This is a fucking awesome video. Every piece of advice he gives is crucial and he clearly has experience with both buying and selling jeeps as well as working on them. This video should have 1 million views
Exactly bro. I love this video. I own a 1997 Limited ZJ, currently has 200,400 miles on it. Runs well and I purchased it for $900. My previous two Jeeps were were a 2001 XJ, and a 2003 Liberty. I find a lot of my vehicles on Letgo. They have just partnered up with Offerup. I bought a second car for $750.00 1996 BMW 328i, all it needed was suspension work, a tune up and some minor oil leaks fix. I put around $3,000 into it and i have a very reliable car. Plus, should I ever want to sell it, I could make a profit.
That’s awesome your on the right path for sure! You just can’t beat an xj 😁
the liberty is not a jeep
Keep up the good work! i recently bought one from my first jeep for 500. it had a massive structural crack in the unibody so i couldnt do much to it but it gave me the jeep itch. So I went out and got lucky and found a restless jeep and these videos have been a wealth of knowledge. Now I own 2 1998 jeep Cherokee XJs, one is a sport one is a limited. Thanks again JC
I appreciate this. See i bought my 97 cherokee, for 1300 bucks, its not rust free but is close to being rust free. my girlfriend has a 01 no rust 150k miles for 4000. We like in salt states.
Nice! thanks!
Makes sense
Man I can't find one here in El Paso Texas at all. As soon as I mention I'm an auto technician they won't let me come see it lol. Tells me all I need to know I guess. I've literally talked to over 30 ppl.
It’s getting harder to find cherokees!!
Looking at a 2000 for $1500 tomorrow hopefully is as good as pic looks
Pick her up tues after holiday
What are some good websites to look on for a Cherokee? I've been looking on Craigslist, Ebay, FB Marketplace, even google images and I can't even find one that's rusted out and doesn't have an engine for less than $4,000
I live in northern Maine and the jeeps are being sold for 1000-2000 for a rust bucket i mean the unabody is rotted out.
I really wish to give someone like you my 2000 XJ to build for reasonable price. I'm so desperate to live here in middle east for every parts and maintenance in Qatar is bizarre price. even i cant afford after market from amazon the shipping charge is crazy. Even Q post will charge extra.. My XJ still runs stock since 2 years. i madly wanted to mod :(
What is the heavy duty cylinder head you use?
I used titan
Nice job Clinton.I would steer away if it were a Grand Cherokee with the 4.7L and had a blown head gasket. Those motors are junk.....
What do you think about jeeps with swapped engines? I’m looking at this keep with 200,000 miles on the body but was swapped with a 99 engine with 125,000. Do you think it’s worth buying it? Thank you
Monetized nice!
Yes finally now we can get some good upgraded coming!
@@jcjeeps Sweet!
Sweet👌👌
I'm looking at a 2000 that needs a new engine due to cracks as you mentioned. What company do you use for crate engines?
Build a Trash Hawk...... it already needs a new engine, might as well put something in it with some balls.
What if the XJ is already lifted and kind of equiped for off road ? Will the motor have a lot of wear? Should i buy a stock jeep?
Pd. It has like 200K miles
I bought one with a 3inch lift, like new mudding tires and pretty used street tires and 148k miles for $2500. I’ve put ab $600 into maintenance so far. Works great with just a little love. It’s up to you.
How much does it cost ballpark to build a jeep like your red one? What years would you suggest to look for?
I had about 15k in mine when it was done, really any year from 91-01 is good but 97-98 is best for newer body style and 94-96 is best for older style
Would you buy a Tj Wrangler ?
If I didn’t have kids I for sure would! But I really need the extra doors lol. I actually would go with a yj
Where do people find jeeps like this for 500$?
That one was about 3 years ago so yea it is harder to find. However I’m currently looking and there are still some under $1000 that have some issues like that one had when I bought it
What year xjs u think is the best to start off with
1991-1998 are great years
@@jcjeeps do u have any suggestions on what rear end to start of with
The 8.25 is the one you want for sure
What years jeep cherokees is best to buy?
I’d say 92-98 but I really is just a matter of what maintenance has been done.
For the XJ’s 96 and 99. 2000 and 01 had cracking issues with the engine. I have a 96 148k miles works great
You bought 10+ xjs, why are you dumping them? I can't imagine making any money on them, even if you buy for 500 and sell for 4k, you probably have 2k worth of parts in it, so you're getting 1500 after tons of work (ie replace head). It doesn't seem worth the work and money to start over again. The only thing I could imagine is giving them to loved ones, where you know they're solid and dependable.
Yes you are spot on I buy them for family and friends! I don’t do it for the money at all just for good reliable jeeps. I’m actually rebuilding a head as we speak on my mother in laws grand Cherokee I bought for $500 😁
XJ's in my neck of the woods with all maintaineance done go for over 5k so scoring a 500.00 XJ as long as it is not a rust bucket is a win win
@@MajorWeakness yeah, here in Philly everybody with a handlebar mustache wants one , so you can get pretty good money for them , but it's still a ton of work. two months of work for $2000 isn't that great.
where at in NC are you from ?
