$1000. If you are a single person moving to DR, it's best to rent a studio or a one bedroom apartment. If you live with the locals, your rent might be a$200-$240 per month for a small apartment. Also, there is no need to buy a car in DR, a lot of people drive recklessly over there. Sell everything before you move down there. Just take with you your electronics and two to four suitcases. There is no reason to spend $10.000 on relocating fees. Put that money in a dominican bank account. Live there at least two to three years before buying any property. Health insurance is a must. Finally, I think it would make life easier for you to have a budget north of $1500.00 per month. You only live once brother so a budget of $2500 would be ideal. But some foreigners make it there on $1200/$1300 per month.
I liked your video very much. Very realistic and informative. Very well calculated. I live in Puerto Plata and my apartment on the second floor has 2 BRs. Balcony with a view of the bay. We sit in the balcony and enjoy the cruiseships coming to Port. One of the taxi companies we take, has mini-bars in the car for a better ride. The view is spectacular from the roof of my apartment. The sky is clear most nights and you can see everything up there. My rent is about $15000 pesos. Don't worry about hurricanes because they get weak by the time they get to Puerto Plata. Love it. BTW, I am a veteran and we have like 4 or more veteran clinics in the area. Thank you.
Rule of life : if you work remotely or have an online business , just move out of north America and Europe... You will be amazed how well you will live in Latin America and Asia on a $1000 monthly budget
I stay in the Baoruco Province when I visit DR, I spend about $20 a day. Food for the whole day is basically free from family unless I go out, liquor only costs about $8 for a bottle of brugal
Thank you...this video was very informative...I plan to move from the US and live in Santiago with a brother-in-law that also lives there and yes my plan is to rent a 2 or 3 bedroom, furnished, apartment or house but I didn't have the numbers that you give in this video...Now I know what US$1,000.- or more can do for me in achieving that goal without breaking my bank...so let me pack and I'll be on my way...Thank you for awesome information...Nos vemos aya...
Well done 👍 I’m a year late watching this from the time you posted this, but I just wanted to say how well constructed and detailed your work was on this. It’s a different world from the time I grew up in, and it truly has been a lifetime. I have to say I’m finding this useful myself, who has to get reacquainted with how things work there nowadays. Your video gives a nutshell perspective to anyone contemplating doing the same. Great work 👍
lol we are not about to move past "that's what she said" part with a blank face, I can imagine how much you were smiling in your head. 🥴 Hope DR treats you well like I would!!
I am always worried about your safety when you show bundles of money on your platform. I just want you to be safe. You're a wise young man. Keep the videos rolling. ♥️
In the Dominican Republic nothing will happen to you for talking or showing videos with money because the people who steal here in the Dominican Republic are uneducated people, they do not understand English and they do not watch educational or informative videos like this one.
TOMMY BRO I SWEAR YOU GOT ME THINK REAL HARD ABOUT MOVING TO MY HOME LAND ATLEAST FOR 3 TO 5 YEARS. I KNEW MOST OF THESE THING BUT I DID REALLY FOUND IT RELEVANT AT THAT NAIVE TIME OF MY LIFE LOL.
Fantastic, as a soon to be retired nurse I am definitely looking for something like this budget…I am very impressed by your skill… Thanks for sharing.keep it up… You are doing great work…
1000 and nice high level introduction but some things you need to go into deeper especially in the DR, take cellphone service it is not like in the USA, you load your phone with minutes and bandwidth once it is exhausted you need to reload, there is no overcharged to pay, once out you are dead in the water. Also the majority of these $25-350 apts don’t have A/C, Stove,or refrigerators and that cost is on the renter to furnish. So the A/C are wall units, you want to cool the whole apartment think buying multiple a/c units, and lastly make sure the place has hot water, this is not always automatic.
To be fair, is not like Dominicans ourselves live a sweet or easy life on 18k. That is almost surviving not actual living. Especially the amount of work you have to do to be earning 18k-27k. Usually working at a call centers, which is where most of the "best" payments are. And it's not great either, because it's basically slave labor, they take advantages of countries like ours, which are mostly liberal owned companies, but they're so "tolerant" and against "abuse" of colored people/working calss and bla bla. They all care about money and saving every penny. They don't even pay us what would be minimum wage in the US, at most the highest one could expect is 3-4 bucks an hour. They don't give a fuck about paying decent wages. Also, many people here have to deal with the bad traffic, or public transportation, expensive gas, time wasted on the road etc so if you work at 9am, you have to wake up at around 6 or 7am and leave to make it on time then if you leave at 5-6pm with road congestion it could take you like an hour to get back home or more depending where you live. Basic supermarket run could run you up like 11k minimum easy and then the phone, electricity, water bills, gas yadda yadda. I lucked out that I work for an US company remotely from DR and i can earn up to 6 times the average Dominican, which is a fucking shame and disgrace how our politicians and businessmen let these abuses by foreign companies just go unquestioned.
