With lasers, we've been working a lot with inflammation, edema, and areas of pain. I can ask Steve who is our modalities and laser expert within the physiotherapy team.
We've had 2 or 3 different tendon injuries that we've dealt with, some muscle strains. We've had some horses that have had some osteoarthritis that has flared up and we've been using it for those too. So edema, pain, inflammation, and certainly acute injuries.
And are you seeing good change?
We think they are. We've seen reduction in inflammation and decrease in pain and swelling.
We have been treating horses since the moment of their arrival to get them ready for the competition and try to help them relieve the restrictions that are caused by transportation. And then we've been doing a lot of during- and after-competition work to try and get them to become more supple and recover faster from exercise.
Every different physical therapy modality that wants to be used at the FEI enclosure and during an FEI competition needs to comply with the FEI regulations. In the case of laser, Class IVs are restricted from use in the competition because of the risk that it can present on both the horse and nearby people. Anything from Class IIIB and lower can be used at FEI, as these lasers that you have provided us during the whole World Equestrian Games.
And it's been over a week now?
Yeah, we've been here for 2 full weeks now.
