The devs from the game Satisfactory solved "the issue" with placing objects in other objects with so called "soft clearance" and "hard clearance". Taking the bench as an example... "soft clearance" would allow you to place the bench in a garden of a house but the "hard clearance" would not allow to place the bench inside the house. I don't know if something similar would be possible within CS2 but i just wanted to point out the idea.
This is basicly a question of collision detection. Unity has some standard collision boxes (and also very specialized ones too), which you can define for every mesh you add. To have something like soft/hard clearance you need to adjust every asset in the game and define what is inside and what is not (aka unclick collision). Or you can write a script which calculates the volumes of models and defines insides and outsides on the fly. They will certainly not do the first option. This would make modders lifes harder and would cost a lot of manpower. The second option is conceivable. But IDK if this is a good idea for a game that already struggles with performance.
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines I made a topic "soft clearance / hard clearance for buildables." in the official discord trying to explain what the idea is about. Can i use this video as reference in case there is need for more clarification?
Bicycle lanes would also change the game a lot. DLC of this will make the most sense! (Bicycle upgrades and bicycles in the city as extension, with bicycle paths as option). Btw, this patch also makes the game more interesting to play. Great patch.
@@iamjames8200 I am from the Netherlands and live in Germany, so I know many differences between cycle lanes in different countries. @@RogerPlayz2025 I work with urban mobility at the city hall of my city, Fortaleza - Ceará, which is trying to become a reference for bicycle mobility in Brazil. I imagine that a challenge for implementation might relate to traffic accidents, given that we would now have a mode of transportation more exposed to risks.
My city was the exact size of yours (about 53,000 citizens) and dropping a bit from a high of 54,800 due to the homeless bug. It's definitely a nice start for decorator but we still need to use an anarchy mod just to fully use them. And no placeable buildings and surfaces without mods too. Find it and Anarchy feel mandatory. Also that new road builder mod. Also I have been waiting so long for that Japanese theme pack.
Nice addition. However, I miss the ability to designate an industry zone wherein only industries of a certain type could be built there. For instance, near a forestry harvesting area, I would like the forestry industry buildings to be in close proximity. This could be done in CS 1 so I'm not sure why they removed it in CS2
I'm a bit unsure about the patch. The homeless improve is good, but the detailing thing with the fact that you can't put a tree within a planter or you can't put a decal over roads is a bit frustrating. I want to be positive, but right now the patch if kind of a meh. I thing CO needs to be less restrictive with collisions.
More than anything else now, I really need a traffic pathing fix, so vehicles (mainly hgv's and even more so than general hgv's, bin lorries!)stop lane switching. They are so janky it's unreal, you notice it a lot more on large/ very large cities, if that's what 450k pop is........ The constant unnecessary lane switching is really really annoying. Bin lorries especially will start say on the outside lane of a highway, hold all the traffic up trying to switch to the inside lane to then just before the exit, try to switch back to the outside lane again. This in large cities causes a lot of issues.
It seems pretty basic that scenery items should be able to overlap each other and be placed on larger 'property' assets. Someday the Biffa #SaveTheRock campaign will get the justice it deserves! I'm still quite early in the video but I really like some of those stone/rock props, like the heads, the crypt and the gravestones, feels like the perfect time of year to use those in a spooky cemetery build. (The stone heads kinda make me want to see a Labyrinth recreation too, that's the kind of thing I'd probably attempt to build in CS2.) I don't always love 'explainer' type videos but I'm really enjoying this one so far! And yay for planters with trees in them, those have been sorely missed.
Big question Biffa. will the people be able to use and interact with the props. i have not noticed anyone using the football fields that i have place in my city.
I'm guessing the props are purely cosmetic? i.e. if you plop down some benches and a pergola, nobody will use it as a park? Assuming that's the case, if you use the mod that lets you draw on usable surfaces - e.g. draw a hang-out zone of a park and people will just chill on the grass - and draw on a park area, would they use the mods then? Or, again, are they just there to look pretty?
So my question is one of perspective. Is it flattering/satisfying for devs to just take what modders do and make it part of the game, or is it frustrating that they are basically unpaid developers? Like I feel like they should get compensated lol
I think this is a step on the right direction. But regarding some assets. There are a lot of shipping containers (for example) that I would like to have and they are on the base game. I wonder why they didn’t include those…
I love the cemetary options... I want to re-create my town and was wondering about grave stones and mausoleums. I noticed in your city at point 17:46 to 18:18 that the cars were stopped in the middle of the road for some reason, then I saw cars doing U-turns and causing these slight back-ups - Nothing major but my OCD wouldn't like that LOL.

I don't know if this has been mentioned already but when you where talking about the game speed you had the camera in a location where the cars were doing a very random U-turn and seems like it was happening just so that they could turn right at the intersection by making a left from the opposite direction.
What's going on with some vehicles wheels flickering? Example garbage trucks (example 14:30 to 14:42). White car in intersection at 15:30. Motorcycle 15:38.
