He didn't charge us for his services. May he and his wife R.I.P. Both he and his wife were really good friends of ours, we all really miss them.
I got married in Santo Domingo , in Los mina ! Now I’m divorced which took two years for paperwork and to go before the magistrate but I’m happy to be done with that woman , make sure the Dominican woman love you and not just trying to go to your country!

I should’ve known better , but most Dominicans if they have a strong desire to come to the states believe me they have a network of people here to help them maneuver through paperwork legal and illegal. Watch out for the U- status green card trick! They will fake a terrible abusive marriage and call the police and lie to have you locked up and then all the paperwork is presented to the immigration judicial officer or judge and they are awarded a temporary green card. My story is very long but let’s just say I’m definitely happily divorced and now I’m able to purchase a penthouse in Santo Domingo and not have to split it with my ex wife.

I am not sure though that some people understand; is that if your a nationalized US citizen not born in the United States , you will need to get your birth certificate certified by the consulate of the country you were born and then translate the birth certificate and the certified paper to Dominican Spanish. Does it need to be translated before it’s apostille or the original documents apostille then translated? Also with the declaration of single status can I just write it in Spanish and then go to a Spanish notary to get it notarized?
All documents to my knowledge need to translated and apostilled in both languages expect the original birth certificate doesn't need to be apostille however the translation of it does. I recommend also checking with a lawyer for more clarification.

It's not required that you speak Spanish but it would be good if you had a translator there to help you understand. As far as the documents ahead of time I'm not sure about that.

Your birth certificate needs to be authenticated by the U.S. State department of state, then apostilled and translated by the nearest Dominican consulate to the place where you were born. Only then you can get married legally in DR.

Because both of us are Catholic and it made a little easier and little cheaper and before you get married we had to take a Marriage Preparation Course Completion . If the Dominican is Catholic or want to get married in a Catholic Church you don't have to be Catholic but you must get baptized Christians . If a person want to married a Dominican make sure you embrace the country and culture it's very important !!!! lol I know why my wife wanted to get married with Catholic values because you have the intention to marry for life

I don't know of anyone personally. Typically when I need a notary here in Santo Domingo I go to the attorney I use and they have a company they use to notarize the documents for me. It's not difficult to find a notary here.

I live in Missouri and know for sure that you can get everything translated online. Southeast Spanish, Inc in TN is who I used. Dan was friendly and helpful. When I picked picked up my letter saying I was single it was told to me that I could have done it on line and of course the birth certificate can be done on line. Now everything except translation was going to take 6 weeks or better to receive and this is why I flew home and picked it up in person.
I'm American and married my wife, a RD national, in Higuey. I paid for all neccessary documents to be translated while I was there. It didn't take long at all. We've been married for ten years and reside in the US. We also have a home in RD. Not a bad idea to consult an attorney who speaks English (if you're not fluent in Spanish). If you plan on establishing a prenuptial agreement, it is important to work with an attorney. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Actually, I came to 🇺🇸 at 12yo and never had a "cedula" just got one last year at the consulate in NYC, after 43 years and they told me my American marriage certificate is not valid, so my dominican ID and passport list me as single and have my maiden name. So, in order to rectify that I'm sure I would have to do so in the DR.

Yes you can have it all done here. Just find a company online that does this. I had my daughter's birth certificate apostilled online and sent to me.
