Watched the movie last night in preparation for this analysis because I saw it pop up on my yt the other day. Excellent video! Hogarths dad's death is implicit throughout the movie (chief being the fighter pilot helmet) but pretty explicitly shown in the Kent nighttime face off when we see Kent through the doorway from Hogarths perspective - on the nightstand you see his dad in a plane from ww2.
I Watched this earlier today and think you are making your way well into making your reviews. Keep up the good work. This is a special movie that definitely deserves love and is definitely a cult hit at this point. The only thing I would say is keep plowing through and building your voice. I think you are well on your way and can't wait to see what you do next.
This was my favorite movie as a kid. I played it over and over again anticipating the sequel. But it wasn’t until this year, 2023, that I saw the deleted scenes for the first time. Made me love it even more. This is a classic
I can't wait to see what you take on next. The Iron Giant is one of those movies that holds a special place as one of the earliest movies I remember seeing that wasn't the Lion King, which I watched so much, I wore out a VHS.
@@amateuranalyst the lion king gets tons of love and is definitely a favorite of mine! There's alot of semi-classic movies that dont get the recognition they probably should. It makes me feel old when I realize that many kids didn't grow up with a VHS player like I did and missed out on stuff because it just didn't make it to DVD or their parents didn't want or think to buy it again.
Amazing video, it's enough to make a grown man cry. I've always loved The Iron Giant even though the first time I saw it was only about 2 years ago, it became a comfort film. Brad Bird & Tim McCanlies did a phenomenal job with the story & direction. Your analysis gave me a newfound appreciation for what this film has to offer, for that I thank you. Can't wait on what you'll review next. Oh and f*ck WB!
It's my favourite movie from my childhood. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video. They certainly crammed a lot of story in a 120 minute runtime. F**k WB indeed.
Great video on my all time favourite animated movie. That Trailer Park Boys clip was priceless (I did some writing on the series in the early days). Good luck in all your future efforts! The guy below in the comments, TUR, recommended this channel. Oh and fuck WB.
@@spoiler321 I'm working on a sci-fi novel. I used to write those terrible articles for companies like Screenrant. I would love to write as a career but there are so few opportunities. I figure UA-cam might give me some credibility in the meantime, besides being great practice. I have many ideas for shorts but I lack the time and dedication. Novel is priority 1.
This video is absolutely perfect, and has taught me so much about writing, arcs, and storytelling. There is an abundance of Iron giant video essays but this is by far the best. The iron giant is my favorite movie, and you have improved it so much for me. I do not consider you a mere “Amateur” analyst. You are truly a professional, and it’s a shame you don’t upload more.
Thanks for the kind comment! I would love to upload more, but alas UA-cam copyright keeps blocking my work. I have a pretty extensive video on Rumble, the link should be in the description.
Such a good video. I actually only watched the Iron Giant for the first time a few months ago. Your analysis is very well done and I find myself looking forward to your next projects.
Thank you so much for making this! I couldn't find too many video essays about The Iron Giant on UA-cam. It was really cool to finally see an in-depth film analysis. Keep it up!
Both of your videos have blown my mind with the amount of passion and qualety behind every acpect. Your insights and editing far surpass other large analysis channels I've seen. Arcane and The Iron Giant are legendary productions that exceeded any expectations viewers had much like these videos for me. It is obvious that these videos are very much a passion projects, especially with the large time span between the two. However, I think a lot more people need to see this kind of stuff, keep it up mate. All spelling errors were completely intentional.
This was always one of my favourite movies as a kid, but seeing it again now in my adult years has given me a whole new appreciation for it. I have so much empathy for the child like innocence of the giant, the ending had me bawling my eyes out. Great video man.
Hi I'm a french guy and in my country NO ONE knows this classic and I would like sooooo much for it to be more watched in here but anyway thank you for your excellent analysis on my favorite movie ever and I also wanted to say, magnificent message at the end, Warner deserved it.
The message about Warner wasn't just how they sabotaged their own film, but the fact I had to jump through hoops for months to get this video passed their copyright filter. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, I worked hard to try and give this film the justice it deserves.
I'm only 15 mins in and am already in love with your format. This video deserves more views and you definitely deserve more than 400 subs and you completely earned mine. Please keep 'em coming, can't wait to see what's next!
This is the perfect analysis video. Like it's everything I look for, it's serious, goes into great but complicated detail but explains things in a way that's easy to understand, plus some humour! I enjoyed watching this video almost as much as I enjoy actually the movie lol
this was an amazing experience. thank you for keeping this classic alive, it was clear how hard you worked on this and im looking forward to more content in the future (:
I can't remember the last UA-cam video that made me cry. You bastard, yes it is mostly because the iron Giant is quite the emotional movie. Also, what is the context behind the F-U Warner Brothers?
Hey guys, make sure to check out my latest video on Rumble! TLDR: Fair use is dead on UA-cam.
