$1000. If you are a single person moving to DR, it's best to rent a studio or a one bedroom apartment. If you live with the locals, your rent might be a$200-$240 per month for a small apartment. Also, there is no need to buy a car in DR, a lot of people drive recklessly over there. Sell everything before you move down there. Just take with you your electronics and two to four suitcases. There is no reason to spend $10.000 on relocating fees. Put that money in a dominican bank account. Live there at least two to three years before buying any property.
Health insurance is a must. Finally, I think it would make life easier for you to have a budget north of $1500.00 per month. You only live once brother so a budget of $2500 would be ideal. But some foreigners make it there on $1200/$1300 per month.

I liked your video very much. Very realistic and informative. Very well calculated. I live in Puerto Plata and my apartment on the second floor has 2 BRs. Balcony with a view of the bay. We sit in the balcony and enjoy the cruiseships coming to Port. One of the taxi companies we take, has mini-bars in the car for a better ride. The view is spectacular from the roof of my apartment. The sky is clear most nights and you can see everything up there. My rent is about $15000 pesos. Don't worry about hurricanes because they get weak by the time they get to Puerto Plata. Love it. BTW, I am a veteran and we have like 4 or more veteran clinics in the area. Thank you.

It’s a different world from the time I grew up in, and it truly has been a lifetime. I have to say I’m finding this useful myself, who has to get reacquainted with how things work there nowadays. Your video gives a nutshell perspective to anyone contemplating doing the same. Great work 👍

1000 and nice high level introduction but some things you need to go into deeper especially in the DR, take cellphone service it is not like in the USA, you load your phone with minutes and bandwidth once it is exhausted you need to reload, there is no overcharged to pay, once out you are dead in the water. Also the majority of these $25-350 apts don’t have A/C, Stove,or refrigerators and that cost is on the renter to furnish. So the A/C are wall units, you want to cool the whole apartment think buying multiple a/c units, and lastly make sure the place has hot water, this is not always automatic.

To be fair, is not like Dominicans ourselves live a sweet or easy life on 18k. That is almost surviving not actual living. Especially the amount of work you have to do to be earning 18k-27k. Usually working at a call centers, which is where most of the "best" payments are. And it's not great either, because it's basically slave labor, they take advantages of countries like ours, which are mostly liberal owned companies, but they're so "tolerant" and against "abuse" of colored people/working calss and bla bla. They all care about money and saving every penny. They don't even pay us what would be minimum wage in the US, at most the highest one could expect is 3-4 bucks an hour. They don't give a fuck about paying decent wages. Also, many people here have to deal with the bad traffic, or public transportation, expensive gas, time wasted on the road etc so if you work at 9am, you have to wake up at around 6 or 7am and leave to make it on time then if you leave at 5-6pm with road congestion it could take you like an hour to get back home or more depending where you live. Basic supermarket run could run you up like 11k minimum easy and then the phone, electricity, water bills, gas yadda yadda. I lucked out that I work for an US company remotely from DR and i can earn up to 6 times the average Dominican, which is a fucking shame and disgrace how our politicians and businessmen let these abuses by foreign companies just go unquestioned.

1000! I actually build houses and apartments in DR to rent out, you guys are lucky rent is so cheap, because construction is not, at the rate the rent is out there, it takes 10-20 years to get back the money you invested in building an apartment. so, yeah moving out there if you got dollar is a good ideal, your dollars will go a long way. not only is rent cheap, I find food very cheap also.

I live in Dominican Republic and those numbers don't match if you live in the city center🙄. ...if you want to be save and have a social life and still travel trust me that ain't enough (Mid class)
Unless is :Evaristo Morales, Piantini, Naco, Espirilla, Ensanche Julieta, Arroyo Hondo Viejo, El Millon.
Those places advice are not safe .....therefore they are cheap as a local I wouldn't rent there stick to Airbnb (The capital is only less dangerous in the Center beyond it you must be more careful)
Transportation is not good neither is safe unless is Uber (You will spend a lot)public one ain't safe .....better rent a car ...that is why there are so many cars in the country.

Just a thousand, amazing. Here, Tokyo my rent is for my apartment, 75000 yen, which is $520. I've been paying the same rent now for nearly 20 years. Rent never increases. Tough for landlords to raise rents ... very tough. Compare that to the US ... HA !! Nice meal in town, somewhere around $4 to $15 US. Honestly, I cannot fathom why anyone would want to live in the US any more. Well, only reason is for the money. And the myth ... The American Dream (AKA: The American Nightmare). Wow ... I've spent my life saving cash so I can drive this Ferrari ... you stupid maroon.
Again, I'll be leaving Tokyo soon. DR appeals to me. Women are amazing. I believe the issue is English. Suspect if living there, I'd have a tough time with the language. Perhaps I'd just hire a translator or something. Who knows ... . Regardless, love your moves to there.

I am really looking into moving to DR. I am really interested in knowing the straight-up truth about Las Terranas.
    I would greatly appreciate it.

1000. Yeah, IDK. The allure of DR is to live near a beach or have a house on a mountain. I get that you have family and that's awesome, but who wants to live in a little apt far from the beach or cool places to go?

I also want a remote job and I live in the Dominican Republic. To get a remote job easily, it would be good to study programming or other things that have to do with technology.

Iam dominican american and i always thought we were wealthier than dominicans from the island. Recently i saw a documentary that there are very wealthy dominican natives in dr that make more than americans.

Do a video on Malaysia where you don’t need a car…

  • @divestedkonservativekarame4269

Do you fit in with Dominicans as long as you speak the language well
