Dumb and Dumber was a film with heart. This ending was meanspirited.
The original ending was mean-spirited too. They lose out on the bikini girls' stunning offer because they're just too dumb, Mary Samsonite dumped them both, they have no transportation, no money at all, and are hitchhiking 3000 miles back to Providence from ASssSSssssSpen. Pretty sad ending for our heroes.

Totally agree. they were just dumb, not maliciously mean.
Which is just one of the reasons why the entire sequel was one of the worst films ever made and why I'm considering hypnosis or something to try and erase its existence from my mind....
Dumb and dumber was saved in editing. They deserve so much credit. The uncut version is so much more mean spirited and the sequel was terrible
@@camelrock Facts! The original, theatrical cut is a comedy classic. The uncut version is a 99% cringey and unfunny mess that turns Lloyd and Harry from lovable dimwits to mostly mean and unlikeable assholes (especially Lloyd). The sequel takes everything bad about the uncut version and makes it even worse.

This scene is the only time a character in either one of the two movies drops an F-Bomb.
Actually in the 2nd movie at the Ken Conference, the guy in the wheelchair with the robot voice said "what the f*ck"

Obviously correct decision not to use this ending, one of the weird alchemies of the film is that it is actually a feel good movie through its incredible humor, including a blind kid who doesn't know his bird has died. This ending would cast a pall over the entire film, asking the audience to judge the characters along with him, and showing the characters are capable of rudely insulting someone trying to help them who is aware of their actual station in life.

This ending was to show that they haven't learned one thing by the end - they are still the stupid arrogant dweebs they were in the beginning. Which is probably why it wasn't used, people needed to see they at least somewhat evolved and while still dumb, they weren't malicious anymore.
People, including me, tend to overlook Harry and Lloyd aren't exactly good people, because Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels make them sympathetic and the movie is a comedy - but really, they are infantile, troublemaking douchebags. They stole newspapers, tricked the blind boy, embezzled million dollars or so, tricked numerous people, betrayed each other over the first woman they met, killed a rare bird, etc. They are not good people, if you met them in real life, you would hate them.

The alternate ending should be the part where it’s like “He’s got a gun!”, then it just fades to black and the credits roll after the shooting scene.

The only deleted scene in a comedy film that should have been used is the Harry and Marv song from Home Alone 1. Deleted "comedy" scenes are generally either unfunny (see The Burbs alternate ending) or just plain nasty (see the attemped male rape scene from Dumb and Dumber).

THEY only liked to be free, and did not like to be slaves or did not like to be employees to work for another or for a firm. It is unforgiveable by the millioners or by the firm owners, thats what this scene is all about.

They acted like ass holes in this ending but I think they acted like big ass holes in the whole second movie
Yeah, in this film they didn't come across as saintly individuals (particularly Lloyd), but the sequel just made them obnoxiously assholish.
