Was coming down to the comment to say this exact thing. The less "beat" a song has the louder it makes it in comparison to the the other tracks, which sucks.
@@crushkeyncrude5524 and let's not mention that autogain is compression... which also means... f****ing up all the music dynamics... sadly... 99.99% of DJs don't have a f%%%%ing clue what dynamics are :(
Has anyone else noticed when using Beatsource and Tidal that often times when you load a song the auto gain feature doesn’t work? I have to go back into the settings and click/un-click auto gain.
Except that it doesn't actually work. On or off, tracks will still wildly overpower their channel without manual tweaking. It's basically a gaslighting button; a fakeroo.
@@PDot It's not every song brah, but i can think off hand, Roberta flack & Heavy D & the boys are low volume, thus the reason why i made a folder called of course: "Low Volume"...😁😁😁 i'm from the old skool of Dj/Production where we made things work.🤪😜🤪😜
Also keep in mind that some of your tracks are just bad quality, or just low in general. Gotta keep up with remastered versions of older songs. Aside from my DJ pool tracks, my regular music library is usually purchased from Amazon. That way I can get remastered versions that are a lot cleaner and louder. You’ll get a lot of bad versions if you’re downloading lots of free tracks from UA-cam, SoundCloud, etc. it pays off to pay for remastered versions
I have never used Serato without this box being ticked but there are still quite big audible differences between tracks. Nice to see you're not intimidated by the use of "SMART SYNC" and You should really tick "Turn FX off" ON LOAD
Thanks for sharing your opinion Steve. Why would say the bit-rates and file formats have more to do with auto-gain not being as effective, more than the difference in mastering levels??🤔??
@@resleone6609 play a track @ 96kbps vs 320kbps the 320kbps will not only sound way better but will also sound louder. Alot of times I have seen track showing 320kbps but are really only 96kbps. trying to get a file at 96kbps file to sound the same DB as a flac file will result only in distrotion.
@@impdj Hmmmm, that’s an interesting perspective. Yes of course 320 sounds better than 96k, 128k, 256k. FLAC sounds even better because it’s lossless. I think you were dealing with transcodes. 96k to 320k transcodes are the work of the devil, lol. While typically converting music to a lossy format removes a lot of frequencies in particular ranges, I think what you possibly may have experienced were transcoding issues. Too often folks used to (and sometimes still do) transcode from a cd to a crappy format like .wma with default low bit-rate settings, then later on someone tries to convert that to a .mp3 with 320kbps settings. Heck there could’ve even multiple format/bit-rate changes or ripping from cassette, before a file might’ve reached our possession. Loading that same file into our DJ software and trying to apply auto-gain would certainly cause some issues. I’m gonna do some testing of the different bit-rates mentioned, converted from an HQ source, and apply auto-gain. Should be interesting.
This feature is anything but accurate.
My point exactly.

He forgot to mention that after that you need to analyze your entire library! :D
how do i do that

Hi have a problem on my serato, even i on the library backup, when i exit the serato my song need to analyze again.

Supposed to but usually i just normalize in FL 20....🤔🤔🤔
If you're willing to take the extra time to do that, I'm sure that might have better results!

My volumes aren't saving. They should stay the same when i set them right?
I have Serrato pro I have a music symbol. You look like you have a bow tie. What is the difference?s? I'm paying for something that I don't have?
It took me 2 years to learn that. God the good ol fun days

Can u help me getting connection with microphone in numark to serato.. software..
auto gain works ...most of the time
i cant make my serato appear on files and folders
What if I had already edited my beat grid and locked it, will the auto gain level out the tracks too?
Please help,
Does rekkordbox have this option
It does not when exporting to usb sticks

Great Video
Glad you enjoyed it!
The reason someone would say “it’s not accurate” is because you have mixed bit-rates 128 thru 320 kbps or even wave or flac files.

@@impdj, So when it's all said & done, what numbers should i be looking for, for the best quality of sound?...🤔🤔🤔
is this a permanent Leveling to the actual track. or is it only thru Serato.
It’s only adjusting the gain settings of each track within Serato. Not actually permanently making changes to the track.
@@PDot Thanks for the reply.
🎉
So checked for this last show, backing tracks had still a Dynamic differences of 10 - 20 🥲
My settings are @ 95! Haven't noticed a difference!
