Wow, I have seen this song done a hundred times, but never quite like this. You found moments in this song that most women sing right over when they are doing it! It seemed so fresh and in the moment! Congrats!
ah, back again listening to this for the 10000th time. this has been my favourite audition song for like eight years now and your version is still the best one I've seen, everything about your voice makes me so happy n__n
that was an amazing performance! This is one of the songs I'm singing this at my singing teacher's year end show and I love it so much, it was pretty much exactly what I imaged the song to look and sound like.
I was recommending this song to someone who's a mezzo. Searching for a good recording, I stumbled upon this one. I have no idea who you are, Ms. Lindsey Powell, but that is probably the best version I've heard of this song. Perfect blend of singing with acting, well-interpreted. Kudos.
I'm performing this in a recital for my theatre company this Saturday and I never really appreciated how hard vowels are to sing until I had to learn this.
Annabel: All I have to say is I am happy to be sitting here, Doing what is meaningful to me Working on behalf of the Universal Dog Home Not barking up a strangers tree Now my idea of company would be A friendly face, the kind of face That melts you with a grin The kind of eyes that welcome you The minute you walk in A tender glance you simply can't refuse At times like this a girl could use A dog. He listens when you tell him things, There's nothing you can't say And unlike certain people you can teach him how to stay And if the world is giving you the blues He cheers you up by chewing up the news. It's things like that that make you choose A dog Other people need romance, dancing, playing around Other people need constant fun, well I'm not one I have my feet on the ground Give me a quiet night, a stack of books A tuna melt on rye A simple walk together Underneath the starry sky And suddenly the night is something rare And all because there's someone special there. Who's gazing at the views. His head upon your shoes. At times like this, I sure could use A Dog
I like Flaherty's version as well. Most people sing this song way over-wrought, over-the-top. I like your care for the lyrics--a more restrained approach--good job.You found the comedy & the poignance.
This is such a good song, you give such a great performance with it. Do you happen to know what key this was done in? I'm looking to buy the sheet music but sometimes the "Published/original key" listed on music sites is not always the same as whats been performed.
The acting
The voice
Everything is amazing 😍
Love love love
It's time like these I sure could use your version of this song in my ear all day long. Thank you!

Who is she? so so talented. I've just listened to the Kat McPhee version which is equally great
Emaratilicious - Well, Katherine McPhee's version has less of a theatre feel, and this one definitely has more of a theatre feel.
It's Lindsey Powell, this is her youtube channel. :)
that was goood
