peripherals, motion controls, and midnight releases. Literally everyone had a Wii, even ppl that in no way would call themselves gamers. It was a family thing, and so fun. Same with Guitar Hero / Rockband. We'll probably never see stuff like that again now that the fad is over.
I was born 99, if I wasn't holding my gba or ds I would hunker in my basement and play ps2, ps3 and wii. I loved it all and you could say they wore my friend's since I didn't know anyone or fit in the countryside.
My favorite thing about video gaming in the 2000's is owning a PlayStation 2. It is my favorite video game console because the console also acts as a DVD player. My second favorite was the cheat codes.
I missing waiting outside of Gamestop for the new release of Ncaa Football and Madden collecting people's gamers tag to play online while talking mad shit😂😂.
Back when live service game was restricted to big MMORPG, when DLC was rare and couch coop was still a big things, before the trend of battle royals and social medias, oh yesssss.
I wanted the ps2 more than any console during that era despite getting xbox i played great games like dead or alive , splinter cell , nfs underground & etc.
I think I'm one of the few people who didn't mind those third party controllers, especially for the gamecube, I always hear people saying how reliable the official ones where but literally all mine broke and I wasn't a kid who threw mine in rage or smacked it around, they just died for no known reason, and I always looked after them as we didn't have a ton of money growing up, but the third party ones lasted way longer, and still work today, plus I weirdly found the thicker stockier bodies to be more comfortable for my hands.

Cheat codes. I mean, back in the 2000's, who loves looking into a gaming magazine to find a page filled with cheat codes in video games from your favorite 5th and 6th generation of game consoles. There is one example in ATV Offroad Fury 2 for the PlayStation 2 that has a cheat code to unlock everything. From racing tracks to numerous ATV outfits to owning all of the ATVs. The cheat code for that is "IGIVEUP."
I’m an introvert so I never waited in line for the game launch or rushed head on to be the first to buy the brand new game or console as I would buy them weeks later.
I love E3 because it was the mecca of video game conventions! I watched a lot of coverage thanks to G4 in tbe 2000s and IGN in the 2010s. I miss E3 It will always be a part of gaming history.
Anybody who doesn't understand how much motion controls mattered, just go play TNA impact wrestling on the Nintendo Wii and then go try it on any other system, and I guarantee you you will have had more fun playing it on the Wii than you will on the other systems even if they look and run better. That stupid wiimote really really had an impact on gaming that unfortunately didn't last
I miss when everything was physical & everyone got the game at the same time. With digital, they usually get it first and some games (well for nintendo anyways) are digital only.
I think E3 is still important. I don't like how everyone is doing their own events and it's less magical and more dull that way. E3 was like the gaming centre where we all came together. I'm still gutted that it's been cancelled, I hope it can come back
So, all these sounds like gaming in the 90s. Going over to friends or families house, playing a game, with 4 controllers. Or connecting a wire, to two or more gameboys, battling others in games, trading Pokemon that way. We had it made, in the 90s. Kids now, never get to experience that.

It's so nice to be 2000s kid with amazing memories of childhood's games what our whole family encluding parents played like Wii Sports Resorts, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Mario Kart Wii on Wii. After checking the Past, next we'll have to check the Future, I have a good video idea, would you plz make a video about of 10 the most Expected games what we want to see coming with the Nintendo Switch 2? Back in the 2000's 9 times out of 10 we would get a complete game that wouldn't need a day one patch if a game was buggy and unplayable it was the exception not the rule. We didn't need to wait an hour to instal a game we could just put a disc in and play the game and they were actually worth our time & money. We also didn't need to worry about our games suddenly being taken away at random because a company decided they could. We could also unlock additional features like extra skins just buy reaching certain objectives in the game. These days games are buggy and overpriced and 9 times out of 10 aren't worth the time or money, are almost slowly going all digital and can be ripped away at any moment and are becoming more like interactive movie's.
I miss the days where you can pop a game in the console without having to wait for it to download.
Or having to remove some space just to play even if it’s on disc
Me too 😢
@@Darkchao_berserko22 Or waiting for the console to update before playing a game

Having a completely polished finished game on release, without constant updates fixing it is what stands out to me
As a person who grew up with the games in the 2000s, I really miss those days. So much nostalgia for us 2000s kids to remember and never forget
Yeah I miss when gaming was so innovative in the 2000s when I grew up.

Kids nowadays will never know the pain of going to your friend's house and being handed a madkatz controller... So depressing
That's why I always brought my controller with me.
They'll also never enjoy LAN parties

Today's gaming is missing the real joy as it was before. I still remember all the 'WOWS' when something new and cool turned up.
I miss those old days😭
I dont😂 I dont have to leave the house to buy stuff. I can play more older games then ever before
Guitar hero and Rock Band needs to be revived! 🎸 🥁 🔥
This video takes me back... I feel old now.

Kids these days don't understand the joy of hanging out with a friend and playing a game side by side, to see your friends face when you beat them.
